I made this whole meal for Christmas this year (replacing the chocolate cake with a quick apple crisp), and it turned out ridiculously, deliciously well. Took me over 3.5 hrs, but it was worth it, especially with good wine - and the leftovers saved me two days' worth of cooking. :) Thank you for all your amazing, imaginative recipes and for your humor and authenticity in these videos. I made the butternut squash recipe last night and it was delicious. I omitted the oil and salt and it was still spectacular. It's definitely a special occasion meal, though, because it took a little over an hour and a half. I recommend doubling the lentil recipe, both because it's delicious and I can easily see using it in other ways, but also because it barely filled up the 3 squash I used, and two of them were quite small. Definitely leave as much of the squash flesh as you can inside (while leaving room for the lentils) because the combo is fantastic. Can't wait to eat the leftovers for lunch. Oh, the tahini/squash sauce is also wonderful. I can also see using that in other places.
@MsZembla4 жыл бұрын
I made double, too, and am glad, because I kept wanting to nibble on the filling while making this dinner. Plus, tthe leftovers are great in tacos, on toast,…or even eaten cold.

I really appreciated this video for helping me to realize how to plan for making a feast for others. Seeing the concepts in action was invaluable as I could see for myself why you came to the conclusion that you should make ahead anything you can to save time (and sanity). Also about how to approach the use of cooking surfaces and ovens when juggling so many foods. I was impressed that you only ran 15 minutes over because I felt that was only because you had to spend so much time explaining to us/the camera. So I think you genuinely would've been under the 3 hour mark if you'd been able to fully focus. I also appreciate that you show us when mistakes are made, because it's a nice reminder that even the professionals goof up. Thanks for the inspiration!
