I Love “we know God Because of Joseph Smith”.

My heart has been touched by analyzing Joseph Smith experiences . I was wondering if l could do the same at that time at my young age . This lesson is teaching us many details of life . I was shivering by your sweet comments , your experiences and experience of others . Life is so crucial and so hard . We are learning by making mistakes . It hurts us so bad but this the way we are “ learning” process. I was picturing faces , attitudes and other reactions when the pages were lost. It was terribly sad. Wow!! You both took me over there. I can not say more. My feelings are teaching me right now. I am deeply pondering about that. Joseph wanted help and he didn’t want to discourage the man who had a solvent situation. Poor Joseph . I understood him . l know the rest… Thank you so much! This mortal stage is all about that. Struggling what it is best, temptation when we think we are doing well and at the end we have learned hard lessons through hard decisions. I am amazed about our Redeemer, how much He loves us a. We are still little children when we are even at the senior age. I love ❤️ my Lord and His Gospel and you both too. Muchas gracias.🥀

It was my 1st time listening to your podcast and I was so amazed how you presented the timeline and your thoughts about the events. I was so enlighten and even shared it with my whole family for them to listen and learn a lot from it.

I hope all Saints are reading the New Testament. It is a witness to the work of the Doctrine and Covenants and has solidified my testimony of this Church.

I would have been so tempted to help Martin Harris. I totally understand why he did it but it teaches us that no matter what we need to trust God.

I also think that Joseph felt compassion for his friend Martin Harris, and that also played a part in him lending the manuscript to him.😢

Around 19:40, I think I just made a connection… remember when Alma is counselling his wayward son in the BoM and he follows a method that shows us what “good parenting” is and how we should correct our own children? The Lord is following that structure here, I think. He first rebukes and chastises, then he lets him know that there is still hope, and lastly he outlines exactly how he (Joseph Smith) can fix things.

So good! Excellent episode. I do disagree with one idea, however. You said we have to change our heart because God can’t. I understand that we have to exercise our agency by asking for help with changing our heart, but we can’t do it on our own. That’s why we’re told to “ask with all the energy of our heart for charity, which is bestowed” as a spiritual gift. Sometimes I actually don’t want to serve so I ask the Lord to help me want to serve. I don’t know how to reach down into my heart and change negative feelings, but I know the Lord will help me change what I can’t.

Why do we remember Martin Harris for losing the 116 pages, Thomas for doubting the resurrection, Peter for denying?!?! Instead we should remember the sacrificing Martin, the Thomas willing to die in Jerusalem with Jesus, Peter who was crucified upside down for Christ!!! Let’s focus on the good in people instead of magnifying their faults and mistakes!

Hi Dino. I appreciate your comment. But it’s not that we’re “focusing on the bad.” These episodes have been recorded in the scriptures for a reason. And as Moroni suggests it is not so we can condemn them, but rather so that we could be grateful for a chance to be more wise than they have been (Mormon 9:31). The good that comes out of their mistakes is that we get to learn from theirs and don’t have to make our own mistakes. I think if we stopped talking about these things, they themselves would rise up and be upset. We would then run the risk of making those mistakes ourselves. I am so grateful for Joseph Smith and Martin Harris for teaching me and everyone that I teach an eternal lesson.

@ whoa hey that was totally not my intention! I probably just phrased that wrong. I was definitely not calling you guys out! I loved the entire lesson. I love discussing the lost manuscript and the entire story. We definitely need to talk about it and about Martin’s role in it. This was just a take away from my studies. I think I probably fell into a bad habit of immediately thinking “lost manuscript” when I hear the name “Marin Harris.” Instead I could think “Marin Harris… one of the three witnesses.” Sorry I didn’t mean for my comment to sound that way 😂. Again I loved the lesson I was more just talking about me not labeling and judging people off their mistakes and instead I could also remember the good those people do. I’m definitely not saying not to talk about this… we 100% should! Sorry for the misunderstanding. You guys know I’m your biggest fan 😂 I haven’t missed a lesson in over a year at least haha

I noticed the pronouns for the Lord (god, he, I) changed as well as Joseph’s. (Man, you, Joseph) Amazing insight. Thanks
