When sal said his grandparents were his literal best friends I felt that! My grandma was my best friend too.. would call me everyday to tell me she loved me and to check on me if I didn't come to her house right after work (I bought the house right beside her so I could look after her).. I loved her of course but I didn't realize that she was my absolute best friend until she died last year.. after a month without hearing from her it really hit me how lucky I was to have a 93 year old best friend. ❤️😭😇

I really appreciate all of your kind words! It's been hard on me losing my grandma.. I guess in some ways I thought she would always be around.. it's very weird going into her house and knowing she isn't going to holler to me from the kitchen or her chair in the living room.. no encouraging words on my hard days, no old folk tales, no one to remind me of the old silly rhymes that made us laugh.. I just have to hope that she told me everything she wanted to before she passed. She did have a long full life, surrounded by family, and honestly she was ready to go long before her time came. She would tell me "I've got my bags packed, I'm just waiting for my ride" and I would tell her to stop talking like that, I needed her around longer.. but it's actually sort of beautiful, that she felt like she had done and said everything she wanted to and had made peace with death. I can only hope to be half as sweet, and kind, and compassionate, as she was. ❤️
