Oh, Natalie! You inspired me to clean my fridge. It takes a lot to inspire me, too. One drawer (deli) left to do tomorrow as I can hardly walk. But, it feels so good to have every shelf scrubbed, and out dated, old or just not used things gone. Three kitchen trash bags off to trash collection. My poor husband of 53 years, couldn’t see exactly how much was in there so he kept on shopping each week for our family of four adults (two children w/disabilities) and everyone has favorite foods. 16 pounds of butter (going to freeze half), 4 1/2 gallons of milk (we only live a mile from a small market), so I’m hoping we can make some shopping changes. But, I washed all the fruit and put it in storage containers so we have raspberries, blueberries, strawberries, cherries, green grapes, nectarines, peaches and apples all ready to locate easily and eat. Even changed the water filter, always a big deal. Thank you.

Don't know if anyone has mentioned it, but (I am also a condiment junkie!) you have several items that are in your fridge that don't require refrigeration i.e. ketchup, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, Tabasco, most hot sauces too....there, that is a whole shelf available!

Natalie! You're just a super amazing person, and I am so happy that I found your channel! I don't have kids or a family yet, but you have inspired me to get organized and live more minimally. Also, a tip I learned from Jamie's Journey on KZbin for cleaning fridge bins and shelves: fill your clean bathtub with hot water and dawn dish soap, then let them soak in there for 15-20 min! It works wonders and should seep onto the crack of your produce drawer enough to clean it out. Best wishes to you and your beautiful family!

I'm a condiment hoarder!!!!! I also love how you organize the fridge freezer and I'm thing about purchasing the veggie crisper containers because usually its the veggies that go bad and the big money waster in our fridge at home. I also use the fridge freshener (attached on the side with the suction cup). One piece of advice I can give is to write the date you finish cleaning the fridge on it. Those usually have to be changed every 30 days to keep the fridge smelling good. If you don't have one, I sometimes use a disposable cup with baking soda and just leave it in the back of the fridge (I write the date on that too).

Nat, I'm wondering if you've considered switching the spots that the fridge and your coffee centre live. If things would fit, it would allow you to more fully open your fridge and freezer doors. Also, after learning more about nuts, I understand that the best place to store walnuts is the freezer to keep them the freshest-tasting and avoid them going rancid..

I try to clean my fridge every week because having a lot of fresh veggies inside make a lot of mess! But yeah bins are a life saver for me too!
@KrosanBeast3153 жыл бұрын
For someone like me who lives in Japanese-style House( which I designed), organization of a Fridge is critical for health and hygiene. First thing is, how many people are using it? Second thing is, what foods and drinks do you use the most? Third thing is, how much diversity do you feel you need with your ingredients or supplies? Fourth thing is, how much rotation do you go through per week or every two weeks? These four questions help decide where things go in a Fridge, how much is necessary, how much space can be allotted for ingredients, and how quickly items get consumed. If an item gets buried in a Fridge or forgotten about because it is isn't immediately visible, it can go bad quickly and cause all sorts of contamination or health problems. It is also important that if you can afford to, buy a new fridge with bins for Produce, Meats, or Dairy with moisture controls. This helps keep food fresh longer and can save hundreds to thousands of dollars a year from food not going bad too quickly or getting frozen from too much Moisture at too cold a temperature. The biggest hurdle with Fridge maintenance is keeping it CLEAN. Plastic shelf liners with grooves in them can be placed onto glass shelves so most food stains, food crumbs or debris, or liquid can be wiped off and out of the fridge. It helps keep stains from sticking to glass shelves and prevents food spills from making glass potentially stick to their frames making cleaning the undersides nearly impossible. Food Bin Liners made of paper cloth are excellent for keeping stains and debris off the bottom of the bins and staining them or having puddles of food spoil in the bins. Lastly, Clean the outside and inside of a Fridge or Bins with NATURAL or ORGANIC cleaners. You do NOT want to use any synthetic or toxic cleaners to be used inside a Fridge or Freezer.

No matter how many times i clean organise declutter the other people i live with do whatever they want and me the magic fairy always has to clean up afterwards. Gah. The day i have a fridge and freezer to myself or at least shared with a sane person ill definitely cry tears of joy.

It’s a constant chore keeping the fridge clean. I always store breakfast items together and sandwich, ie mustard, mayo, ketchup steak sauce. etc together. I measured fir my new fridge, it’s a French door and freezer on bottom. I love it ,except, I didn’t factor in its depth😱 it sticks out about 5 “ so my right side door won’t open all the way. My sister in-law has the same issue , maybe it’s contagious lol also you might try a pastry bag to transfer mayo to containers.
