Over the past 50 years there seems to of been a big turn-around in aquarium keeping - from focus on fish to the aquascape and the totality of the tank; reminding me of zoo-keeping holistic approach from 'animal in cage' to 'animal in environment.'

Agree mate, aquarium hobby has evolved a lot. From barebottom tanks we see all the hardscape and aquascape which all help towards establishing some sort of ecosystem in the tank if done the right way.

Hi Akali, I sometimes usual gravel cleaner but majority of the time water changes using a small hose does the job

I'm looking to setup my second basics tank in a bowl this time like you've done. My last beginners tank was 15L with 2 platies. But this time I'm thinking neon tettras like you did.

That will be a cool project, leave enough space for the tetra to swim. My other bowl with white clouds is heavily planted.

These ones didn't. I do have tanks with snails came with aquatic plants. They do breed extremely fast

Dear Fishaholic: What is the temperature of the water? I wouldn’t expect neon tetra to do well without a heater. Did the Kuhli loach devour the live blackworms? I doubt the neons could manage any. I haven't added a heater in the bowl, its at the room temperature and they have all grown big now. Kuhli loaches are doing well too and mostly eats all the left over food from the tetra. Didn't feed any live food after the 1st attempt. Thank you for watching the video

Hi mate, it must be the fish you bought as I have had great success with the neons. I have them with my red cherry shrimps, a bunch in my community tank and few in this bowl. No issue with their health as they have all grown big. Thank you
