This mod seems super interesting. I would like to see something native to the game like this. It would be awesome to make it a trait or civic or custom origin that makes it so your people were a part of an post apocalyptic escape plan and you built a giant ship to escape to the stars to avoid the requirement of the terra. Your species chooses not to rely on measly planets that just can't sustain your life choices so you have built a self sustaining government and starship. Even seeing something like a lost colony like origin your species was lost during battle and crash landed but have to build their self sustaining ship to search for their people to become one again.

KZbin recommendations hitting me with something that is actually exciting. I used to play a nomad mod ages ago but it stopped updating back in 2018 with the overhaul to planets/economy and I could never find a good replacement. So finding out about this mod makes me super happy. 6:31 Considering you don't have any planets and only your home system, you have an empire size of 1. So with just the 3 starter corvettes your naval coverage is several times larger than your empire size.

This is a sci-fi trope I'm surprised Stellaris hasn't done yet. If they could ever make that an expansion that would be so awesome. You could get really powerful fleet but if you loose them you lose population and economy.

@@Exakan I read your comment and decided to install the mod myself to check the current balance of not just the nomads but also the other civics/origins. Nothing in the mod is in any way balanced. For example, as nomads, are able to instantly summon extremely strong armies and use them to invade planets. Then you are able to “recruit” the pops from said planet; depopulating it while simultaneously removing all unrest from those pops abducted. Not to mention the fact that you can instantly swap production to and from any resource at any time with full efficiency and no investment (outside of increasing specialist slots, which are very cheap). This combined with an instant total war CB and very powerful early ships makes it laughable to call this mod anywhere near balanced. (And that’s only an account of the nomads, near about the entire rest of the mod is like this)

@@zedtheexplorer5206 It is okay, just play versus harder AI and not on Ensign. Machine intelligence can shift jobs how they want too, or Gestalts in general. Conquering as normal empire is also not harder or more expensive when abducting pops. The decision is actually more expensive and Nomad jobs do NOT benefit from any modifiers or buildings. My Nomad system is pretty complex and based on scripts with a lot of numbers, its not as easy as you might think it is. Total war CB isnt anything special, and if the ships die = RIP your economy. Any serious enemy would focus them to ruin your game. DS is pretty balanced for its complex features, stop hating and thinking that Stellaris is a competitive game. There are so many ways in Vanilla to become overpowered as hell. There are even more balance changes coming this week to Nomads and all origins/civics thanks to player feedback.

You should do Diplomat Path! I've done it and let me tell you, you will become really strong as long as you focus fully on your Ark. Also try to get into a few wars to get workforce from pops!

It would be cool if the mod creator will add a nomadic sub light speed civilization where they go from system to system and make colonies. Then when the ship needs help they can go to the colonies which will decide if they want to help the ship.

When I did a test run of the Nomads, I got screwed in the Galaxy gen. For the first time ever, I got FIVE hiveminds/Machine Conciousness empires, when previously I'd only seen two at most when I myself was playing one. And those pops don't count for the Convert to Manpower decision, as those pops are Undesirables. Fun fact though, Genetic Ascension's cloning vats are buildings, so their organic pop assembly isn't nerfed by the -99% output debuff. So if you have some planets, put down cloning vats for more pops to convert to manpower. Robots on the other hand are mostly created by jobs, and thus debuffed.

Such deficits add a negative modifier to your empire (government window). It also stops the growth of Manpower.

They're bad because AI alpha strike ships and place carriers in direct combat. I don't see why you wait for updates, it's in txt file and you can increase the damage. When strike craft is destroyed they are gone, their damage is gone. All battles is alpha strike vs alpha strike since there's no battle attrition.
