Hello, Lovelies! Today I'm sharing the next episode in my Messy To Minimal series and it's a fun one because I'm working on extreme Decluttering my sister Anna's small apartment!
Minimalism to our family means each item in our home has a purpose and gets used regularly. It's less about the number of items and more about the function of each item and how it contributes to our home. Let me know if you enjoyed this video! I can't wait to take you through the rest of the house as declutter, re-organize and minimalize!

These videos have finally motivated my grandma to get rid of so many things! Our house has been stuffed to the max, cant even walk into either of our garages and the living room has a place to sit thats all and the back bedroom is piled floor to ceiling! I love these videos and am so grateful for you making them! I have been trying for years to make this happen and quarantine mixed with the motivation has finally worked!

Natalie, this is like my dream come true, to go into someone else's mess and tidy and organize for them. I've been dreaming of doing this to my parents' house for years, but my mom is pretty much a hoarder so no chance of that. Oh well, everybody likes their space with different amounts of stuff. You did a great job with Anna's space, especially the kitchen!
@jainthorne4136
@jainthorne4136 4 жыл бұрын
Maybe present it to your mom as a small project like doing just the bathroom. Go carefully and do a bit of a freshening up, too to really sell it. Maybe offer to paint it a new color as painting bathrooms is usually a small job. If she likes that then you could offer to do something else small like maybe dresser drawers or even a cabinet or two in the kitchen. Offer it with love and be prepared that she may not accept or may not maintain it. Still it's nice to try.

Great job! 💛 great tips in all your episodes! I live in an apartment. My second bedroom is a storage room because I’m when my dad and I moved out of our 2600 sqft home years ago, and being an only child, I have my parents stuff and my stuff because my mom has passed away and my dad is in a skilled nursing facility, so going through stuff is definitely overwhelming! I’ve gotten rid of a lot, but still a lot more to go! Videos like these encourage me to keep going! Thanks!

Thank you for pointing that out! Good to always check before you toss! I buy a lot of things second hand, so I can testify that I cannot always find manuals online. (I currently have a sewing machine I'm trying to figure out without a manual 😫)
@SnowySpiritRuby
@SnowySpiritRuby 3 жыл бұрын
@@TarTelperienNumenor My sewing machine was made in the 40s or 50s (a little Singer Featherweight that my mom got in 1969 when she was in high school, and now it's mine), and a few years back we discovered that the middle 6 pages of the manual were missing (it's really hard to thread and do a few other things on it without the manual), so I googled the make and model number, and found a manual for it online (I was really surprised to find it, considering how old the machine is) - someone had scanned one and made a PDF - so I downloaded it and printed the missing pages, and now I have a complete manual for a 60-70 y/o machine that still works great but hasn't been made for decades. I've been unsuccessful with finding some other manuals online, though, so you really never know what you'll find - sometimes you can find what you're looking for, sometimes you can't.
@TarTelperienNumenor
@TarTelperienNumenor 3 жыл бұрын
@@SnowySpiritRuby Wow, that's awesome that you were able to find that manual! I've also recently bought an old school Singer machine from the 20's, the kind with the big metal manual foot pedal, I can't wait to get a replacement belt to experiment on it! The machine I was talking about before is a fairly new Baby Lock machine, I'm so surprised I can't find a manual online anywhere! 😫

💛 wow! Natalie, now you’re helping other people reach their goals. Soon you might become a professional organizer. Great inspiration. Tip: cut the instructions of the frozen food and store them in the bag with the food. For future tip: put a spare key in a medicine prescription bottle then glue an existing rock from her home. Dig a hole into a plant pot or in front yard. That has helped me so much.

I enjoyed your “budget of space” tip! It kind of gets my thinking going of my own personal impulse purchases. Every item in my house should have a home. Oh to be a newlywed again! We are the same age as you guys, Nat and Wes. Been married 8 years this August with 3 little girls: 5, 3, and 10 months. Baby girl came 4 days before our anniversary. Anna has herself SO MUCH MORE together than I did in my first apartment. We lived on Ramen and bad money choices. 🤦‍♀️💛

If you have any cook books, you can keep them on the far left. Also, I have almost the same type of shelves in my kitchen as you do. I have a basket for paper napkins, kitchen towels, hot pads, etc.

Anna is so fortunate to have you as her sister. I wish I was a sister so Natalie would come help me. I have watched so much the last year that I feel like a sister. I am working alone and I went weeks with gusto, but then I stalled. I just cannot keep moving. The remaining thing I keep doing is eating from my pantry/freezer/fridge. I have not gone for groceries since September. I am getting to where I will need to soon as things dwindle.

When you start to declutter your clothes, don't forget to go through the ones in the hamper, washing machine or dryer so you have enough space.

One item I find works is a shoe hanger which hangs on the back of a door but I fill it with the plastic and other woven bags which accumulate.My one is in the hall cupboard where I pick up my coat. When it is full declutter

Thank you, Anna, for inviting us into your home! Your closet was already so neat and organized. 😍But it was great to see and learn from how you were able to make it function even better for you. I’m inspired! And by the way, I am also a member of The Blanket Club. 🙋‍♀️😂 I will be trying the Blanket Basket idea. Thank you again! You are beautiful, inside and out! It clearly runs in your family. 😊💛

Idk if anyone else mentioned this yet? Sriracha and many other hot sauces don't actually require refrigeration. Also, half gallon mason jars with sticker calkboard labels are super cute and functional for an open shelf to store grains and beans (dry goods) it also keeps bugs out

Loved this video, how great of you to help out your sister with this. Anna should totally get rid of the brown shelf in the kitchen, it would open up that area and make the space look bigger! Also using the baskets on the open shelving was a great idea however using them all on the bottom of the shelves will make the open shelving more of a feature & look more styled & organised.
