This amazing arrangement shows you that excellent music is timeless. A funky synth pop song gets a rework with incredible horn work that almost becomes salsa at the end. Wow, that was just incredible.

I love it when they break into the Cuban style piano and sax solos toward the end. Big surprise! It's like the Miami Sound Machine joined in. Howard Jones excels at pulling something new out of his bag of tricks.

The final swing into cancion Cubana, being from Miami, was beautifully done and completely unexpected. So cool to see Mr. Jones. Having grown up in their era when all you got of your musical stars was a music video, it is wonderful to be in the new era where we get to see them as "humans" and, in this case, to confirm their incredible talent. The band is exceptional. as a drummer I can only dream of sitting in on a session like this. Hats off to you, Mr. Hall, for "Darryl's House" and for making it available for us all to enjoy, gratis. =)
@andreverwoerd1378 Жыл бұрын
Yes, you could see them adjusting to the change in rhythm with a big smile on their faces, because they were not expecting THAT! Great live version of an originally completely synthesizer made song. Probably the most unexpected ending ever for the band. But they rose to the occasion.

Don’t remember the original being this funky. Band is sick! And Jones is way cooler than I remember, too!

This was so good. They both still got it. The eighties was a great era for blue eye soul. The artists from England during that time were so SOULFUL and on point. I would have to say even more so then the acts in the United States. This show was so missed and so glad it is back on. A lifelong fan. L.

You must be my musical twin - exactly what i wanted to say. Much of what I loved in the 80s was DH and JO plus a whole bunch of UK performers. Having HoJo with Daryl is like seeing two of my teenage crushes in the same room - I'm all giddy!

Fun fact, first single and albums I bought were Howard’s when I was about 10. Always struck me how funky he was within the Brit synth pop scene, but hearing that fully realised with Daryl’s incredible band is mind blowing. He was a funk artist!

HoJo holds such a special place in my heart. I just love him so much. His music (along with many other artists) have really helped me get thru the last 3 years. I will forever be grateful. This is a beautiful version. Such a masterpiece of a song. I love you HoJo!!!! Also, I'd like to add that Hall & Oates was one of the best concerts I've been to. I saw them with Train. ♥️

Juky 31, 1984 I was picking up my girl working at the bar at the Columbia Inn, in Columbia, MD. I had flown into BWI earlier than evening and I was tired. Also that evening, Howard Jones and the Eurythmics were both playing at Merriweather Post Pavillion, The bar in the Columbia Inn closed at 2 AM. Frequently, whomever played Merriweather Post stayed at the Columbia Inn. Just prior to 2 AM, about when I thought that we were about to leave when in walked Howard Jones and Dave Stewart. They proceeded to bang on the piano in that bar for many hours. I was wrecked for my workday the following day. I didn't care. There was no sign of Annie however.
