Back in 1986, when I was living in the USA, my first 4 wheel vehicle was a Suzuki Samurai. I love the way it evolved into the current Jimny. I'm now living in Malaysia, where the top selling pick-up is the Hilux. Looking forward to seeing if the Hilux will be a good choice to buy now that I am on the verge of retiring. I admit, all of the previous episodes have got me thinking about off-roading and cross country travelling. Looking forward to the new episodes.

Great to get hold of a Bushlore vehicle. We rented a Land Cruiser from them in Windhoek and the guys there couldn’t have been better at introducing the vehicle and explaining everything. If it’s a Namibian car it will have been well looked after.

I own a toyota corolla for 11 years and never ever had any issues with it, planning on getting a toyota prius plus and I am sure it will last forever without any hickups. Love the Cooper S/T Maxx tires -- I have them on my 94 V6 petrol Toyota Pickup (aka Hilux in the cool countries), and they are a nice blend of all-terrain and mud terrain -- good on the highway

@@RoamOverlanding Yeah they are great, and the fuel consumption is pretty decent if you drive well. I am at 9.4 at the moment I think. I had Mikem put in new suspension and a 50mm lift, I highly recommend this. The hilux on gravel in 4x2 is not a great drive, always use 4x4 and change the suspension. Many happy miles!

To honestly tell the truth, I loved the jimny. It really took care of us all. As for the Hilux, make sure yo don't go too fast in it. I still don't trust the rear suspension. Fingers crossed

Lucky bugger. Can't go wrong with a Toyota. I recently got myself a SWB Pajero '98. Old but bullet proof. She already has a 2" lift and ARB front bumper along with a dual battery system in it. Looking forward to kitting her out and watching your build as you continue with ROAM 2.0.

I rented the same bushlore hilux (had a different licence plate, so it wasn't yours 😉) in January and drove through Mabuasehube and the KTP, it was a really sturdy and comfy vehicle in my mind! Big plus was also the fuel consumption, it's quite economical. Even my friend who is a land cruiser die-hard was rather impressed with it's capabilities. I am sure yours will be amazing, love your videos! Cheers from Germany

I think I read somewhere that these Hilux's have a problem with dust getting past the air filter element which apparently can cause the engine to go into limp mode. Good luck with your build

The Jimny was great for sure. But I actually havent seen any videos of Hilux's being done up on youtube, normally its just Landcruisers, considering the Hilux viewership over 100x that of the Jimny, it surprised me that there was hardly any content around the Hilux online.

Delo mgx 400 for your next oil service. Oil that a lot of use in our bakkies and cars. If you have any vibration when braking,your front rotors are warped,there has been issues with hilux/fortuners that toyota repaired under warranty when they got the issues.

does your bakkie have a secondary fuel filter? Check out turboformonce,they supply the Racor filter with kit for tge hilux bakkies ,get the 1 micron and install after the oem filter. Oem filters first then racor filters.You also get a UDF filter from voetspore that is 0.5micron but more expensive. The racor is 100% and costs about r3000 a year ago. Helps against the dirty diesel/water.

@@RoamOverlanding cool man. A injector spraying is 1 or 2 micron. And a oem filter is 10micron usually so you can see how dirty fuel passes through the injector with just the oem filter. Hence why a 2nd filter is a good idea especially when overlanding. Thats why you first filter with the 10micron oem filter then it goes to the racor 1micron then it goes to the injector. Keeps those injectors safe.
