I appreciate that for reference, this is a 2016. I bought it in 2019 being 3 years old when I bought it and she had 544,000 miles. I paid $60,000. The price of a 3 year old Volvo with 550,000 +/- miles right now 3/10/2022 is running $155,000-$170,000 depending on trim and condition. I’ve seen 2019/20 860 Globetrotters with 500,000 miles posted for $200,000+. The market is extremely outrageous right now. I will add this bit tho, I have owned my truck for 2.5 years and just ended my day today with 887,051 miles on my truck. I currently owe just over $15,000 on it. The biggest repairs I’ve had to do up until this point was the thermostat and water pump around 840,000 miles and I just replaced the automatic clutch. From what Volvo techs have told me, my truck is in amazing condition and should last another 300,000+ hopefully before needing anything major. So, I look forward to seeing you on the road sometime!

@@DreamInspired I hear you about the prices in current market and appreciate you sharing the details about your truck. @@malikawan458 from my experience, I’ve driven my Volvo the most but I’ve always driven Freightliners, Mack’s, Kenworth. Not criticizing but telling you just to help you out in some more active truck stops where parking is limited. If you are bobtail, park up front save full size spots for drivers with trailers. You will one night pull in to a lot looking for a space and see half the lot taken up by bobtails when there is plenty of space up front to park. There are some dirty drivers out there that will get pissed of and do stuff to your truck like cut an airline , add crap to your fuel or DEF tanks, etc......it is not as big of a problem these days with all dash cams watching but still a bunch of drivers that don't care and know they will be out of state in a few hours or so.

@@DreamInspired I thought Cummins was the best? Maybe in the pickup class, but not Semi, l love your Semi Jason, lm thinking thing of buying a Frightliner m2, too do hot shotting used
@DreamInspired3 жыл бұрын
M2 or FL70 is a must for hotshot. Buying a Ram or Ford is pointless in my opinion. I’ve put 280k miles on my semi in less than 2 years and I’ve taken off over 4 months in that time. Put 280k miles on a pick up in 2 years and you’re pretty much done with that truck BUT, have paid off barely 1/5 of the loan and have 4 years left on the contract. If pick up is what someone wants to do, Enterprise is the best option in my opinion. Otherwise, FL70 and M2 are what’s going to last in the business. Cummins wise, yeah they are still 1 of the top dawgs even in the semi game. Volvo has a few models that come with the Cummins but those are for the heavy heavy haul types. For your daily driver that’s going to go the long distance less than 80k lbs and give you 8+ mpg, the D13 is where to go. Don’t get me wrong, freightliners and other have great mileage as well, but long lasting… Nah, Volvo is best in my opinion
@jamessoho61243 жыл бұрын

@DreamInspired3 жыл бұрын
I’ve got a 2016, bought in July 2019, got it with 544k and I’m about to roll 800k this week. I’d say they are reliable but when asked, I always say the same thing... Start with the outside. Scratch’s? Dents? Things broken? New or used tires? Mudflaps good? Headlight clean and clear? If the outside is good, move to the inside. Does it smell? Last owner a smoker? Dog hair? Carpet dirty? Fridge dirty? Anything broken? If those 2 pass, odds are the engine is in good condition as well. If either of those fail, do a full inspection before buying. If the last owner took good care of the body and interior, odds are he took care of the engine as well. If he couldn’t take care of the body or interior tho, man I don’t even bother trying to figure out what’s up with engine. I walk right away!

Dream Inspired What stopped me from doing Semi full time after I got my Class A with all endorsements in my opinion was they're too time consuming along with a few other things. Here's some of the reasons: You have to find a place to park the truck and trailer when your home or buy a big enough piece of land and maintain it. More expensive maintenance & time consuming maintenance Extremely expensive to repair If you get a flat it costs more and more time consuming than a hotshot SRW Truck & Triple axle SRW trailer. Tolls cost more than a hotshot There's more height, weight and maneuverability limitations for backroads, detours, shortcuts and turn arounds A hotshot truck cost less, takes less room to park, you can disconnect the trailer and the truck can go anywhere unlike the bobtail semi. The hotshot truck is easier & faster to resale.
