Both! Slower swing speeds must be the most common. Realistically, ability to deliver consistent strike just isn’t there among amateurs. This is also where it would be nice to see ping equipment given it’s known to be more forgiving. I would be interested in a fit if ping was an option in the line up, especially driver hybrid fw.

Excellent fitting. Her swing speed makes it especially useful for me, even though I am a 5 foot 11 inch 218 pound male. That may sound odd, but I am also 82 years old so my swing speed is about the same or just a bit lower than hers. With a 10.5 degree head and 54 degree R flex shaft, and being a little bit off my best form as a result of some age related degeneration of my right knee meniscus, I’m getting 118 - 124 ball speed and 190 - 205 carry. So your results with Meg make me think hey, just possibly I might get a similar improvement with your expert and creative approach. Thanks for this.

Would the higher swing weight/shaft droop and her setting up to the middle of the face be causing all though heel strikes? I was told you should set up with the ball slightly to the toe to hit center
@cryptoking80605 ай бұрын
With the Aerojet you MUST lower tee height. I lowered mine by over an inch and that's when I starting piping it. Center strikes were easy. It did not like high tees at all. I hit a tad flatter ball but they were as long as high launch heads. Most importantly I hit way more fairways with lower tee height and flatter ball flight, same overall length. Win win. If I want to hit a high launch ball I'll change drivers. But the Aerojet is money for accuracy and length.

Really enjoy watching these fittings. Couple of questions. Do you not stock Ping. Do you ever ask what ball people play or do you tell them to bring their game ball. Surely different balls can add or lower spin ?
@epgolfstudios Жыл бұрын
Thanks Baz. And no we do not stock Ping. They are extremely hard to do business with apparently!! 🤦 But their loss! And I don't recommend balls when doing driver fittings really, only because the ball will make waayyy more difference to the irons and wedges, it will only make a very marginal difference to driver (most people wouldn't notice it at all) so without analysing their irons/wedges I don't want to recommend something that could be detrimental to the rest of their game.
@Baz303 Жыл бұрын
Good to know thanks. Only asking as I'm going for a driver fitting and was wondering if I should take the ball I use. Wouldn't hurt I suppose. After watching this I’m more confused in a way - so I’ve been planning on getting a pxg fitting thinking somewhat this may help (generally hit fairways no issue ) but wanted to clear my push fade and feel like my current driver is causing this mostly. But now feel like maybe this sort of multi head fitting maybe better ? Great video, such a great tempo swing
@jbweezer Жыл бұрын
PXG can move the amount of weight in 3 locations in the driver in almost unlimited variations, that's how they can mute your miss tendencies. And if your swing changes its super easy to adapt their driver head because of their weighting system. They have two heads regular and extreme forgiveness. You can definitely be properly fit between the two. I have their Gen 5 head and have tweaked it around with the weights after my swing improved. I just got fitted for a new shaft in the same head and gained 20 yards and only had to change some of the weighting to accommodate the new shaft characteristics. It's great. Plus the same weight style are used in their fairway woods and hybrids. So if you buy the extra weight kit you have endless fine tuning options in all your long clubs. I don't work for pxg just been happy with the product and the tuneability.... Helps to future proof your setup for awhile if anything changes in your swing or you want to change ball flight characteristics. Cheaper than always buying new clubs!

Hi, you make the best fitting videos on youtube, really love how you drill down. I have a similar tempo to the golfer in this fitting but swing it around 95mph. Im 55 and slowed down a little now, could i ask if you think i would be ok in the Stiff Flex Hzrdus CB Red 60? Im currently in the Tensei Blue 55 gram reg, but i think i spin it a little too high and have a two way miss. Im half decent playing off 6.5, but feel i lack a bit of consistency. I would love to come for a fitting but think you are too far away. Thanks
@epgolfstudios4 ай бұрын
Hey Greg, thanks, really appreciate that and glad you like the videos. The answer is yes but the reality is the only way to know what will work best is by testing it. Don't change shaft to try and reduce spin, that won't work. Shafts are just a timing device, they help find strike and deliver the face square on a more consistent basis. So change for better strike and more directional consistency. But trying to figure out which shaft gives you that can be tricky. I'm not going to say shaft flex is completely irrelevant, but most people I fit can't tell if I give them a regular or a stuff and it rarely makes a big difference to the outcome of the results (when it's the same shaft at the same weight) so don't get too caught up in what flex, just test out different shafts and play what works the best 👍

Always learning lots from your videos. This video reminded me of a question that's been nagging at me. After adjusting a driver hosel away from the standard setting, how should one line the club up to keep the hosel adjustment "in use". Callaway and Titleist have a 2 cog system which I believe retains the grip's original orientation so we can grip as per normal and the head should be oriented as adjusted, but for single cog hosels, I dont know what to do. Have a cobra 9deg head and turned it up to 10.5 to get some height/spin and close the face, but the grip is now oriented clockwise close to 90deg (not sure how exact). For each hosel adjustment do we square the face and grip it? Or grip it based on the supposed new orientation of the grip - thus allowing the face to move? Thanks!
@epgolfstudios Жыл бұрын
Thanks Bovi, glad we can help 👍 and it's only Callaway that always you to keep the grip in the same orientation. Which is why most manufacturers have a 360 grip on their woods as standard, so when you move it around it doesn't make any difference to grip orientation. But as for lining up the face square it depends on a lot of things really. Thinking about what you need at impact being one of the biggest things. So if your are adding loft to help close the face through impact and the club sits closed at address, just let it sit closed. For me I personally always just get the right head at the right loft to have the face sitting exactly how i want it to. That's always really the best idea. Just get fitted properly and then everything should align how you want it to and that should compliment the shot you are trying to hit 👌
@77bovi Жыл бұрын
@@epgolfstudios thanks Ross, would it be correct to say after hosel adjustment just grip with the shaft vertically straight and then set the head down (and let it sit as it lies)? Sadly where I am (Singapore) the only proper fitting is with Titleist and all brands are run by whoever is the distributor-slash retailer (which in my own and others experience is a self fit at best but really a sales fit). There is no independent fitter here who has access to the major brands. golftec here has titleist mizuno and 1 other brand iirc. Nothing like what you offer.

Otherwise my numbers are close to identical to megs except im a little more in-to-out so really fun video to watch. The actual launch and spin numbers pretty much all come from the head. So really optimising distance it mostly in the head. However getting a shaft / weight / swingweight combo that allows you to strike the ball as consistently as possibly helps fully utilise the performance that the head offers 👌

I wonder if I might get an answer to a question here that I've been pondering for a while now. I didn't know what a fitting was and last year I ended up with 3 drivers. Now that I've seen a number of examples of what can be accomplished through a good fitting, I am interested but there is no way in the world I am going to buy another driver. So, would it be possible to get a fitting where all I am looking at is the best possible combination of the 3 adjustable drivers I have and with the option of buying a shaft for one of them? Or is that not something a fitter would do? Not that it matters but my numbers are similar to this person's and I would also be thrilled if I could drive the ball 230-240.

When you found a good start with the Titleist TSR2 & HZRDUS Red CB shaft, why did you try totally different head/shaft combinations? Instead, why didn't you try different heads on the same shaft and/or different shafts on the same head? Or try different length/SW combos? Basically narrow down an already good combo to make it great? Instead, you spent all your time trying very different combos and only tried the TSR3 at the very end when she was likely tired and she wound up with a good, but not a great fitting.

And the rest 😂
@epgolfstudios Жыл бұрын
But the set up you refer to would have been very close to the Aerojet with Brava shaft. That shaft was brought out to rival autoflex. Probably could have taken even more head weight out and tested that but honestly the numbers we were getting from the TSR with a stock shaft never would have been bettered with the autoflex. Plus the only reason for TSR1 is low headweight but I adjusted the head weight anyway. So the TSR1 just spins a lot more than the 3 so would have lost distance
@razor7241 Жыл бұрын
@@epgolfstudios Makes sense. I know not everyone is going to want to or can pay the price of an Autoflex shaft. I was more interested in the TSR1 head as it is light and really good for slower swing speed players. I am 76 years old, still play at a scratch hndcp and got a TSi head with an Autoflex shaft about 2-3 years ago or so and picked up 15 yds carry and have NEVER hit the ball straighter in my life. Since then, 4 of my friends have tried my club with similar results and got the same club. You did a great job with Meg (man she’s cute). I’m sure she is over the moon picking up that kind of distance. That’s really hard to do when you are already a really good player! Well done!
@epgolfstudios Жыл бұрын
@@razor7241 the TSR1 is lightweight yes but again when you can take weight out of the 2 or 3 head then that just matches the same weight as the one. Then it's all about the best spin profile for you. If you are someone who hits up on it a lot then the lower spinning 3 head will help increase distance a lot. If you need more spin then the 1 head will be better for you 👍

How is she reaching these distances with her slow swing speed? I should be able to get 300yards on my 100mph swing speed on my tsr2 but i don't 😅
@epgolfstudios Жыл бұрын
Meg hits up on it quite a bit and normally hits a bit of a draw too so that's a very good delivery to optimise distance. With 100mph normally around the 270 mark is optimal. But again there are lots of variables in there.
@johngibson2639 Жыл бұрын
I saw a video recently by Matt Blois (now called Golf Liberty on YT but used to be at TXG) who suggested roughly 2.4 yards carry per mph clubhead speed. On that basis, I don’t think 300 yards is realistic at 100mph - 250 carry, 270 total perhaps.
@epgolfstudios Жыл бұрын
@@johngibson2639 absolutely correct John 👍 really for 300 outside I would say you'd need to be close to 110 on quad in all honesty. Depending on where you are in the world of course! Here in the UK in winter time with zero roll out you probably need closer to 115 😂

@alexshearer3227 Жыл бұрын

When Meg middled the TSR3 it was 15 launch and 2500 spin. Perfect. Again it's not about speed or the loft of the head, it's all about delivery. Everyone will have differently optimised numbers because of different delivery. And yes correct if a very straight player wants to play a bit closer to the edge to get more distance then they can play a little lower spin. Yes miss will be a bit worse but if you're hitting it around 220/230 and you're a good player it's far less likely you will be in trouble that often
