If my plan was ever to sell used motorcycle parts which to me are priceless i would store them by part and make in a shelter to make it easier for a parts shopper to select and purchase especially now a days where bike builders want to customize or replace parts. The owner has acres of parts but at the same time you have to be careful to not get cut and what about snakes. YES he did have some stuff in a shelter. Prior to you scavenging did he have you sign a document to advise you he wasn't responsible if you get injured?

@@motorcyclerewindI'm a bloody DIY guy. It takes me about 2 - 4 hours to dismount a bike more or less completely (motor in one piece). A professionell probably would need half this time, especially if he concentrates on most valuable parts. And of course less desired bikes could be just sold as scrapp metal. I earned about 1.000 - 3.000 $ from parts each bike, if it is a desired or collectible bike. Average. So seeing masses of bikes just rott away in the woods is absolutely beyond my understanding. But I'm not living in the USA. May be it's different there? Work costs too high and part prices too low?

When I was growing up, our family business was motorcycle sales, service, and most importantly, salvage. Our shop was all indoors so none of the stuff we had got to these states of decay. Seeing this makes me homesick for the old shop and the motorcycle industry as a whole. But this place makes me sick to see so many fantastic bikes just sitting out there, rusting, rotting, and gradually being consumed by nature. I saw a few things in there I'd like to grab! Maybe some day soon 🙂 Thank you for the tour!

The "Little Scooter"@ 5:15 is actually a Czechoslovakian made Jawa 207 "Freewheeler" moped, made somewhere between 1979 and 1985. They are very easy to fix & tune up, as brand new OEM & pattern parts are easy to source from the internet. In eastern Europe, 207 & 210 mopeds are tuned up for track racing. The frame will take the later Jawa 210 1 speed & 2 speed DCT automatic motors. Ironic that this particular Jawa 207 moped started life behind the Iron Curtain, only to end up in a motorcycle graveyard in Bruton, Alabama.

@@motorcyclerewind The ride is like sitting on a bar stool with handlebars. The centre of gravity is on the axle line, allowing for dramatically impressive lean angles, when cornering. I own a 1992 Jawa 210.240 Babetta (2 speed Dual Clutch Transmission automatic gearbox, unrestricted with 40 MPH top speed). It has both kickstart & pedal drive starting options. The Jawa 210 is like a Puch Maxi but superior & faster. Both the 207 & 210 have a set on, throttle activated release choke on the carb. Push the choke button in on the carb to start the cold engine, let it partially warm up enough to ride. Snap the throttle fully open once and the choke will click half off. Snap the throttle fully open again and the choke is fully off. The workshop manuals for the 207 & 210 are free to download, online.

Anyway that's what it seems they were doing back in the day to look harley cool.
