As an electrician I bend a SHIT load of pipe. I use a folding ruler to grab existing angles of things. If you’re curious what I’m talking about just google how to match angles with a folding ruler. Extremely trick idea that I taught myself because I got tired of wasting pipe.

one of the first diff i welded for a dirt track car ( 03 RSX type S) ...did't have those reverse threads... but when I reassembled it I had the same problems you guys had and i tried to tap it in with a dead blow hammer.... it sure went in... but I punched the one of the bearings .... perfect round hole in the clutch side of the casing ... like Cleetus says...You live and you learn... Awesome channel Jeremy...keep them coming I'll be watching

Love it, a roll cage within a roll cage .Have you guys seen the UK Top Gear clip of the Smartcar being driven at high speed into a concrete barrier? They are amazingly robust . The cockpit was virtualy unscathed and the driver's door still operated. Can't wait to see this rocket fly down the dragstrip.

I think with the back wheels that much wider than the front they're will be a lot less chance of a roll over. Very good for a burn out car. Not so good for us who wants to see a sideways wheelie.

I remember back in the day, Jeremy bought a 'shop car'. Perfect for quck runs to the store for tacos and parts. And only a few short months later, it now has words seldom applied to a Smart car, like 'agressive'. Can't wait to see what it does on the strip, or just the reaction when you tech it in. It's been awesome to watch the combination of mad skillz, and plain mad! :)

And for once I'm loveing the fact you guys have always gong out of the box this time way out of the box and this will be the best smart car build ever everyone always go for the God dam bike motor you guys had the balls big balls to go and do it the right way and the most fun way it don't matter to me what motor you got in it but as long as you go with anything other than a bike one and of course I'd love it if you tryed a L's in one but for size and one off the Honda motor rocks plus it keeps it in the smaller size your the best out there and getting pfi and the boosted boys on with you for this could not have been better keep it up guys you rock and good luck to your family and friends over this dam virus ok

Its been done in quebec canada 4-5 years ago last that i know went 12.40 in the ¼ mile at 100 mph +, the guy use a k20z3 from a si 06-11 honda civic si. They keep the original wheel base off the smart. They also build the subframe. Awesome build !

I’ve used Honda n Yamabonds. Both are great for sealing up cases on bikes n pwcs. Lock tite also makes a sealer that is like a red gel n when it dries it’s hard like candy. Yamaha uses it on their pwc’s. Cool trick is to use a syringe that you usually can find near fiberglass materials. Cut a small slit n squeeze bonding agent in the syringe n then use the syringe to go around case. I feel like I can get better beads of it around without overdoing it n getting to much excess inside the case when reassembling

Hey guys .Yall need to.make sure that the upper control arm and the inner tie rod end are mounted the same distance apart as the car they came from or you will create bump steer in the rear. They need to travel inward at the same rate as the suspension compresses or the tire will turn in or out as it moves up and down.

So sick! I hope Ben is taking antisquat geometry into account with that upper control arm mounting. I would imagine you would want as much antisquat as you can get to help keep the front end down.

We used to get a ladle melt down a forged piston , plug the bottom of the diff and pour in the alloy , make sure the axles are in , problem with welding is the spider gears pull causing issues like axles braking etc.

Needs a huge chrome wing. Like off a old dually tow rig. Scratch that. Full aero kit. A huge wing coming off the back would look awesome. Like a pikes peak car or something lol. Hope you can find some kind of matching wheels. Some fat tires on the back would be awesome too.

Nice job. You guys need a stock car builders help. The rear drops could have been made to unbolt look at a side by side cage .they sell the ends. x cup fab/ rear tire carrier. And the coil overs could have had eyes. Very nice work guys

Port (port side of the boat) and starboard is originally from the old Viking boats which had their steering board (rudder) on the right hand side. They could not dock the boats with the steering board side towards the quay as that would destroy their steering board. Hence you had a port side of the boat and a steering board side of the boat. Oh, and the Norwegian word for steering board is «styrebord» which is pronounced very close to how starboard and is the origin of the English word 😉

Dang reverse threads will get you! The top of Tesla battery packs have reverse threaded plugs but luckily I too have the midas touch and we got them out without messing any up! Even as a spacex engineer they never tell you stuff like that lol

You guys should figure out a way to the both racks together (should be easy with some creative milling and some heim joints) and give it 4 wheel steering. The welded diff would definitely give it ultimate sketch and make it rabid squirrel wild.
