Really enjoyed the conversation of what goes on behind the scenes. I worked as a production welder for JBA Headers in the early 2000's. I welded many a "CARB Certified" badge on headers. I once had the opportunity to make the trip to pick up a car from a test lab. I drove up with our R&D guy. I don't remember where it was, but for some reason Ontario, CA stands out for me.

While I understand that electric motor technology is only starting to come into it's own (smaller, more powerful motors), I'm surprised that engines aren't spinning generators and running traction motors, similar to locomotives. It's a basic technology that's been around for a hundred years, but it's only been utilized in large equipment.

The very first hybrid vehicle was made in 1899... as a mechanic on heavy equipment I can say that the equipment that is hybrid is down roughly the sane amount of time that it is running... our mechanical (engine, transmission, transfer case, differentials) run 24/7 with 0 issues.

@@robby844 Hybrid: A vehicle with an internal combustion engine and an electric motor, each of which can propel it. The key here is that the engine is not directly propelling the vehicle, therefore it is not a hybrid. The engine is solely being used to generate electricity.

Electric vehicles require battery maintenance (recharged). The electric grid in this country mostly use natural gas turbine generators. All that the electric plan does is shift where the emissions are emitted, instead of on the many roads and cities by vehicles, its emitted at the power generation stations.

As an English man, I have found this very interesting. The talk about the EPA was very informative as this is something I wanted to understand better due to watching other US based tuners constantly taking issue with the EPA over the fines they have been handing out to cowboy tuners. You guys are way ahead of us in the UK with the EPA. Thanks, Karl Also, I have watched Gale for a while now and have learned much from him he is one very intelligent and engaging gentleman.

California needs to be controlled by the Feds more. It doesn't make any sense that one state (or two) out of 50 come up with standards that are different than the majority. It seems that CA is simply trying to create and grow useless jobs under the guise of clean air. They are trying to phase out natural gas in residential homes, fireplaces, gas water heaters, HVAC, gas BBQ's and small engine lawn products under the belief that California will save the globe. Seems rather useless to put the CA public at the high expense while other states and countries are "dirty".

Banks quit selling their 6.2 sidewinder kit a few years ago. I wish the would bring it back for 6.2/6.5. Maybe stock 500- 1000 until they sell out and then stock more.

Maybe one of you could answer this question. I know people personally that have been visited by the EPA. So my question is why does the EPA feel a need to wear a gun on their side when visiting these facilities? It seems way out of the realm of the issue at hand. Thanks

An Introduction to all of The Federal Agencies that were buying Arm's and very large amounts of Ammunition During The Obama years if I'm remembering correctly, lots of people wondering why The EPA Needed 350,000 rounds of Handgun Rounds. And probably driving around with a Long Gun in The Trunk. Which BTW probably wouldn't qualify as Safe Storage, in Today's World.

The EPA agents fiscally carry a loaded gun when going into tuning companys parts distributors mom and pop small garages. IMO there is no need to carry a firearm when investigating these companies that are just simply making parts and selling parts. The mom-and-pop shops with a two-bay shop just doing basic maintenance and the tuning facilities.

I think if they can get a cheap way to produce large amounts of hydrogen you will see hydrogen fuel cell hybrids. Charge the battery up and use the hydrogen as needed. A diesel electric hybrid would be nice. I am curios is they would add generators to trailers for braking and extra charging. .
