Give me the real fly rod and the finesse to use it. This is more like using a bamboo pole to dunk the worm except it is lighter and the lure is different. To each their own but there is, for me anyway, a certain pleasure in watching the line lay a dry fly gently on the water and seeing the swirl as the fish takes it.

Give it a few years. Fly fishing was simple, before glossy catalogs.

would some 1/16 to 1/32 heat shrink tubing and a small piece of string with a knot tied in it work as well in a pinch when you don't have Lilian material? heat shrink tubing is insane cheap and light, and also works well with a small lighter.

In Merica we call this Cane Pole fly fishing. This aint something we just learned this from the Japanese. My Ole man been fly fishing like this with a cane pole in the deep south of Arkasas back when he was a kid.

what rod is suitable for bigger fish and/or river with fast current? think 17"-20" brown and rainbow trout. I need something equivalent of 6wt western fly rod in fighting power.

This type of fishing looks to be very fun. I am limited to how I can fish and what rods I can use. What is the difference between Tinkara USA and buying them directly from China like Tinkara USA does? I would rather pay for the same Tenkara Rod at a fraction of the price than to over pay for the same product. 😮

Well - I have the problem - will try this (the second option) and see if I can solve it. The "cord" does look a little open/frayed at the tip - so I hope I cant get it back in okay.

What caught my attention about Tenkara is the effectiveness and simplicity of high-sticking with a long rod, essentially sans fly line, on broken water.

Tenkara relies on one concept.....an appeal to antiquity. All Asian products sold to westerners rely on appeals to antiquity. 100s of years old.....1000000000s of years to master....etc.

Ok I was in Japan and saw this style of fishing many times. Ultimately, they caught very small fish. Easy under a pound. But for them that was OK. In America it would be bait.

Great video. Thanks. But my tippet is 5x, so only a little thicker than a strand of hair. Your tippet here is very thick and easier to put this knot in. What tippet are you using here?

This was a great beginners kit for a great price. kzbin.infoUgkxKRURvLsu9Vvyw7gIuvt8FsApoQNCdz-1 Its given us a huge variety to test out and see what works well and what we like to use. Majority of the flies have stayed together well, but some of the rainbow warriors did unravel after catching a few blue gill. All in all, this was a great kit and are so happy with the purchase and value for money.

Best rod for the money. It is very strong and sensitive. It’s on the heavy side but it’s excellent for dead stick

Rod/reel combo with fishing kit as an emergency setup kzbin.infoUgkxntWMOZsO1Zfv-pdn_XuffEtNkTYAYu4Z recommend but started to use this every day. The rod is thick and seems durable. I keep it neatly tucked into a regular backpack all the time with my fishing gear, and can grab it anytime, put it on my back and go anywhere. I just read in another review that the rod length below the reel is adjustable as well, so I will try that too for even more portability. Probably the best setup I've ever owned. I lost the cap for the eyelets, but no big deal since I still have the black cloth sheath that came for the pole and I use that. Very portable and high quality.

Wow just seeing this out of the box kzbin.infoUgkxQr1yd4Zc6qJF-scTB6Zb9dQbVpviuRxB recommend I have yet to fish with this set up, but based on the first hands on appeal, I can tell this is going to change the way i pack and carry to a whole new level. If you fish like i do, you know the smaller and less stuff the better. I’ve added a photo of just some of my gear so you can see how serious i am about fishing.
