Jeffrey, it seems as if you were meant to be Katie at this point in your life. She's a wonderful listener, seems wise well beyond her 30 years, and allows you to just be you. Being on her couch seems really therapeutic for you right now. Cherish this selfless gift that she is giving you, it's rare to find someone who cares so deeply, with compassion and humor, and without judgment.

I like this quote for you Jeffery. Happiness is like a butterfly, the more you chase it, the more it will evade you, but if you notice the other things around you, it will gently come and sit on your shoulder. Henry David Thoreau

Jeffrey I have a few years on you and I’ve been through the “midlife crisis” you’re experiencing quite a few times as well. But I will suggest it’s less about a “midlife” age thing and more about having a creative brain. We’re all sort of taught as kids that we need to find our career, do that same job for 40 years, then retire. 😂 But that just doesn’t always fit for creative people! My husband is happy as a clam being a teacher for the rest of his working life but I would go nuts doing the same thing every day for years and years. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with either scenario, you have to find what makes you happy and sometimes it’s just the search itself, the exploration. Thats what life is all about, just living it. Do all the things, see all the places, eat all the food. 😂 I think you and Katie are so fun to watch together but I’m also looking forward to you being on the road, finding what interest you!

Katie, I’m with you! I live in Tucson and 68° is perfect. I hate being hot. I think when you’re a creative person and you have numerous interests there is so much you want to do. In my opinion, you’re less likely to be pidgeon holed into one thing long term. Obviously you both are very creative, enjoy learning and experiencing new things. Life truly is about change, variety, learning, new experiences…to be lived. To be able to actually manage to do just that is a gift. I can’t wait to see what’s next. Katie, do you have a traditional job now or is KZbin and reselling your sole career right now? I have sold on eBay since 2000 but in waves as I’m always bored quickly, too. Keep enjoying life! It’s very short.

Katie, I'm so glad you shut down that boy who asked you to prom in front of your class. I was a teacher for 34 years and that smacks of a prank. I'm surprised the teacher didn't see through that and allowed it to happen. Good for you for just saying no.

This podcast leaves me wanting to know more about your life adventures. Jeffrey - you are in the most perfect place for you right now. I have come to realize that these significant life transitions, while a little uncomfortable, are full of promise and discovery of self. kia kaha (stay strong). The best is yet to come.

Every hotel I stayed at last week in Florida had the thermostat at 68 and I was freezing but it was necessary due to the humidity. Do the lounges in the hotels still have live music? After hearing your voice several years ago, I thought of an old friend that played the piano and sang in lounges all over Florida. That might be past your bedtime though. Working on a cruise ship might be an adventure for you. I think a lot of us have wondered if that is all there is to life, to love. It only gets worse when your breath is taken away and you find your soul love and they do not feel the same way. That is when I concentrate on my spiritual self…and amazingly find peace. Peace out. I am an INTJ female.
