I eat some beef & lamb shawarma, falafel, and baklava from a locally owned Mediterranean restaurant.
If you are new to "ASMR" and/or my channel, welcome aboard and thanks for dropping by! The majority of videos I create, often in an unorthodox manner, are meant to help you relax, sleep, hopefully experience ASMR, and any other use that might help you find some peace of mind, concentrate, study, decompress, etc.
What is ASMR?
ASMR stands for Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response. It's just a non-scientific, made-up term that a layperson came up with to describe the feeling characterized as a pleasant tingling sensation felt in various parts of the body (head, scalp, back, legs, etc.) in response to various visual, auditory, tactile, olfactory, and/or cognitive stimuli, such as crinkling bags, hand movements, whispering, personal attention or watching someone perform a task. It's like goosebumps, but much more pleasant and without the uncomfortable chills.
ASMR videos are meant to intentionally induce this sensation in the viewer, often referred to as "tingles". However, the videos also serve to provide a relaxing, calming, comforting and soothing experience for people beyond ASMR purposes. Many people who do not experience ASMR still enjoy these videos. I experienced ASMR throughout my life, but no longer do.

My best guess for that white cream kind of sauce: it might be Tzatziki, which is usually served as a dip, soup or sauce and is made of strained or diluted yogurt, mixed with cucumbers, garlic, salt, olive oil, sometimes with vinegar or lemon juice, and herbs such as dill, mint, parsley and thyme.

Much love from Lebanon! Long time subscriber 😊 🇱🇧 I feel cultural pride watching this and very happy that you like it! To clarify some of the questions you had: - The Falafel sauce is called Tarator and it's made from Tahini, lemon, water, and salt. - The Falafel itself looks green and it should be a lighter brown on the inside! It's supposed to be made from Fava beans, Chickpeas, and spices, then fried. They probably added parsley to it which is not traditional. - The Falafel is meant to be eaten in an Arabic bread sandwich with all fresh parsley, tomato, radish, and Tarator. If you eat things separately, some of the flavors will overpower your palate. - Beef Shawarma is made from cow, not lamb. Lamb is too fatty! And never to be eaten with rice because it has mild spices and the rice would just wash it out. - Stuffed grape leaves are normally vegan. Stuffed with rice, carrots, chickpeas, parsley, onion, tomato, and olive oil. We eat it for Lent. - Baklava is indeed heavy but it's usually made in small bite-size pieces so we don't overdose on it 😁 Sa7tein Ephemeral Rift! (That means I wish you 2 healths!)

5:04 i think it's garlic sauce. Here in The Netherlands, due to being such a multicultural country eating mediterian food is normal. Shawarma, kebab(lamb or chicken), falafal are all products i love, and most come with garlic sauce and some spicy sauce. We also have lämachün. Thats a very thin pizza that you roll up ( iknow, it's super weird) and it has small pieces of lamb with a variety of vegetables and would you guess it? *Garlic sauce* 🤣 Conclusion: these type of meals are the best and i hope you'll try this "turkish" pizza or lämachün some time. As a kid I used to live a block from a large public park where there would be a bunch of festivals throughout the summer months. A bunch of these festivals were ethic celebrations that included history, culture and, of course, food. I was but a wee lad of seven when I tried shawarma for the first time. I also lived in in a majority hispanic population where I also learned to love al pastor as a kid as well, when visiting friends birthday parties and pretty girls quinceaneras. It was only later I learned that it was Lebanese immigrants to Mexico who brought the idea that became al pastor.

i work in a mediterranean restaurant, so that looks like tzatziki (a yogurt and cucumber sauce/dip), chipotle mayo (that’s what we serve that’s slightly spicy and that orange colour), and tahini (a sesame sauce). the stuffed grape leaves, we call dolmas. my restaurant is a little different though, we call the beef and lamb “gyro”, and make a sandwich by stuffing the pita bread, so it’s a pita sandwich, with gyro meat! think of how a burger is layered, but inside a pita bread. hummus is mainly chickpeas (aka garbanzo beans), and we use tahini to make it. personally, falafel is super good with a spicy hummus, or any hummus, to counteract the dryness that comes with not eating it fresh out of the fryer! thanks for coming to my ted talk

I used to work in an authentic Lebanese place. The pale brown stuff is hummus, it looks runny so it's probably been topped with a bit of oil, and it's made with chickpeas of course. The white sauce is likely tahini, or tahaina as we pronounced it - it's made from roasted sesame seeds and it's really good to add nuttiness and moisture to everything. Either that or it's the fluffy garlic sauce - ER didn't comment about it being garlicy though. Not sure what the red sauce is - potentially just sriracha or sriracha mixed with their garlic sauce. Falafel is made from a mix of chickpeas and vegetables and then deep fried until they float - the kick you got from it was probably garlic and onion. Completely vegetarian and so damn tasty & good for you. The salad is called fattoush salad - the dressing has like a fermented/balsamic flavour and sometimes comes with pita chips on top. It's iceberg lettuce, red and green cabbage, tomatoes and cucumber. One thing you're missing is kafta, which is hit or miss depending on where you get it from. It's a seasoned ground lamb mixture with pine nuts and shaped into a log. We grilled ours but it wasn't very popular, and there might be better ways to cook it. My favourite was always the beef on rice - I was the one who taught my coworkers that you don't have to cook the beef until it's black :) Since it's shaved so thin it fries up quickly on the grill. The rice I don't remember what it's seasoned with, but you're right that it's absolutely heavenly. I drown mine in tahaina :D I don't know what the grape leaf thing you ate was - that's the only part I'm lost as we didn't have it. The baklava is a mixture of sliced or crushed nuts (I think pine?) between layers of think pastry and soaked in sweet syrup. And that's all I know lol. Never thought I'd watch ASMR of someone eating, let alone comment a bunch of stuff about Lebanese food on it! I miss having fresh shawarma every day though, it was soo good. Anyway, I'm glad you enjoyed it ER! Keep water handy, or even get a yogurt drink to wash it down with - those spices will catch up to you! Also, if you want an authentic shawarma sandwich, my coworkers tell me that in Lebanon it would come with hummus, chicken, pickles, pickled turnip and that's it - none of the veggies and other add-ons they add in north america.

@@hatrez907 Yeah there are thousands shops cooking "Döner" in Turkey. In 1960s Some of the Turkish people migrated to Germany and they spreaded it first Germany after Europe and now I think worldwide. Basically "Döner" means turning around but you have to do this until the end. "çevirme" it has same meaning but this is slower you can do this couple of time, not al the time like Döner. We use "Çevirme" for toast kinda things.

@@Blankonroids I'm pretty sure K2 TV has had some. It seems he was showing his own dismay when he found out that ER hasn't hade gyros before. That's why the first sentence is formed as a rhetorical question. Kind of like "wow, you've never had gyros?" And then the second sentence simply saying, "damn", seems to signify that he finds it remarkable that he hasn't had one before.

This food looks absolutely delicious! ER, whether it's one of the staff members I love very much (particularly Margaret) or you as yourself sharing your views or doing anything else on here including Let's Eat I really enjoy everything and I appreciate you also for your points of view as well. I will go to both past and present Let's Eat videos and have something while I watch them also. Like you, I'm mindful of what I eat along with how much sugar I consume etc and while I was watching this I was eating something you may or may not enjoy. On the West Coast, there's a term known as Take N Bake. A restaurant in my area (also in some other states as well prepares the pizza there then you take it home and bake it yourself. The one I always select is the one with grilled chicken, bacon, spinach, and artichoke which I absolutely love. Sadly though I haven't seen them on the East Coast at all, but you can use those ingredients or similar to make a homemade pizza certainly if you wish. In closing, I love the video as I do everytime you upload and I hope you and your family are also doing well.

For those who are not happy calling it mediterranean food. Actually it is. - Shawarma is like the greek Gyros a copy of the turkish/ottoman Döner Kebap. - I am not sure about Baklava because it might be invented by the Assyrians or the Ottomans. - And sarma is most definitely turkish. - The "white souce" as you called it is actually Tzatziki it is invented by greeks which is just yogurt with garlic, chives and maybe cucumber. Turks have something similar which is called cacik but is more watery compared to the greek version. - Falafel is from Nord african, Egypt to be exactly. I am happy if I could clear things out for you :)

It is served by itself (as a dip) or as a major ingredient in hummus, baba ghanoush, and halva." & "Hummus is a dip, spread, or savory dish made from cooked, mashed chickpeas blended with tahini, lemon juice, and garlic." Another thing you made me do: order some Syrian food with Hummus :D

I was watching "A Personal Visit from Frank Walker, ZMD (2015)" and came across a comment from this guy, Arcos Of Blackheart. I wanted to share it because I felt like although it probably wasn't done intentionally, the idea went overlooked. But regardless of that I think it's a stellar idea that would definitely fit in the ER universe, and all of its unique characters. "Rift my good man, I have an idea for a video, that I trust only you to pull off. With any luck, you may find the idea entertaining as well. The Time Keeper. A character with the distinct purpose of cataloging time, and the inhabitants of it. Someone has managed to, above all odds, wind themselves up in the time keeper's domain, and interrupts his work. Surrounded by the ticking of clocks, he chats with them, trying to figure out how they got there, and how to send them back to where they came from. I imagine it should involve some writing sounds at the start, as he's cataloging things in his journal. Hope you take me up on this idea, I'm sure it could be a doozy of a relaxing video." - Arcos Of Blackheart, 4 years ago
