I love all your projects, I’m so glad hubby is doing well. I got my knees done in 2020, as soon as the hospitals opened up during the pandemic here in the US. I had mine done 2 1/2 months apart and that worked well. Great podcast, as usual.

It is so good to hear your husband’s recovery is going well. So glad his dad is there to help too. I can’t wait to see your Peacock sweater in progress. I just finished the Poppy Tee using the Cashmere Premium by Lang. I am so pleased with the finished product. It will be so nice for you to be on holiday and be able to get lots done at home. Looking forward to all you have going on. ❤

Thank you so much. I’m not far off finishing mine. A little quicker seeing I made it a top. I think it will be lovely with nice work pants in the fall. :)

Good to hear that your husband’s surgery went well, and rehab is underway. A lovely lineup of knitting in this week’s episode! The Peacock Tee is in my queue, so I’m looking forward to your take on it, and the use of cotton. I did have a chuckle about your 35C temperature, as we are quickly heading that way- except there is a minus in front of that number 🥶.

Love your vlog Tash and look forward to watching every week. It is always lovely to see what other people are working on and the yarns they are using. As a retired teacher I remember how quickly those holidays go but it is lovely to have a break and get some making done as well.

Thank you once again for a lovely podcast. I do feel as well that I am knitting among friends when I watch your podcast (and a few others). I had to laugh as, again, my eye has been caught by three of the same patterns as yours, the Isabell Kraemer one (don't dare to try and spell it), the Andrea Mowry cowl, and the Jennifer Steingass sweater. I love Hand Make Create - what a gorgeous store. And I am so tempted by the Flor Di Lino yarn. But I finally am doing a yarn inventory and OMG, I have SO much yarn. Even if I never make another yarn purchase, I will need to live to 100 to get through all of it. And so glad that your husband is on the mend. I've heard the pain can be pretty intense right after the surgery. How good of him to power through the physio, despite that. And how lucky you both are to have his dad here to help. Again, thank you! Have a lovely week.

Ive started making A twisted affair for a Christmas present in a royal blue and it’ll have a black Pom Pom. I made the brim rib longer so it can fold over without hiding any of the cable feature I’m past the 2nd cable and I’d agree that the next one I make (!!) will have fewer rows in the cable repeat - probably 8 I’ve been watching along and playing yarn chicken doing my first ever Ranunculus and have just cast off with about a meter of yarn left 🤣🤣 Loving all of your makes and grateful that you share your talents and experience with us Thank you 🙋🏼🏴

Pure Joy is finally finished and looks great on you. The pinkish hat looks lovely but you could have done rib longer. I have made that mistake a few times. The test knit looks good on you and you will soon be finished. The rest of my message disappeared oh dear. I am pleased to hear that your husband is progressing after the doubke knee op. I hear the pain is tough. We are still busy going out but it will soon quiten down. Take care Tash

I can't believe your husband got both knees done at the same time. My husband had one done and was supposed to have the next one done a year later, but covid hit, so that put a stop to it. Then we changed our diet, dropped sugar and carbs, and lost weight as a result, and he hasn't needed it done since the inflammation is pretty much gone. Mine are bone on bone too, but I don't think I need to get it done either, because it just isn't that painful. I'm nattering on though. What I was just going to say was that it seems really traumatic to do both knees at once. My husband was pretty good with getting only one knee done, but I think 2 would have been really difficult. It's pretty rare in Canada to have them done at the same time.
@mostlyknitting2 ай бұрын
It is reasonably common here in Australia. He is reasonably young and fit but has been bone-on-bone for over 2 decades and even walking is really painful so it was time. I'm glad he only has to go through it the once. :)

If I could shout from the rooftops about one topic, it would be about going low carb in your diet. So many benefits. Please research if you have time ❤

Thank you for another lovely podcast, I always get really good ideas for patterns and yarns to knit. I have a question that no one seems to talk about, how do you swatch with mohair and another yarn and then take them apart later if you need that yarn later for your project. I have only knit with mohair and wool once and was to make a hat so I didn't need to swatch. Would love to know your thoughts. I am assuming most people just buy extra yarn because it's too difficult to unravel the swatch?
@mostlyknitting2 ай бұрын
Thanks so much Fran. Usually a swatch doesn’t have so much yarn that you need to unravel it to finish a project. I often see it as my emergency extra yarn - it is there to unravel if I just need a couple more rows to finish something. It is possible to unwind a swatch knit with mohair and another yarn but it is a bit of a slow process and often easier if you have another person helping - two people winding at the same time. Thanks for your lovely comments and glad to know you are enjoying the podcast. :)

Re the Moby Sweater. A couple of experienced podcasters (I think it was The Norwegian Knitter and Handmade by Florence) both knitted the Moby and it came up smaller than they thought. They wished they had knitted the next size up - just thought I'd mention it. Another great podcast by the way and I'm glad your husband is doing well
@mostlyknitting2 ай бұрын
Thank you so much for sharing that about the Moby sweater. That is really helpful to know. I will do a bit more research and swatching and make sure i am paying attention. :)

Just a thought regarding the bag making and struggling with the needle: could you use a thimble? I am now a thimble convert after watching a video on how to use one correctly. Yep, my husband really suffered with pain post knee surgery too. Tell him it will get better!
@mostlyknitting2 ай бұрын
Thanks so much for the suggestion of the thimble. I have one. I will give that a go. Thank you also for the well wishes for my husband. I am glad to hear it gets better. He is doing much better two weeks on which is great and a relief. :)

FYI, purl soho’s tussock silk is the same base as the Shibui. Also, I’m wondering if you could video yourself when you weave in the yarn after you knit a flat row & then join in the round? My finished projects are hit & miss Also I have to tell you that you make me giggle when you show all the hats you knit for someone who lives in such a warm place, I live in northern Canada and with our average morning temperatures of -30:-35°c , I still don’t wear a hat. Love the podcast
@mostlyknitting2 ай бұрын
Thank you so much Louise. That is great to know about Purl Soho using the same base for the silk mohair. I can definitely do a video of what i do when joining after knitting a row flat. I am not sure that my results are that much better than what you have experienced but sometimes it is just nice to be able to compare with what another person is doing. It's funny about the hats - because it doesnt often get cold here, we arent really geared up for cold weather. If i am doing playground duty outside during the winter, i love having a beanie on as I get a headache if my ears get cold.
