For the Sydney experience including downtown (opera house, Bridge etc) the main tourist beaches (Bondi, Manly) and then the Blue Mountains you could comfortably do it in 5 days or even 4 days. Then another week to see Cairns, Gold Coast and Byron or alternatively go down south to Melbourne and Tasmania.

The train line and highway follow a rather precarious ridgeline through the mountains. Those massive cliffs falling down to the valleys are on either side and form an impenetrable labyrinth on both the ocean side and western side of the Great Dividing Range which runs from the northern tip of Australia for thousands of km all the way down to the south before turning west just north of Melbourne. The canyons and tree ferns do go back all the way to the dinosaurs. Relatively recently a dozen primitive living fossil Wollemi Pines were discovered in a lost canyon which were kept secret until they could be mass propagated to protect them.. Its fun to stand on the lookout next to the 3 sisters and chat to the rock climbers as they work their way up the sisters on the other side of the gap. Before they cut the steps quite a few sections were simply long ladders on the cliffs.

hi Gabriel, that was amazing the weather did cooperate to some extent. That was like when you went to the Grand Canyon but instead of it being dry and arid and very humid and lush incredible green canopy. Beatiful cliffs, beautiful wilderness, really good hike, thank you to share this with us, Gabriel. When you go to Melbourne and as you said that your friend is ready to loan her car to you, you can still maybe borrow it to drive at least one part of the Great Ocean Road there (from Geelong to Warmambool on the ocean side). I totally understand that you don't have enough time to do Tasmania this time and you want to experience all of the diversity of Australia, including the Great Barrier Reef and nearly tropics (tropical coast) of Cairns and maybe after that the desert outback of Alice Springs-Uluru before going to Fiji. If you have time and will, you can still go to New Zealand after Fiji, maybe catching the amazing fall foliage in the Alps of the South Island and enjoy some fjords/lakes in Fiordland - I am sure that there could be one of your places of interest as you like mountains and wilderness very much. Whatever you do, I will follow your next videos as you are in the part of the world that is very interesting to see, it seems. Have a nice time, be well and enjoy your moments.

If your heading to Melbourne I highly recommend philip island to see the penguin parade. It was one of the highlights of 3 months spend in Aus. I started my trip in Sydney in April. Blue mountains were so foggy unfortunately for me. I looped then round via Melbourne, Adelaide, North to red centre then Darwin then back down the east coast. Very grateful to travel this time of year once in north. Wouldn't have standed the heat in full summer. Went to Tasmania on a separate trip in Nov, weather was still a bit iffy then, but was absolutely fantastic none the less.

On a lovely sunny day, Australia is an island paradise. Melbourne’s weather doesn’t look any better than Sydney at the moment unfortunately 😢 Cairns looks better. Please go and see our Great Barrier Reef and do some snorkelling… the fish and the coral are pure magic. I hope you will come back another time when our weather is better - this amount of rain is most unusual, we are usually a very dry, desert continent. Get ready for Melbourne because this Monday Tuesday and Wednesday will all be rainy days. If you can extend your stay in New South Wales by 3 day maybe visit Wollongong, Newcastle take a train past Canberra then come to Melbourne by early Thursday you’ll get some decent weather and the visitors of the Grand Prix. 👍👍

Much of the rock you see in the video is Sydney sandstone, weathers easily into weird forms. It initially formed as seabed and was later raised to its present position by geological forces. Many of the original stone buildings in Sydney were made of sandstone, looks beautiful if protected but weathers easily.

I’ve lived in Melbourne all my life. I’d suggest a visit to The Dandenongs along with a trip on Puffing Billy (Steam train). Also I think you’d love a drive along The Great Ocean Road to see the beautiful coastline and sights. Definitely go to Healesville Sanctuary to see our native animals in their habitat. If you have time, go to Warburton, Mt Donna Buang and then on to the Redwood Forest. So many more places but these are a great starting point.

I would suggest if you ever do visit Australia , that you budget to hire a car. That is how most of us here get around...Using only public transport ,severely limits what you will see or experience. Gabe has only touched the very tip of the iceberg..
