I am just now watching the show for the first time. I have never been so emotionally changed by a show. I'm on S2E6. It's amazing getting to watch these after the episodes to tie it in and see how deeply it affects the cast as well. Great job!

One of my notes from this episode was showing America how safe and healing it can be (at least as a Black woman) when you go to your hairstylist. That is such a sacred space. I love how this show lets America in on the culture! But also how teens (and humans in general) really do need SAFE spaces. It was heartbreaking when Deja felt she could let her guard down but then put those walls right back up. Shout out to Randall, though, for his gentle persistence bc Deja did finally let him in on her trauma in the next episode.

I was thinking while watching this that I can't really think of another show that I would be interested in a rewatch podcast for the entire series. There are many series I have loved and I think having a single podcast would be fun. But this is the only show that an episode by episode rewatch podcast just makes sense. Love it!

I related so hard to Rebecca calling her mom out about being racist, and I actually credit this show for giving me the courage to do it with my own dad. When I was a kid, I couldn’t speak up to my dad. And I kind of felt for a while like I’d just have to accept it forever, but having kids of my own made me realize that it would make me sick to my stomach to hear my dad say any racial slurs or stereotypes in front of my kids, and make them think it’s okay to talk that way. I’ve had to call him out on it a few times over the years, and I appreciate this show for showing me that being a good parent sometimes means being an outspoken child, and I don’t need to feel like I’m a bad daughter for setting boundaries to protect my impressionable children. They were young when 2020 hit and I had to have a big talk with my dad, but kids pay attention, and they’re listening when you think they’re not. And they needed to hear their mom say “this isn’t okay, and you can’t talk to anyone this way, and you ESPECIALLY can’t talk like this in front of my children.”

@@bellaventimiglia35your Dad is prejudiced. Minorities in this country can’t be racist. Racism is Prejudice plus power. Prejudice is the discrimination of someone because of something about their person. Normally outside of their control. Like their race, gender, sexuality, disability, class, ect

That sensitivity issue was something that popped in mind when rewatching the series a few months ago. Thinking about the racism issue with the young versions of Randall but also the weight issue with the young versions of Kate, I always wondered how they were handled and if anyone was involved in helping the kids understand or if it was up to the parents only to have those difficult conversations. Thanks for shedding some light on that.

Just hearing you guys crack jokes and go off on tangents could be it's very own podcast. I love it!! Always a good time hearing the interactions between these spectacular group of individuals. Going back to the actual podcast (lol), the finesse with which the show handled subjects like racism is something rarely seen on television. Kudos to everyone on showing how it's done. I didn't realize that she cut her own hair until she said so on the news program . it was a long time ago so I can't really remember what Deja said but I remember her feelings ,and they were hurt and the news reporter said something along these lines, oh but once you got the check it was better .I was disgusted with the news reporters' words, and I am still🫂💚

I love the Deja/Beth. I watched and loved the documentary good hair by Chris Rock and I remember one of the girls interrogated said she felt "pressured" to have straight hair to work, it was considered more acceptable in the office than afro. Meaning the standard of beauty is looking like a white woman with straight hair. It was very interesting to see how African-American women have perceived their hair and styled it. In all the tv shows and movies I watched all black women wear straight strands or ectentions. Susan Kelechi Watson playing Beth in styles her hair herself said "you know for all this, we just have a different texture hair, and there are beautiful things we could do with our hair, you know?" and I love that she styles her natural hair very differently and playfully. And I think it's a great role model. Showing a smart, strong and beautiful black woman with natural hair.

When i had chicken pox, my little sister was a little over 1 and she still has scars and issues from it. I think if you get it as a child there is a sweet spot where it's annoying but you are usually okay and if your older or younger than that, it's really bad.

We were both sick as all get out, (we both had them on the soles of our feet and palms of our hands)but my mother had it worse than I did. She had them under her eyelids and down her throat! When she talked to our family doctor and asked how far they could go down her throat the doctor laughed and said that they could go as far down as they wanted to .
