A good tutorial! Two questions: Can I convert a MIDI song that is stored on the SX900 into audio like that? Just playing the MIDI song and starting the recorder... Can I record audio like that when the SX900 is played via USB MIDI? Cubase sends MIDI data to SX900, the audio recorder on SX900 records the triggered sounds... Cheers

How to create some "sequencer" to change between voices... eg. Bar 1-8 using piano, bar 9 fill-in + guitar, bar 16 change to strings, bar 28 ending without pressing any regist bank and the keyboard automatically change that setting

Hello, and thank you so much for the tutorial. I am a home owner of a Yamaha sx 900. Please may you guide me on recording. I want to record a multi track file on the 16 channels. My challenge is that l want to first record a style eg Eurodance 1 without accompaniment in one of the Channels, then add on other voices to play along that style. The style become the drums around where l will build the voices but l am failing to do that. I do not want to use drumkits to create styles but to use already existing on the Keyboard but without accompaniment. Hope l explained myself well and looking forward to your guidance.

Can you after recording your audio add tracks to it or put that into a new midi track and edit it? Even add parts to it? I'm finding that it is somewhat easy to record but very difficult to edit anything.

Please I have a question, can I play an audio file like a wav or mp3 song and start singing on it while being recorded? I tried to look for this but all in vein because when I play the karaoke song and hit recording the audio of the song stops. Also, there is no option in the recording menu that allows me to play the mp3 /wav karaoke and record at the same time. This means that I cannot record/capture the internal sound of the mp3/wav songs in the recording process.

Hii ...can you explain what is the use of those midi ports ( in and out ) in sx900. How to use those ?

Midi is data (not sound). So these ports are used to transfer data between two different equipments. For example, you can play on the keyboard and transfer what you are playing on a DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) like Cubase That way you are transferring each and single note, along with it's length, duration, Pitch Bend changes, Modulation Wheel changes etc. Like creating a digital sheet music. Afterwards you can change anything you want on your pc. (Each note is easily editable on your DAW now). Of course as long you are not transferring any actual "sound"(voices), now you will use the "voices" that your DAW has and not the voices of the SX900. Keep in mind that every single voice is written on a different midi channel, so you will have by default two channels for the drums(of the style), one channel for the bass(of the style),one channel for your right-hand 1 voice, one channel for you left-hand voice etc. So you can have up to 16 different channels in default for just one recording. (16 "sets" of sheet music like the sheet music a classical orchestra conductor has for every different kind of instruments). Of course, you can add more channels on another recording or record one by one each time. Another use is to connect a digital piano (or any other digital instrument) with the SX900 and while you are playing on the 88 keybed of your digital piano, the "voices" that you will use and hear will be those of the SX900.

The problem is when you have to insert that wav into a multi track session in a computer, you need to put it in place. The keyboard is missing an automatic conversion from midi to audio.
