I saw Dimash live in NY in 2019 b/c a friend begged me to take her - it was a one time show on a Tues night & I had never heard of the kid in my life - we live about 90 min away in Philadelphia & she was scared to go alone so I agreed & more importantly the show was sold out but b/c I worked concert security for years in Phila & knew the people who handled the arena in Brooklyn so they'd let me walk in w/ a guest & stand off to the side & watch for free...... I could not believe what I witnessed & over the years I have seen Every major act there is & this kid blows them ALL away - he is a freak.... w/o question Dimash is the best vocalist in the world..... his range is nutz but it is So much more than that! His control and technique are pristine..... Live his talent, professionalism and ability to deliver an emotional, pitch perfect performance one song after another for 3 or 4 hours was SHOCKING

You can follow DImash for years and still don't know what genre or style you'll get from him. Pop, rock, folk, opera, rap, jazz, chinese traditional, europop or something completely different - he does it all and only he knows what his next song is going to be like. With Dimash, just trust him and enjoy all the surprises he gives you. The SOS performance you watched was back in 2017, he was good then but even better now - add 6 years of development, improvement and artistic growth.

This is the first time per Dimash that he has performed on “the adult stage”. He is 22 and had to go first, also the only non Chinese competing. He will be 29 on May 24, 2023 so wish him a Happy Birthday. Dimash has worked hard to achieve his dream and goals since his grandmother put him in music school at age 5. I am sure it was not easy but Dimash knows what he wants and works hard 7 days a week achieving his dream. Extremely kind, family oriented, and humble young man. I’m 65, dealing with some issues so I listen to Dimash who lifts my spirits. Thank you for your reaction. Remember this was in 2017. Continue watching him because he is super great now. Part of the reason the audience was so enthusiastic at the beginning was that the Kazakh man did such a great job of introducing Dimash. I don't know if you can tell, but Alai's Chinese is really exceptional. I've lived in China for about 20 years and I've almost never heard a foreign person speak it as well as he did. That grabbed the audience's attention and made them really eager and excited to hear what was coming next.

Dimash is now 29 years old now.. Also I want to say you are the first reactor that has gotten his last name pronounced correctly. This song launched him into an overnight success.. literally requiring body guards the next day. In this competition the songs are chosen for them. Look up his performance of The Show Must Go On. He has a week to learn the song and have his arrangement done...also at that point he was not very good at English. He has a 7 octave range and able to hit the bass notes.

This was 6 years ago, you should hear him today! He’s incredible! He sings in all genres too! He’s a worldwide star now but because he won’t sign a contract with the West (thank God!) he’s not mainstream yet! he had a sell out solo concert at The Barclay Centre New York in Dec 2019. He has solo concerts all over the world generally to audiences of 30,000 to 50,000. He has now increased his range to well over 7 octaves (I think it was around 6 octaves in 2017 which is when he was on The Singer competition in China for famous singers, as the first foreigner invited to compete when he was 22. The way I found to celebrate the majesty of Dimash's talent was to have written the following about him: If I were to rule the world, I would immediately add, to the universal declaration of human rights, another article (they would become 31) whose wording would next "All human beings have the right, at least once in their lives, to hear Dimash sing". I am a Professor and I believe that I have a special profession that allows me to transform the human heart and consequently the human society. I work with young people and young people need to have good references. I had been looking for someone for a long time, of whom I could speak to the young people I work with, as a good reference. That person should be young, a super talent, a super mega star in the art world and above all, because he is the most important, a good human person. I searched and never found anyone with these characteristics. Until, finally, I found this person and that person is Dimash. Thank you for discovering Dimash and welcome to a beautiful world of music. Dimash is a 28-years old singer from Kazakhstan and believe me, you’ve seen nothing at all. In my opinion you have discovered the best singer in the world. He has perfect pitch and currently has a vocal range of 7,7 octaves (vocal fry C1 (B0) - whistle D8 off the piano). That means he hits notes in almost 8 octaves and sings consistently in 6 octaves. Not in one song (mostly😅). At least what he has shown us so far. He plays several instruments like piano, dombra (a kazach instrument), drums, marimba and more. He has classical as well as contemporary vocal training and sings in different genres from opera to pop, jazz, Kazakh folk, ballads and he even raps a bit. And often he skillfully mixes several genres in one song. Mainly classic and pop, so he created a new crossover genre. And meanwhile in more than 10 languages. The latest songs (from Tokyo Jazz Festival in November 2021) are Ikanaide in Japanese and at his concert in Almaty on September 23, 2022 he sang a new song in Spanish (about 7 languages in one concert!). And at his concert in Yerevan on April 29, 2023, he sang an Armenian folk song for the first time (it has to be about 15 languages so far). He sings no mainstream and is a completely independent artist. He is managed by his father Kanat, who founded his own company "DimashAli Creative Center". The logo can be seen at the beginning of many of Dimash's videos. Maybe that’s the reason you never heard of him yet. He doesn’t sell his soul to a music label. He doesn’t want to be dictated by money when he has to sing what, when, where and how. Many of my favorite songs are in his native tongue. He is a nice, respectful and humble person. He respects people regardless of their original, religion or profession. He truly loves his homeland Kazakhstan and his people with all his heart and always shows it with pride in many of his songs, concerts and interviews. During his concerts in Dubai, Düsseldorf and Prague in 2022, before he performed his song War And Peace, he told the audience he loves all people in every country. And there are no bad nations (only bad leaders). And I absolutely believe this. His concert in September 23, 2022 was in his hometown Almaty, it was so amazing and it lasts almost 4 hours. Believe it or not but he really gets better and better. Every time you think you know him and his art, you realize you are so wrong. He's very spiritual and thankful for the gift God has given him. But he also works very hard to constantly improve his vocal skills. He said in an interview that he trains at least 3 hours every day, if necessary, it can be 10 hours to prepare for a concert. He loves swimming and also a lot under water. Maybe that's why he has this large lung capacity to hold the notes as long as he does. He's a singer you can't put in any box. He sings almost every genre there is. Every time you watch a video, expect the unexpected. Even the covers he sings he makes his own and brings elements into the song that you would never expect. Don't be surprised if you get suggestions for songs you may have already seen. Dimash has different versions of many of the same songs. They are all worth seeing. SOS is a song in the rock-opera „Starmania“ from 1978. The first who presented this song was the French singer and songwriter Daniel Balavione. SOS was the first performance of the China competition (in 2017) and was his first appearance in this show. The Singer is a show in China where only established singers are invited to perform. All the singers invited to this show are already well-known artists in China who have already won awards. Dimash was invited as the first foreigner as a wild card and the youngest in the history of this show. BTW the audience is also the jury. During the Opera 2 performance, he flirted with the audience in a way that wasn’t really his habit at the time (fortunately that has changed in the meantime). And afterwards he said that he was really uncomfortable that his father saw him like that🤭. Luckily he didn’t find out until afterwards because I love it when he’s like that on stage🥰. I love this video because he still seemed so innocent. Just a boy and he didn't seem as serious as he sometimes is these days. He still looked carefree. The Singer , it was a Chinese show for highly respected singers to compete, Dimash was the only non Chinese singer invited because the producer saw him perform for the Chinese and Kazakh presidents and was very impressed. SOS is the song that introduced Dimash to the world and opened many great opportunities and collaborations for him. There are a number of versions of Dimash singing this song, each different but all great. The song SOS comes from the famous 1978 Canadian-French rock opera 'Starmania', which is well known in French-speaking countries, and is a pretty difficult song to sing. In 2017 Dimash received a wild card for the competition “The Singer” in China. He was the youngest participant ever at 22 years old and the first non-Chinese. Only professional, award-winning singers take part in this competition. Although well-known and respected in his homeland Kazakhstan, few in China knew or heard about Dimash before, but with his first song, SOS, Dimash shocked the audience and captured the hearts of over 600 million of viewers overnight, and the rest is history as the saying goes.

Thank you for saying this, because this really is his purest and most vocally controlled version of this piece. Every note is so well placed, every tone is so perfectly rendered. Even the very last note was perfection. I don’t believe Dimash has been able to repeat this level of perfection for this song. This is definitely one for the history books and I come back to it hundreds of times and still feel a thrill listening to it. Just beautiful. I feel that Gregory LeMarchal and the writers of this song are smiling from up there, looking down, when they hear this most beautiful rendition of their emotionally affecting song. He only He speaks Kasakho, Russian, Chinese not as well as he wishes, English the same as Chinese not as well as he would like. But it lets itself be understood. He sings in several languages, apart from those already mentioned he sings in French, Italian, Spanish, Armenian, Turkish, Japanese, and will surely sing in indonesio this june when he performs in Indonesia.
