Ep2 Takla Seatcovers & Garmin Overlander Installation On My Hilux

So our build begins with our very first upgrade! I very excited head over to Takla Products, to do what I think is the most important first upgrade to potentially any vehicle, and that's Seat Covers and Takmats. As always I think every time you upgrade you need something both functional and aesthetically pleasing and these Takla's really transformed the Hilux's interior! Next up we continue our mission of pimping out the Toyota's interior with some awesome gadgets from Garmin South Africa, namely the Overlander GPS and the InReach Mini Satellite communicator. Now It is finally starting to feel as familiar as the Jimny felt. Slowly this vehicle will earn it's place as a ROAM Vehicle!

Yep, seat covers are probably the most cost effective upgrade to a car. My dad covered both his cars’ seats the moment he got them and they are in absolute pristine condition, even with 4 kids!

Looking forward to you getting the Hilux dialed in! I would recommend you looking into getting some clear ceramic tint on your front windshield to help keep the cabin cool whilst in the heat, plus will keep your interior protected from UV rays

I’m pretty sure that the Toyota original glass has UV protection.

@@jcv551 Yes it does, but not to the extent of which I am talking about. All windows have SOME uv tint. There is an aftermarket tint called air80 which GREATLY reduces the amount of UV light entering and is clear...

A DIY project integrating the Garmin Overlander into the space of the OEM head unit would give you plenty of extra vision. Proving its not too low down too look at.

If you're putting a solid canopy on the rear view mirror will be useless. You could remove it and mount the Garmin in its place, that's what alot of the van drivers here in Ireland do. Really enjoying the content, happened upon your channel by chance. I was contemplating getting a jimny for the farm roads so I went to KZbin and as a south African expat I noticed the GP plates and had to click on your video

Hey Dizzyish! Thanks for the feedback. One of the biggest problems with prices is that I have an international audience; and something that is sold here is much more expensive when bought overseas. Good choice with Takla. The seatmats are by far the best around. U an gain som visibilaty forward by loosing the reversing mirror once the canopy & revese amera are installed. As for power, thats always an issue...I`d (consider) have(ing) overhead power outlets. Too much cables around the lower dash reminds me of a cluster fuc**p. All the best

Yeah sure! They were still going strong, got a good clean and have gone into another truck, I got a new set recently for my new logo, and loving them still! I’m a big fan of the beige, even though it tends to get dirty after a month or more in the bush 🤣 but then come home and give them a wash and good as new 👌🏻
