Salam... I read from wikipedia - Ayesha was 10 years younger than Asma bint Abubakar, Asma died 100 years old in the year 73AH "Al_Qari, Ali. Merghah Almafatih : Sharh Meshkat Almasabih. p. 331". So if Asma was around 27 during Hijra. Therefore Ayesha should be around 17 during hijra. Just saying..

Thahts more realistic But note that info to media is given or taken from Sunni sources. The Shia denies it, denies that minor age, denies to accept narration from Sunni books of Hadith, because we have logical arguments that these books cannot be authentic If you wish, i can share my views with you

Aisha herself said she was 6 when the prophet married her and nine when he raped her. it is Sahih perv Iddah is the wating period after divorce in case the "woman or child" is pregnant (3 month) all Tafseer make it very clear it is wating period after consummation. Why would it talk about girls too young for menstruation if it was not related to dingy dingy Check any Tafseer *Tafseer Quran Al-Tabari 65:4 And those of your women as have passed the age of monthly courses, for them the 'Iddah (prescribed period), if you have doubt (about their periods), is three months; and for those who have no courses [(i.e. they are still immature) their 'Iddah (prescribed period) is three months likewise". He said: The same applies to the 'idaah for girls who do not menstruate because they are too young, if their husbands divorce them after consummating the marriage with them.)

Yes, people married younger in the past and I pointed this out before too. It was due to a combination of factors, including shorter lifespans. Most people were considered elderly by the time they were in their 40's.

Saint Augustine, a major Christian theologian, writes in his book “The Confessions of Saint Augustine,” that he was in love and engaged to a girl. When I calculated her age, she was about 12; he was about 32. It is in his book.

My version is that Madame Aisha led guides to Gare Sor (where prophet remained hidden) which was way far from Mecca perhaps at that time it was a Jungle. (Basing from the fact people hunted at that time) And if so (she led perhaps pagan) guides where Prophet was what could then be her age?. Surely she was perhaps more than nine or so. If this is my collection then the marriage took place some ten years later.

As far as the late 19th century, girls in Europe were also married by the age of 12It was the law in Elizabethan society that girls as young as seven could be married. So really people should study history! And parents could give their daughters into marriage.

Marriage and consummations are not the same. Surah 4 indicates that preadolescents are not allowed the financial decision that is standard with all Islamic marriage.

Shaikh, the argument here is not why Ayesha got married at 6 or 9, as per the tradition, customs and culture may be it was ok. Because his own daughter Fatema got married to Ali when she was very young. The argument is the age difference between Ayesha and Prophet. Was it fair? Especially for the prophet? #2. Say it was common then for others like the Kings to marry young girls, so be it The prophet came to bring about a change, change in culture, change of mindset, cutoms etc hence, it wasn't appropriate for prophet in his 50's to marry a girl young to be a grand daughter. Thats the baseline of argument. As for me, i m personality not inclined to believe that bibi Ayesha was indeed that young but the common matter going around is arguing on this. So there's no point to justify that girls in those times were getting married at young age and men too were marrying young girls. Nor does it make any sense to say that life span then was short so marrieages were conducted. Was that the reason the prophet married a young girl? No. So why bring it into this equation? The point is, did the prophet. In his 50's marry a girl at 9 or not. ? If yes, then was it appropriate? If no, then what is the correct answer ?

Stay tuned. Insha'Allah some of these concerns will be answered in the next few episodes. And Insha'Allah we will also be having a dedicated Chapter which examines the reason behind each of the marriage of the Prophet.

No, our beloved prophet pbuh did not marry bibi Aisha at 6 or 9. It's been dissected by Ahlul Bayt school of thought that she was 19 if not 17.

There is other sources where they claim Aeysha was married to another man at the age of 9. She was then divorced and married the prophet( peace and blessings be upon him and his progeny)in her 20s. What is your opinion?
