These units aren't even in the same class. Comparing the Roxor to the current UTV’s is like comparing a Chihuahua to a working dog. One is quick, agile, noisy and fun to ‘play’ with and the other will perform its duties with capability and determination. I will never go back to a plastic, ear drum busting, over rev’d, heat producing, rubber band drive unit. My Rhino has 19,000 miles on it and is completely worn out. Just about everything has been fixed or replaced. And I'm tired of having to dismantle plastic to add oil every 250 miles. The Roxor will have that kind of milage and just need a few oil changes. I have one and I love my Roxor, so I am speaking from the experience of having both. I was looking at replacing my Rhino and I was leaning towards the Honda Pioneer, but then I came across the Roxor and I am glad I did before I bought a Pioneer.

I have a Western v-Plow going on and have 2 miles of valley road to push, something I would never do with a plastic unit. I couldn’t afford the cab and heater for those things, way overpriced plastic stuff, over Rev’d, heat producing, rubber band drive just can’t handle in the heat or cold. And I don’t need ear plugs anymore. Tired of the screaming hot noisy engine between the seats and all the plastic. I’ll take a 4 cylinder diesel under a steel hood out front where it should be, with a real drive train. Unless you're in a Yugo, every vehicle has some strong ponts and some weak ones. The Roxor would be more valuable to me because it would be easier repaired or modified in the field. Also, the body is sturdier and the diffs could be upgraded with aftermarket changes. A mild lift and taller tires would add clearance. There's a lot to be said for toughness combined with simplicity.
@clintongross69848 ай бұрын
For sure a little lift and better tires put some lockers in the axles maybe some softer springs and better shocks you're looking at a whole different ride. You've went from outmatched to damn near equal and it was already 10x on quality and durability!!! Oh yeah by the way I don't believe that you ever had to wait for Mahindra to come out with differential lockers because it's a Dana 30 front axle, a Dana 44 rear axle, and even has a Dana transfer case and I believe the 5 speed manual transmission is a Dana as well I'm not sure on the transmission though.

Exactly Roxor is not actually a sxs but Mahindra used the SxS tag to get into North American market it's more like a modern diesel version of Cj (as some comments say) and it's perfect for farmlands
@Noah_E6 жыл бұрын
Just like the biased review that got yall blacklisted by Subaru this one is also incredibly slanted against Mahindra. A "fair" comparison would be against a diesel Polaris Ranger, Kawasaki Mule, or Kubota RTV since they are all diesel powered tools instead of toys. Anyone that intended to use the Roxor like you did would change the tires and add locking diffs which is easy to do considering how close Mahindra stayed to Jeep specs. Warn components are literally plug and play. If you are using it to haul hay bales around a farm it is perfect right off the show room floor and in that situation it absolutely dominates the other two. It tows more and the mechanicals will outlast the others. We have a Ranger XP and it is nothing but squeaks, rattles, and component failure and aren't much cheaper than the Roxor. They can even be optioned up to be more expensive.

I love these types of comparisons, but they always have one fatal flaw.. Tires. You can’t accurately compare suspension systems, drive lines, power, and everything else in the hills, mud, and in the tough stuff if they all have different tires. That’s where everything else comes together and meets the dirt. An entire vehicle can seem inferior just by having a less capable tire. You can always compare numbers, like power, ground clearance etc., but to compare drivability and a vehicles overall performance in similar conditions, they need to all run the same tire.

William Todd Most other SxS have a solid rear axle unless they have a turf mode and a selectable front. I just put a soft cab on it, hitch, d-Rings. I already have the heater in and a snow plow in on it’s way. Somethings cost more but some are cheaper for the Roxor than other SxS. The heater is way less expensive than ones for a Prowler. It all works out in the end and depends what the user wants. I upgraded from a worn out Rhino. This will outlast those types of units for what I do. Fits my needs way better.

idk, the side by sides may be better offroad but the Roxor is sooo much cooler.

Roxor from Mahindra is Gonna look as Good in 5 years, than the futuristic junk 😆

I agree. I'm sick and tired of futuristic designing. Give me simple and rugged designing anyday! It would be nice to see Mahindra vehicles built and sold here in the USA.

@@ctd7731 They are being built in Detroit. Mahindra invested around 250 million dollars for the facility. But it builds Roxor from CKD kits. If it can establish itself as a popular brand it will build everything in USA.

@@varun2250 Thank you for the information! I will definitely research the company more myself. I wish Mahindra great success. These are the type of vehicles the US market have been ignoring. I also like the Suzuki Jimny as a daily driver. It is a shame that Suzuki pulled out of the US market. I have also read that Suzuki will not be able to keep up with the demand for the Jimny! Most people want an inexpensive and dependable vehicle that has a great design. Simplicity in design has been overlooked and replaced with an overkill in technology. I for one want a reliable vehicle that gets me from point a to b and not an I-Phone on wheels! Take care

Mahindra represents the finest of American engineering saved and perfected in its original DNA. Every Mahindra product has a part of Jeep DNA in it which the latest original Jeep has lost out on

I really appreciate you showing the roxor in serious off roading conditions, it needs a lift and desperately needs lockers. And for comparing to a side by side this was a good video. I'll agree that price is a little high. But you also missing the entire point of this vehicle imo. You are comparing apples to oranges. The ride quality sucks yes, but those leaf springs are going to likely survive the entire lifetime of the vehicle. The idea behind many parts of this vehicle are to make it dummy proof and the ultimate in reliability. People who want the roxor, want a jeep cj or willys that is already built for them (mostly) but isn't so expensive. No belt drives, easy to work on, extremely customizable and very compatible with jeep parts. This vehicle isn't for bombing trails in my mind, and thats certainly not what got it on my radar. Its utility, boxed steel frame, solid axles, and turbo diesel engine are why i want this vehicle. I have diesel storage tanks on my farm that i can use to fuel this type of vehicle in an emergency if fuel was not available. The leaf springs likely won't fail, and its no frills build lends it to have the least failure points possible. Granted maybe i'm being harsh too, i don't own a side by side. It just depends on what you're using it for. But don't think that i think your review is bad, because it has much value in showcasing the actual off-road capabilities of the roxor, and to showcase some of the downsides a roxor owner will have to tackle. So thank you for the review.

Really appreciate the even-handed review! Seems as though Roxor might excel as a hybrid farm/work vehicle with some off-road pleasure capability. But if FUN is your primary objective ...maybe not the machine for you. Would LOVE to see a high-miles endurance, practical life-of-vehicle/cost of ownership comparison by someone as straight forward as you appear to have been. Thx again!
