Total newbie here. I believe when you say "fishermen's knot" you are referring to the "One Knot" that is referenced in the book and other materials. So, I think I have the tippet (yellow rope) knot figured out. But, how do you tie the main line (orange rope) knot?

How would you tie the tippet to a furled line that already has a loop on the end of it? Would a clinch knot work?

Which knot would you use to attach the tippet to a furled leader with a loop at the tippet end?

one knot is pretty difficult to tie on a line ... is it better than clinch? is it worth the struggle?

Hi Anton, so, I think every new knot takes some getting used to in the beginning. I used to use a clinch almost exclusively some years ago. Then I decided to really learn this knot that Dr. Ishigaki had shown me. I was hesitant and struggled a bit early on, but I liked the simplicity of it as a form of connecting anything in the tenkara system. After a few tries, and then sometime using this knot I became a huge fan of it. And I'm glad I learned it. But mostly it is a great knot for someone who may not know other knots and doesn't want to learn a few different knots for line to rod, tippet to line, and tippet to fly. This allows only one knot to be used. But, if you're used to the clinch and like using it, then by all means, there is nothing wrong with it.
