If you did have power in the trailer, couldn’t you buy a conveyor belt to the truck and use that to help push the trash back or will it not work? The belt would be fixed into the trailer so when dumping it won’t fall out?

You could up sale bulky items, 2-5 bucks an item and have the customer book the pickup so you're not overwhelmed each week. Yes. Waste management was getting the same deal, it's standard to have local trash weighted and dumped locally. Larger cities is where we'd use transfer stations. Logistics and record keeping is basically how I understand it

How DARE you decide to use garbage liners and try to simplify each stop to tossing a single bag instead of going through the struggle of grabbing 28 walmart shopping bags filled exclusively with wasp nests! People just don't want to see someone losing a bit of money for convenience, you should automatically be pinching every single penny you can for maximum profit! All sarcasm of course, love putting on one of your videos with my morning coffee :)

Believe I can build them for around $2500 in materials, including a gasoline engine powered pump with valve body and a hydraulic cooler. It could run all day. Wouldn't have to worry about duty cycles. Could mount right to the top rail of the trailer and roll down the entire side. Wouldn't take much of a fabricator to mount it. Let me know

I worked on the back of a garbage truck for 5 years. I can tell you that you can save a lot of time if you leave the garbage can at the curb after you dump it. Taking it back up the driveway or behind the fence takes up a lot of time over your 20+ stops trust me. Essentially the more houses you get, that will eat up a lot your time and add more time. Thats a quick was to gain time back.

I am amazed that tool cost 2k. It seems like it would cost around 750 based on construction. Maybe this can be looked at as a "one size doesnt fit all". Maybe having a tipper is still a good idea for 10-20% of the time. having both sides accessible seems like a great idea. How about several acccess points, front and rear so the trash piles you are dumping in are better spread out without needing spread out? Just thinking the lower the rail you have to clear to load the better.

@@CopperCreekCutsit depends, you need to research your equipment and also what options you selected when your built your truck on its alternator size and how many there is. It would at least solve the problem of moving the trash pile. I know it’s a pipe dream but if you love efficiency whatever trailer solution you end up with will be 100% purpose built anyway😂. Hello Brad, I will have to agree with everything you said. Perhaps you could beef up the frame of the tipper, and install a more powerful gas shock. But its also like you said, you'd still have the issue of the tipper, putting the bags in the exact same spot. Short of an official garbage truck, or more complex (which means more expensive) tipper, I'm really not sure where you would go from here. I appreciate your transparency. Sorry to hear the bin tipper you got didn't really work out for you as intended. I guess it will only get used when you have heavy and full bins, probably not much use to go to the effort to use it when there is not much waste in the bin. Even when used with full and heavy bins, it looks like it will take a lot of effort to maneuver and flip the bins. It is really cool watching these videos and you talking through the issues you have found and how you have learned from these issues to develop things further in the future, such as the net over the waste. I wonder if you could source a second hand electronic bin flipper of an old stationary compactor unit they use at businesses such as malls? Do all your customers need new bin liners on each pickup? Some of your customers look to be bagging their waste up very well and possibly would not need a new liner and maybe you could be tossing the customer's bags individually into your trailer which could help with not needing to use the tipper or lift one big heavy bag into the trailer? After unloading and you find the bin liner is beyond your standards of cleanliness, then the liner could be replaced? It may take some more time to toss smaller bags one after another into the trailer but would this be offset by the struggles of lifting one big bag or the time it is taking to use the bin lifter and rake to move the waste in the trailer? Tossing individual bags may allow you to load the trailer better too rather than loading from the same point on the trailer each time. Look forward to seeing how this project develops, keep up the great work and the top quality video production!

Good questions! I don't think a tipper of any sort will work because of the trash piling in one spot. I am reusing liners when the trash was bagged and clean. I don't want to risk not putting a liner in. If the person puts loose trash in the next week then I am stuck.

@@CopperCreekCuts Great to hear you are reusing some of the liners if the bag is clean. I totally understand that you would be in a difficult situation if someone put loose trash in with no liner. And I agree, I don't think a bin tipper will sadly work for your trailer unless it emptied the bin very high at the front and you were to use the trailer tipper and gravity to move the waste to the back which sounds just as slow and time consuming. I'm sure you will find a solution. Keep up the good work and thanks for replying 🙂

Don't give up on the lift yet. I saw someone recommend replacing the struts with stronger ones. Also, I was thinking maybe you could build a ramp on the inside of the trailer so the bags are forced to roll away from the "landing spot" where the lift deposits them. This could save you the trouble of pushing the bags away with a rake at each stop. Keep Up the Hussle!

Par-kan easy dump. Sell the dump trailer and put this on the back of your pickup you’ll probably come out with money in your pocket. Looks like a good solution if I were you. It has a compactor so even though it’s smaller than the trailer you probably will be able to fit close to the same amount.

No. I use a Decked drawer system for one, the par-kans don't have a compactor, only a sweeper, it is definitely smaller than the trailer and won't fit as much (I would have around half the storage which would mean I wouldn't have enough space even at this current stage), I run into duty cycle issues with any electric hydraulic system, and the small 6 yard version was a few grand more than my trailer (and doesn't come with 18 month no interest payments like the trailer does). I appreciate the tip, though!

Hi there! It's me again, the european guy from your last video. As I said earlier I am happy to see your thing going and thus anything I write here are ideas and not criticism. First of all, about the can lifting mechanism, I have two ideas for a DIY thing, one using a manual hydraulic pump to pump the thing up and then with a lever to get it back down, just like a car jack, a barber shop seat or a crane to lift a car engine, that would be more usefull than the thing you have or an other idea is to use a mechanism with gears and some kind of chain like the bike chain to rotate a wheel and the gearbox to transfer the movement to the chain on witch the can is put, taking the can up and then rolling over and into the trailer. The second thing is about the manualy spreading the garbage into the trailer, my idea is to put the mechanism as much as you can near the front of the trailer and when the grabage piles up you just tip the trailer a bit with the back doors closed making the pile to roll backwards to the doors. This video just provoked me to try and make a sketch for a DIY can lifting thingy and I might put my engineering skills until next week's episode to draw something. Best wishes and good luck!

I wanted to address your talking about lifting the trailer to move the garbage to the back. You mentioned it would take 2 min each time and doing that for each stop would be cumbersome. My thoughts though you wouldn't/shouldn't have to do it each stop. But maybe every 5 stops. And its not a perfect solution to end all but it is a solution for the interim to make it slightly easier. And if you plan it right the wifey can perform the tip while you're walking a can back up a 100yd driveway. :D

Well, you didn't consult me before you setup this trailer. I would have told you to put your loading area near the front of the trailer. Then you could have your welding buddy rig up a push plate on an electric winch and rollers to push the trash to the rear of the trailer. That way you're not having to figure out hydraulics. It won't compact the trash but will move the piles. Look at some of the youtube videos some of the rednecks have made to unload brush trailers with push plates and winches.

It seems the lift mechanism is way too narrow as it twists as you load. I wondered if an arm could be put on to give you a longer lever to lift with that could easily fold back or collapse between stops. It looks like if you weld a gusset onto the existing lift handle and put an arm extension ant a right angle to the ground, it will give you a little more reach and leverage to get the load moving. Also, is there a way to put the tipper on rollers and pin it in various places. Extend the upright hooks to reach full sideboard height. Fill the trailer front to back to keep safe tongue weight. Just possible solutions. It already doesn't work as you wanted. A few modifications and bracing and it may do the job better for you.

Bro I’ve got 2 ideas for the trash being in the same spot and having it full. Why not build a heavy duty plate weld on 2 or 4 or 5 pistols that has a metal plate on the other side as well for push the garbage to the gate. (So essentially 2 heavy duty metal plates with big powerful hydraulics on it and weld on side to the back of the trailer) Another idea is look into a piece of farm equipment for manure tossing, it’s essentially got a conveyor that pushes a wall. You could buy one of those and slightly customize it to have a dump gate and a lift piston

@@CopperCreekCuts fair enough, I’d say at the least maybe look through a farm equipment sale site, find a half decently priced manure spreader and ask a fab shop near by how much it would cost to make the idea become reality? I mean it’ll definitely be a couple bucks for sure so maybe it’s something to look at when you’ve got a few more customers but I think that would be your best configuration because 75% of the jobs done (at least the trickiest part) you just have to get the idea across the finish line. Ntm if it’s an idea that isn’t on the market for smaller garbage collectors then you could patent it or partner with a well established company and take a royalty. A buddy of mine did something like that, cost him a few grand up front but now he brings in a good chunk of change from it.

I get your issues with the arm. I was one who kept thinking he's got to get some kind of tipper while watching previous videos. That arm looks pretty flimsy, I can't believe they charge 2k for that thing. You could probably rig up something to deal with the fact that stuff piles up in the same spot with a winch a metal plate and some tracks for it to ride in. That plus a better arm design I would still think beats manually throwing bags at each stop, but I get why you might not want to spend any more time or money trying to fabricate something like that on your current scale. People saying you should make another channel for ASMR videos are not wrong from a youtube add sense perspective in the long term. Having 2 very different types of videos on a single channel can help grow subscriber numbers in the short term. However catering to two very different audiences on the same channel will hurt you in the long term as it will result in your videos being recommended less often. I've seen this occur on other channels before most often in gaming channels. They build an audience in one game and eventually the channel growth slows so they start to cover a second game in an attempt to continue the growth. Their existing viewers aren't interested in the new game so don't watch the videos when they are recommended resulting in a lower click threw rate. In this example say 50% as they only watch the videos of the old game, and lower click threw rate for the channel leads to it being recommended less often. There are channels that I am subscribed to that literally don't even show up on my main page when they post anymore because of this.
