This song was written in 1978. It captivates people to this day, and many singers have covered it since it was written. Dimash`s cover of it became the perfect introduction to his vocal capabilities. In 2017, when he participated in a competition for established singers in China (he was a 22 yo wild card without an established career), he sang this in the first episode, and the next day the producers assigned him bodyguards. He gained a chinese fanbase of millions during that show, and later videos of his performances there spread across the globe, bringing him international fame. Dimash was inspired to cover 'SOS' by Gregory Lemarchal`s version. Gregory passed away at age 24, of cystic fibrosis which severely affected his lungs. He sang SOS with the voice of an angel at a time when he only had 20% lung capacity left. Dimash kept only some of the lyrics, giving the song a stripped down, philosophical meaning. Some of the lyrics, like "I didn`t get the right number (at the lottery of the universe)" didn`t really fit his own life, as it unfortunately fit Gregory`s tragic destiny, of having to live with a deadly genetic condition. Initially Dimash probably sang "SOS" for the range, in a couple of competitions, then he started using it as tribute to artists who died young, rolling pictures of them on stage during his concerts : Whitney Houston, Michael Jackson, Freddie Mercury, Gregory Lemarchal himself, Amy Winehouse, Chester Bennington, and many others. After 2018, for a couple of years, he used 'SOS' as a tribute and gentle goodbye to his friend Denis Ten, kazakh figure skater, who had skated to his cover in competition, and they were planning to do a performance together, but Denis was killed in 2018 at age 25 by thieves trying to rob parts of his car. "Why do I live ? Why do I die ?" "I think I receive waves coming from another world" "Sleep, child, sleep" got a whole new level of meaning in the contexts above. 2020-2022 he rolled images of painful events that sometimes make us wish we could "fly like a bird, hoping the world would be more beautiful from above" - natural disasters, the burning of Notre Dame Cathedral, then pandemic doctors, nurses, and hospitals. After 4 years of heavy meaning, in the last 2 concerts, which kickstarted his new tour (september 2022 and Armenia last week), he used an utopian city landscape, and left it abstractly philosophical :)

This song introduced him to worldwide fame back in China 2017..hes unstoppable😂 He's into neoclassical genre, a crossover artist, mixing diff, styles of music in one song but can also sing in all kinds of genre, he even raps. He can imitate instruments with his voice. Stranger should be nxt, another mind blowing performance. He has a diverse fans from all over the world, from babies to grannies, with all diff cultures, diff languages but united with this man. He has imminse talent but very humble and modest. You are not rambling. On the contrary, you've pinpointed it perfectly by stating that everyone should listen to something of such beauty they have never heard before. Those who haven't yet often believe our claim about Dimash being the best singer and alone in his category is overrated, until they listen... That is why Dimash's fans come from all walks of life, from all cultures, all languages, all ages and all preferred musical genres. Everyone recognizes greatness when they listen and watch Dimash sing.

This song is from a late 70's rock opera from Quebec. It has been one of Dimash's go to songs for singing competitions because of its vocal range, so I wouldn't take all of the lyrics as a statement from Dimash, because they relate to the story. Many of us heard the version of this song from the Chinese show Singer 2017 as our starting point, and there are other songs from that competition worth checking out, but they might not be as impressive after watching his more recent performances, because he keeps improving.

None of us expected Dimash. This is my journey which started last November 1. First time viewing/hearing: SHOCK. Questioning everything you ever knew about music. 2. Getting to hear a few more tunes: EUPHORIA. Chronic smiling and release of tension. Questioning how deep is the rabbit hole. 3. Listening daily. Not caring if you even understand the lyrics. EPIPHANIES: I.E. Realizing the absolute necessity of a Bucket List with that a DQ concert as #1. 4. Discovering his humility. DISILLUSIONMENT. Questioning everything you thought you knew about anything, especially entertainers as role models. And realizing that it's not a rabbit hole. It's a stairway to Heaven 5. Reaction Videos. Best Prank to pull on anyone ever. GUILTY PLEASURE: I know something they don't. This always entails LOTs of laughter on my part. Most common thought while watching "Just wait". 😂 6. Embarking on the journey of a DEAR. HOPE. Feeling a sense connection and sharing a common experience with people across the planet. Watching and interacting with others on the journey. Finding myself learning the lyrics... forgetting that its not in English. Wanting to visit Kazakhstan... and be a better person.

The best way I can describe the way he makes me feel is that he reaches inside you with his voice & raw emotions to actually sing & he touches your soul. I remember discovering Dimash & going down that rabbit hole he brought me to tears many, many times like no artist has ever done. Enjoy your journey with Dimash & if I could suggest one thing, please read his lyrics after listening to his songs. The lyrics of his songs are just as moving as the singing. You can't really read the captions while listening to the songs his voice will just take over & you'll miss the lyrics of the song, which are just as amazing. Dimash works with his voice almost all his life, his parents sing, his mother is a soprano, he since childhood tells us that he sang high, he has a gift that he clearly says that God has given him, there is a lot of work here, he usually practices 3 or 4 hours a day and when a concert approaches he comes to work 10 hours, that's why his concert last between 3 and 4 hours and he says he's not tire. This is a really great list -- if doing Sinful Passion -- someone pointed out the high quality fan video that I think is a much better and well filmed performance with great sound and I think just a slightly better performance than the more popular one... and I'm so happy you linked Drunken Concubine / Diva Dance -- the sound quality is better without the subtitles sadly but the subtitles help give it meaning, so that one is difficult on choosing which to react to, but I have also seen people react to both his short performance Diva Dance at the festival and then react to the duet after just to show how Dimash can do the full range but also to see how he improvs and has so much range to do things differently and I always find those reactions great too because Diva Dance is such a short song (and I don't think fans of Dimash ever get tired of hearing him sing such an out of this world... literally... song. A song composed to be impossible to sing, and Dimash is by far IMO the closest to doing it by far and my favorite and I love the flavor and special Dimash spice he adds to every performance... such a great list!!!

They just released a new song video “ Together “ ( the name of the song). He definitely is the best male vocalist in the world. His voice breaks my soul. He is a gift from God to us. Thank you for the great reaction. Hello 👋 from Vietnam 🇻🇳.

Welcome to the world of Dimash! Thank you so much for your genuine appreciation of Dimash’s insane talent. He’s not only an exceptional vocalist, but also an accomplished musician, and an amazing performer. Dimash has a vocal range of over 7 octaves, which is quite impressive; but that’s not what defines him. He sounds exquisite at any range, which is incredible in and of itself. Besides, his voice has so many colors and tone to it, not mentioning his vocal dynamics. His voice is soaring only to express his intense emotions, whether it’s a cry for help (SOS), a yearning (Samaltau), or to express pain or loss (The Story of One Sky). Dimash, being a composer himself (“Unforgettable Day”- Ұмытылмас күн, The Story of One Sky, El Amor en Ti…), knows how the song he interprets must be delivered. Indeed, what I love about Dimash is that he does not use his vocal abilities to show off, but to serve the song: through his voice, he’s telling us a story. In short, he’s not only a masterful vocalist - It’s precisely thanks to his mastery that Dimash is able to freely dive, and tap, into his emotions; but he’s also a great storyteller. What I love about him as well is the way he immerses himself in the songs he sings. Dimash is classically trained - he even declined a position as an opera singer when he was only 22, and has absolute pitch (a rare cognitive trait by the way) which was discovered when he was only 5 years old. I put some links below of great songs to react to. I’m sure other Dears (aka Dimash fans) will suggest many more! Take your time and enjoy your musical journey into discovering this amazing Independent Artist from Kazakhstan! Please check out “Sinful Passion”, my favorite rendition recorded by a fan cam during his Moscow concert on March 2019 [high quality Fancam]. Here’s the link: kzbin.info/www/bejne/q6mvmaqce6uIh9U Since it’s recorded as is, no post production here: Dimash’s live singing is flawless. I was lucky enough to have attended his solo concert in NY back in 2019: I became a Dear for life then! STRANGER (New Wave / Новая Волна 2021), his original song, composed by Igor Krutoy, a Russian-Ukrainian composer, specifically for Dimash: kzbin.info/www/bejne/onfWc2h-i9OgiaM (whenever you see Igor Krutoy accompanying him on the piano during a live performance, it means that he composed the song for Dimash) “Ikanaide” (in Japanese. Cover): kzbin.info/www/bejne/bp6wXpWmarV1aZY AVE MARIA | New Wave 2021 kzbin.info/www/bejne/o32qaZpopNR5iaM (not the Schubert’s version but Igor Krutoy’s, the composer who accompanies Dimash at the piano in the video). Note: Please check out (in your downtime or with us) this short video of his vocal practice session (link: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iInCZYd6arpoqpo); and you’ll understand why he’s the king of vocal dynamics: his mastery of the crescendo and diminuendo is incredible, and he was only 22 in that video. Fast forward a few years time and you have Dimash doing the exact same thing at the end of Ave Maria. Omir Oter | 2021 kzbin.info/www/bejne/bIvKap2Bh7N2fJo (his original, in Kazakh, composed for him) Samaltau | 2021 (traditional Kazakh song with a Dimash flair) kzbin.info/www/bejne/h5-0k6B4a7CLg6c El Amor En Ti |(Almaty Concert, 2022. Dimash composed the music) kzbin.info/www/bejne/gmizfn9vish-rac “Unforgettable Day”- Ұмытылмас күн | 2021 (his original Kazakh song, Dimash composed the music when he was 18) kzbin.info/www/bejne/jWanY2Opg9uhfrs Golden | 2021 (his original song, pop/rock) kzbin.info/www/bejne/hGq1Z2mYfs6Ui6s “Qairan Elim” (his original and first directorial debut) kzbin.info/www/bejne/gWWYopeIdq6Kl68 “The Story of One Sky” (Dimash composed the music, his latest masterpiece) is a heartfelt plea for peace and unity: although we are divided into different countries, races and faiths, we all share the same sky. kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z4HWm6qpbpx5paM Cheers from Texas!

You've been DIMASHIFIED!😮🎉❤ Sometimes it takes one and then sometimes it takes two. After 2, the addiction sets strong. Us Dears, officially embrace your soul in this jaw dropping journey. Olympico would be a good as a next choice. The lyrics are powerful on that one too. Ave Maria is a song everybody pretty much knows. Dimash performs this song with no words. At the end of Ave Maria Dimash sings such a PERFECT note sustained It seems the most machine created note ever. I've listened to all of this music everyday and that one note still drops my jaw. Just one regular sustained note but perfectly. SOMEHOW MORE PERFECTLY THAN THE OTHER ONES THAT ARE PERFECT. I really don't understand why I love it so much. A simple note.😅

This was a live digital concert for his fans during lockdown ✨🤍✨ 🆘 The song itself is from Starmania a Canadian-French cyberpunk rock opera written in 1976. 👼🏻 Gregory Lemarchal was a young French singer who was the inspiration for DIMASH to sing 🆘 “SOS d'un terrien en detresse" Diagnosed with cystic fibrosis at a young age, Gregory defined all odds and won the fourth series of the singing contest Star Academy. He became an overnight sensation in France and went on to have a successful career. He was known for "La voix d'un ange"- the voice of an angel. Gregory succumbed to his illness at the age of “23💔” This video is a tribute to his memory. 🥺😢😭💔❤️‍🩹❤️ So that there in no confusion as too “WHY DIMASH” sings this song. It is in the “Tribute to Gregory” and his message. Hello again. One evening four years ago I found Dimash. About five hours later, at 2 in the morning I made myself go to bed. SOS first and then Sinful Passion. I watch these videos over and over and over. I googled to see if what I was hearing and seeing was real. I was in tears all night long. I'm 62 years old in a professional musician and singer. We have never seen or heard anything like this in our lives. Yes he is real but it seems unreal. You are reacting appropriately. Everyday I still watch and listen to reactions of these two songs especially and others by him. I cry every time. Course that's me because I got something wrong with my head. But you know what I mean it never gets old. This guy is like I don't know what. Can't wait to see him alive. Sinful Passion Adagio Stranger would be my next three picks for you. And then one day watch his epic opus achievement, the Story of One Sky. But get a few of his songs under your belt first. That one might be a bit much.

Te sugiero escuchar Stranger, Olímpico, Sinfull passion, Across endless dimensions, Oceans over the time, su obra maestra: Requiem: The story of one Sky y todas las que puedas!

He speaks fluently 2 languages, his native kazakh and russian. He`s getting better at english, and for a while he studied mandarin, as he spent several months in China after participating in the show 'The singer". He has sung in more languages than that, currently sings in 7 in his concerts (english, french, italian, mandarin, kazakh, russian, and latest addition, spanish). The lyrics on his stage prompters are in cyrillic alphabet (native), latin alphabet (with it`s variations and different diacritics for spanish, french etc), romanized chinese (with it`s own diacritics and counterintuitive vowel pronunciations). 'Y' in cyrillic is read as [oo], in spanish as [i], etc. Which accounts for little mishaps here and there, and Dimash`s english being called by fans "Dinglish". He`s not perfect, but it doesn`t make him less lovable 😁But artistically, he`s kinda perfect 😁💗 Vocally, he has the range and the technique, and works on them to stay in tune and to improve. He doesn`t always use it the same, as deeply contrasting, he performs songs with variations, sometimes as artistic improvisation, sometimes to give his cords a bit of an easier job, depending on the event and the length of it. But it always sounds beautiful. And when he doesn`t feel good enough to access all his vocal capability, he puts in a lot of emotion and makes it gorgeous. I thought he was an alien for a long time as well :) I learned that he is human :) But there`s one place where I can`t really find any flaws, and that`s his artistic vision :)

Dimash is the best singer in the WORLD and there are no doubts about that, his voice is a prodigy of nature and a genetic marvel since his parents are two glories of singing from Kazakhstan since he was 5 years old, he sings publicly and has more than twenty years of lyrical training and graduated from the university of music, he is a singer, composer, arranger and multi instrumentalist, he plays more than seven musical instruments and sings in more than twelve(12) languages, he is also a great performer and a great artist who lives and feels music He is not an imitator of voices , Dimash has his own style and is one of the forerunners of the "POPera" he also has a very pleasant, HUMBLE and simple personality, easy access, which makes it very easy to follow, he always travels with His family and friends is a very educated person and an example to follow, he has become known for his musical talent not for getting into trouble or scandals, It has a very wide vocal range of approximately 7 octaves ,he is a singer with a wide vocal range very versatile is Baritone, TENOR , Soprano, counter TENOR, mezasoprano, everything at the same time is how to have 5 singers in one, it has a male and female voice, also many resources such as vibrato, "melismas", falsetto, Staccato, whistle tone, reaching a( D8 )live "Outside of Piano"at the concert of Gakku in an unforgettable day, at his young age he continues to improve and grow musically to perfection, he has a good physical presence he measures 191 cm or 6 "3", he is very famous and recognized in Asia and now he is becoming known In Europe and America, ALL their songs are spectacular, it always goes from low to high, soft to spectacular at the end, in my almost half a century of life I never heard so much quality and it is the hope of continuity of the classical genre because all the old tenors have already Almost all of them died and Dimash can sing like them but none of them can sing like Dimash, being a Man he sings better than any Tenor and his female voice is superior to that of any average Soprano, greetings and a hug from USA 🇺🇸 "Dears" Forever ❤️ Sorry for copying and pasting my informative comment in ALL the Video reactions to Dimash what I see but I do it with the intention of sharing information about him and what I think that in the music industry there are many artists who have been successful and have no talent and are bad people and they do not set a good example for the youth, Dimash and his music deserve to triumph in America, Europe and the whole WORLD, do you want to have already read my comment please come by without problem there is always someone who for the first time knows this information and I won't get tired of sharing it with all my friends"Dear" around the world, thanks for reading and for supporting Dimash 🙏🏻S.O.S. Hello from Russia. Thanks for a nice reaction, Nick. But make no mistake. Dimash's dears often get a little carried away about him and create myths. One of the most popular ones on the Internet is his ability to speak many languages. The simple truth is Dimash is bilingual. He speaks his native Kazakh and Ruissian as all the people in Kazakhstan do (a post Soviet republic) and he knows some English on a basic level. That is all. Which makes him no less fantastic.

I don't know -- I've seen him interview in English and he speaks better English than plenty of Americans that I know haha ;) -- I think that since so many of us are not bilingual just that someone who can understand questions and provide answers even if they trip up a bit, I find that to be fluent enough since most Americans have trouble just asking "Do you speak English?" and "Where is the toilet?" in any other language except for English. But yeah his last interview I saw, I guess it would be a stretch to call him "fluent" but he clearly understood the interviewer and it was more than basic because he clearly understood even some pretty complex questions being posed. He probably could not have a deep philosophical / grad school level discussion, but I think that as long as people did not mumble and let him take time to choose his words he could have a full conversation with many people on many topics from what I've seen in his progression so far -- he seems to be picking it up VERY fast.

But I'd also add that I've noticed that a lot of polyglots have incredibly high standards with people speaking other languages. My swedish friends for instance spoke English (and several other languages) so well that I would forget that it was not their native tongue and they were SO smart that sometimes I would accidentally use a really niche word like "didactic" or "prognostication" -- forgetting that I wasn't talking to one of my friends in my town full of grad students in the US and it wasn't their first language and then my one friend would ask what it meant and then start on a thing about how smart I was knowing words he didn't know... *sigh* No, I shouldn't be dropping those words in ESL conversations. Their English was just so seamless I would forget who I was talking to. When they would do the same and accidently talk Swedish to me I couldn't even ask them in Swedish what it meant... I just stared dumbfounded. So who really was the smart one?

And again, this is only the tip of the iceberg. As Dears (the name he gave his fans because we are dear to him like family), most of us, if not all, listen to him every day and I have never stopped getting chills. There are songs where his voice does sound like an instrument (eg. Electric guitar, dombra, flute etc) He transports us into another realm! He actually sings me to sleep every night. We are so lucky to be alive to witness this as it happens!! 🇨🇦🦌💓🔥

Yes, Dimash takes your breath away. His voice comes from another galaxy.... it has the power to healing hearts and souls. Thank you for loving and appreciating his art and genius. If you wish to hearing him singing like an electric guitar, I suggest you to check his masterpiece Across Endless Dimensions. All the best.

I fell into the Dimash rabbit hole a couple of years ago. My favourite SOS version will always be his first performance on the Chinese singing competition, The Singer. It's raw and beautiful and he's younger and doesn't necessarily know just how epic it is. I urge you to check this version out, even if you don't react to it. That and Sinful Passion are my faves. Great reaction. 👍👍👍

Can you imagine how it is to see/hear him live? It's beyond words really! He's indeed an artist that changes lives deeply, not just because of his voice, but he lives according to high moral standards and values, is a charity worker, he's humble, respectful, loving, very thoughtful and attentive...a true role model, also for other artists. One cannot not love him ❤

I hadn't heard this version of the song. I've heard a number of different Dimash performances of this piece, but this is by far the most recent, and the thing that really stands out to me is his growth artistically in the lower register. He could always hit those low notes, but they didn't sound nearly so musical as they do here. The low range is starting to sound as good as his high range, which is truly remarkable.
