I think it's worth noting on the Deathsworn that while they are ignoring their own armor on the gets hot, they're 2 wound models, so they are not necessarily killing themselves on a gets hot. And with the Speaker of the Dead to give them rerolls (and a 5+ FnP against the gets hot wound) it's not nearly as bad as it seems at first.

I agree with what you're saying, but I think the problem is each Deathsworn is making 4 attacks so there are 4 chances per model to roll a gets hot. I think Ymira bombs are worth it just for making units that charge you disordered, but if you want to use them to attack you definitely want to be running them with a Speaker of the Dead. The main thing about Deathsworn though is that they're so fucking cool and stasis bombs or not I'd be running them if I was a SW player!!!

Excellent episode. I think you were too harsh on the Stalkers. My quick thoughts: Stalkers/Slayers start off largely the same, but Stalkers have WAY more options. The big difference is they come with chainswords which Slayers *do not* have access to. I think the consensus is that chainsword>Fenrisian axe. I think a large unit or two of Grey Slayers with shields, axes, 5ish power weapons, and an apothecary are a great base to move up the table, but then it’s good to add 2+ Stalker units for specific roles. At least that’s my plan.

I think it worth thinking about only taking as many fenrisian axes as needed to get front line to score reaping blow bonus, while the rest of the attacking models would benefit more from shred vs +1s unless going for strength stacking

Don't forget that adding 4 regular wolves to your Jarl makes the unit majority T3, so he gets 4 models to slough wounds off onto, but the unit is less durable than he would be on his own, and 2 dead wolves forces him to take a break check and potentially run off the board.

Grey Stalkers are just 40k Grey Hunters, take 2 squads of ten, give them bolters and (for shits and giggles) two calivers, sit on midfield objectives and shoot anyone that gets past the slayers.

Makes me a little sad when I see their rules compared to my word bearers lol 😂. I do feel like we’re only half a book though till the ruinstorm & traitor guard rules have dropped. My legions different though argel tal, vorbak & jet packs everywhere not optimal but fun hobby & tabletop wise 🙂. Great show as ever guys keep up the awesome work. I run my Grey Slayers in blocks of 14 plus the Sargent. 9 power axes, 3 swords, a combat fist and the Sargent with fist and plasma pistol. All have combat shields and bolt pistol. Those fuckers hit like a train when they charge.

Fenrisian axe is worse than a chainsword 90% of the time (shred>+1S, sweeping will net you ~4 attacks for a whole unit). All the 1handed frost weapons are worse than normal power weapons (lack of rending/shred, special weapon). Adamantium will does nothing against the one librarian that matters (telepathy).

Yeah this one is up for discussion and needs a FAQ really. The 'Assault Vehicle' rule states you can't assault the turn you arrive from reserves, but the 'Outflanking' rule states you can assault as normal. Also, you could argue that it's not 'Reserves', but 'Reserves: Flanking Assault' so who knows to be honest!!! Probably something you need to discuss with your opponent before the game begins 🤷‍♀️

You are way off on the troop choices.. Stalkers are better in CC, bc chainsword>axe, you have all the same options+more. You can even take the shield if you want the 6++. A couple of meltaguns or rotors are pretty great for a melee unit too.

I tried to keep my Fists as "official GW/FW" as possible, and then I got the IF Tartaros Praetor (they say cataphractii on the store, but it's obviously not). The IF termie praetor is a GIANT literally almost twice the size of normal termies which is when I said fuckit and all my termies are now either Tortuga or 3d printed. Thankfully I'm American, and we don't care about official GW events. This is by far my favorite long-form Heresy show btw. Y'all killin it.
