So impressed you guys taking on this repair! It’s not easy but it’s going to be so worth it!

Thanks David, we completed the repair in March 2021, we've done approximately 7000nm since the repair, at times in some pretty 'bulkhead challenging' seas. Our rig tension has remained consistent and we get a small amount of flexing on our leeward stays which has remained consistent. Very happy with the end result

Hi David, thanks for the comment, the boat was checked out by a Naval Architect before the repair work was carried out. The boat was in very good condition and now that the work has been completed its stronger than it was when it left the factory. At least you know what to look for if your buying one.

That was the easiest Lagoon bulkhead repair on KZbin!

Plastering over a design fault that hasn’t gone away.
@bravesailing5547 Жыл бұрын
I would agree that it was an original design fault. The repair has been successful and the fact that we have now sailed from New Zealand to Indonesia with no problems is testament to that. The repair and strengthening process was carried out by very professional boat builders with input from a Naval Architect, I am very happy with the result.

Make sure you use a surveyor who has multihull experience. Look for crazy cracking in the corners of the gel coat, that should indicate movement. Also double check inside the cupboards for movement between the furniture and the hull. Good luck!! Mechanical issues are easier to fix than structural ones

Sorry, but that won’t fix the issue. Lagoon needs to do proper repairs, not cosmetic carpentry. Have you seen problems closing main deck doors? I would never buy a Lagoon Cat. The problem is poor design, and poor construction. I hope you don’t become victims of this Lagoon fraud when out in Blue Water.

I’m sorry you feel this way. The repair was far from cosmetic carpentry, no problems with closing any of the doors. We’ve done well over 3500nm since the repair and I’m some sporty conditions, it’s stronger now than when it left the factory.

never leave the dock again the boat is so poorly designed it needs to be floating condo sell the mast and sails and recover some of the money

Thanks for the comment, since this repair work has been carried out we've sailed over 3000 nautical miles, and i'm really not concerned about the integrity of the boat.

@@bravesailing5547 yup it’s so much stronger than from the factory. They basically fixed and eliminated the one thing wrong with this boat!
