I just love y’all! I’m 51 and have had depression and anxiety all my life, although it was only about 5 years ago that I learned it was anxiety. When I was growing up that sort of thing wasn’t really talked about much. I was on anxiety meds for about a year but I don’t like taking pills. What helps me is mindfulness/meditation. This may sound strange but I sit and pretend I just arrived here, I have no past and no future, it’s just now. It totally clears and relaxes your mind. Anyways, this podcast is such a bright spot for me, thank you both as I’ve said before y’all are an absolute treasure ❤️

Thank you for sharing! I am so glad we can help get this topic more out in the open. Meditation can be a wonderful way to relax the mind. There is a song by Ian McConnell called “Important”. It’s about anxiety and the fact that nothing matters anyway and that always helps me.

Meditation and gratitude is so very helpful! I know that covid brought anxiety to the forefront for many people that were doing fine before all the constant death tolls on the daily news. There was no mental health survival kit, just the constant fear of doom and gloom.

Please put the camera where it can capture you both sitting side by side and looking straight forward or maybe sitting in chairs angled across from each other. It was a little distracting on your last video to have you Jeffrey sitting in front and then now with Katie having to turn to look back to talk to you.

I cannot use medication for my anxiety. I have learned a few other coping mechanisms. One is to wear a rubber band on my wrist and snap it to generate a small amount of pain. The second effective method is to use distraction. If you feel yourself beginning to be anxious about a situation, you focus intently on something else. For example I can get anxiety going shopping with other people. If I feel it beginning in a store I begin to examine an item intently and move to the next item. It takes your focus away from your own body which causes the anxiety attack. It actually works...
