A big selling point for CCT to me was the dive + HALO guarantee. It made the careerfield stand out when looking at comparable SOF units in other services. And to be honest, the CCT mission is kind of confusing to civilian recruits off the street who aren't familiar with pathfinder roles, assault zones, or forward air control. Being able to market these other badge-awarding courses likely attracts talented recruits who would otherwise be drawn to Army SF or Ranger Regiment -- to say nothing of the utility and comparative cheapness of the schoolhouse.

We definitely understand your point of view. I guess I would say, the marketing aspect may suffer, but do we really want to ‘sell’ service? I’m not so sure that candidates interested in ‘what the career field will provide to them’ are the folks we need, as opposed to those that want to serve their country. 🤷- A

Fair enough. In my hypothetical, the “service” aspect is already sold to a recruit. Now they’re looking over pamphlets, seeing what unit they want to take a shot at. And all the services spend a ton on recruiting to compete for that talent pool, which is a smaller sliver of the population every year. It’s not the only thing, for sure, but at 18, taking a shot at dive school helped sell it for me personally. I already knew I would enlist, and dive / halo stood out as unique compared to an 18x contract. Granted, recruits these days probably know a lot more about what a CCT does than what my recruiter in ‘09 could explain😅.

The talk about Fajitas at a Mexican restaurant in the intro sounded absolutely delicious; sorry if that was off topic. But regarding the removal of Combat Dive from the CCT, STO, and SR pipelines, I do feel like they should keep A&S alongside Pre Dive as Water Confidence is crucial so that they can be effective Combat Swimmers much like Navy SWCC's. To tell you the truth I think it’s better honestly, water trips up a lot of people that would be good candidates and just need time to get in the water. We lost many guys in our selection class in the Marines due to water, but they just needed more time. I think it’s better because literally they can go to there unit, get more training from guys who did it, and go there and crush it. Perspective boys, yeah it sucks but from what I here that’s in the marines as well, but again guys are going to dive school as soon as they get to their units and are having way more success

Too bad you can't tell your potential AFSOC candidates to just get thier dive certification, take water polo, water swift training and swimming lessons prior to enlistment

Do controllers conduct dive missions often enough to even require this skill? Appearantly not, less time in the pipeline, which is a benefit.

We’ve addressed this a ton; making Controllers less capable solely off of “how much do they do it” isn’t a great strategy. We could apply your logic to a lot of things; “after GWOT how many gunfights are people really gonna get in? No real need for advanced shooting courses” etc etc etc.

For now, it’s SR also. If the mandate is executed and carried through, only PJs will get dive in the pipeline

You can if you are naturalised absolutely, plenty of lads have done it. You can enlist with a greencard, and expedite your citizenship through service; but once you have it, nothing is restricted in principle.

I think civilians should train in individual camouflage against, using on uaw drones since since, it was used in Ukraine on ground troops in the event foreign fighters for Ukraine working for ukropigs "azov/aka neonazis" targeting civilians, people should know amateur radio stuff, since I believe ukraine will be going to target civilians Americans for not supporting Ukraine. I also believe China will become more bold against America, and already been infiltrating into our borders.
