Hey everyone, I know I left you on a cliff hanger last week by not finishing the fuel tank compartment, but the videos are so long as they are , I feel I need to add the important elements in detail and thus more episodes. As I time lapse a lot of my videos to speed up the process please, watch the entire video as fast forwarding the content is not looked on favorably by KZbin and seems to reduce our recommendation to other interested viewers. If you need to skip a bit , go and have a cup of tea or take a pee break to help me get the viewing percentage up if you can. Ad breaks are also important to watch as much as possible , after all, KZbin allows me to put content up for nothing so I appreciate any help sharing the channels content. Thanks and enjoy the vid,Cheers Rossco

Ross I’m a painter, there’s a little paint holder I use called a pelican that lets you use a brush and a wiz roller at the same time. There’s even a built in magnet so your brush sticks to the side while your using the roller. and the handle of the pelican wraps around over the back of your hand so your not gripping tight with your fingers all the time. It’s a very very handy thing to use for these sort of jobs where you’d like to keep switching back and forth from brush to roller and they’re only about $20. I hope this tip helps, cheers mate.

When I gel coat as a top coat, by brush, roller, or spray, the last thing I do is put sheet of plastic wrap on top of the wet gel coat. Give it a try on your next experimental piece. Depending on your wax content you may have to spray a thin coat of PVA on the plastic wrap and let it dry before applying to the gel but it makes a nice finish.
@LifeOnTheHulls5 жыл бұрын
On smaller jobs I would certainly use some wrap but in the case of this sized job the waxed resin is absolutely fine and working time would be too limited. As it provides a slightly textured result it hides the margins between cloth and tabbing a bit as well, with hard wearing properties that will not see foot traffic in the end.Thanks for the comment Stacey, great to hear everyone's techniques,I love this part of this channel ,it makes it so worth while.Ross

Have you used Nuplex's "industrial grey flow coat"? I buy it from their factory outlet down here in Melbourne. It's only about $80 for 20 litres. They tell me it's the remnants of various black, grey and white gel coats when they clean out the mixing machinery. Better to sell than pay to dispose of! It's a bit runnier than normal flow or gel but the price is great. It can be slightly different shades bucket to bucket but it's always light grey.

I'd prefer to see you using a forced air breathing system with a full hood and remote air inlet that's far away from your work area. Remember that the chemicals are vasoconstrictors that hyper constrict your blood vessels. Any hidden partial blockages in your blood vessels will become full blockages.

looks great, you might want to keep an eye on the masking tape, if its there too long the adhesive will harden and be a real bugger to remove. I've used this www.bunnings.com.au/bear-48mm-x-25m-clear-all-weather-tape_p1661582 on Fibre glassed items exposed outside and been able to remove it after more than 12 months without the adhesive being left behind.

Overspray of a waxed resin could possible create more problems for me than it is worth,also I avoid contaminating the lines of my machine with wax as it could lead to delamination on the next job I use it on,no matter how well I clean the apparatus. I have a hvlp gun for flow coat but decided I could guarantee a slightly thicker one step process and finish not as critical in the bilges.All the best Rossco

Life On The Hulls - Building a Cruising Catamaran No not that type of gun A small hand held gun that uses a paper popcorn cup 1 quart size You can use low pressure and Quickly roll it out I don’t think it would overspray Just a idea for the future This gun is so simple 150.00 You use your finger to stop gel from coming out The only moving part is the air trigger the aluminum lid comes off for easy cleanup you just dunk the whole thing is acetone I have two of them You could just drape some plastic over that area for quick tent I don’t think you’d need it It’s great for small molds spraying outside as well It’s a g100-6 gelcoat gun

If you want to keep the effects of your treatment to yourself & close ones I totally respect that. But if you're not gonna show yourself explaining what your doing or having a laugh with someone as you think we don't want to see it, well me and others who have commented disagree. If you're totally ok with it then put it out there, there are lots of people who have no experience of cancer or anything until it strikes them or someone close, and it's because everyone all auto assumes to hide it-almost like it's not there.
