Glassblowers Michael Schunke and Josie Gluck of Vetro Vero demonstrate how to make a tall twisted optic handblown glass tumbler. The optic mold tumbler is a challenging exercise for technical glassblowing enthusiasts. This video shows both efficiency and proficiency, offering close-up views of the hot twist, the jack-line with ridges, and smooth opening of the lip. Maximizing heat and speed, the Goblet Ninja finishes the glass to a perfect cylinder, complete with crisp optics from base-to-lip.
If you are obsessed with glassblowing, you'll want to compare this optic tumbler to the Short Twisty Cup video as well. Note the differences between the two shapes, and the subtle adjustments made to fluidly accomplish both. Take notes, leave comments, ask questions! We're happy to help.
