Epic Topwater Fishing At Lake Lanier

In this video I am at Lake Lanier in June fishing for Bass using a Spro E Pop topwater lure. They didn’t want anything to do wit topwater on the Hill Sat. My boater threw a pop-r and I threw a whopper plopper, NOTHING. I ended up finishing 9th, draggin soft plastics

@@chaunceydavis5290 the week before I finish 1st(both on Clarks Hill) & how bout the bait I won off of, they would not touch Sat, SMH. I’m done fishing til the 2-day tournaments. It’s too hot & pleasure boat traffic is crazy. I’ve had one of my best years fishing so far, 4 top 10s. Should have about 5 more tourneys left. Savannah River I’m 2nd in points, I’d LUV to win AOY so that 2-day is crucial for me

Good job Brother, as the weather warms up here so does the topwater. Cool catch by that brush pile. Camera nailed it. I'm fishing a different lake right now and largemouth have been good. Caught a smallmouth hope that continues.

I have a merch store, or had. I haven't checked on it for awhile. I sold a few shirts initially, but not enough to make it worth my while. I may revisit it at some point, but I have to pay someone to design it and I don't make a lot of money.

I fished from sun up until about 10:30, then it got too hot and I had to get some sleep.

Hi Dana. So do largemouth and spotted bass co-mingle, or do they tend to stay in separate areas?

[@FCPFishing]

They do to a certain extent, but each has their own tendencies. Largemouth's tend to stay shallower and prefer the backs of creeks and rivers. Spots tend to prefer more open water. There are exceptions, but the majority of fish stick to their preferred areas. I always catch a Spot or two way back in Largemouth water, and vice versa. Similar to the differences between Smallmouth's and Largemouth's. If I decide to target Largemouth's I can go to certain areas and find them just about every time.

Great video! I have not caught a largemouth on lanier in years. I have no actual evidence for it, but they seem to be less than several years ago.

I have to disagree, there are lots of Largemouths, you just have to target them. I actually think there are more than previous years. I'll be targeting them a lot this summer. Stay tuned...

@@FCPFishing Really happy to hear it and I’d trust you over my own experience of course. My dad many years ago went out with a guide and we learned way back then to just slow retrieve jig tails on an 1/8oz jog head. It’s worked over the years but I’m ready to expand and learn how to get them all year. Have a great week and thanks for the videos!

It definitely was your day for the large mouth. I'm like you, love the top water. Update on my grandson fishing the high school national championship tournament on Lake Hartwell. After 3 days of fishing, placed third. There were a total of 437 boats in the tournament. Very proud. Most fish caught on top water with a fluke and later in day a under spin. Forty eight states represented in the tournament.

Yes it does, but I have so much fun catching Bass and Stripers that I rarely fish for Crappies.

I can't catch anything at lake lanier I've been getting skunked everytime I go recently . I'm a beginner fisherman I mainly use shakey head with finesse green pumpkin worm or some swim baits mainly

Watch my channel and do what I do. Also, I fish mostly on the north end of the lake. Go early and throw a Spro E Pop and you will catch fish.

@@tomhwang32 Location is everything. The south end and the north end have to be fished completely different. Keep at it and good luck!
