First two minute instrumental was killer. Simone's vocals wonderful and a very interesting dress. Another masterpiece.

This is my favorite vocal performance from Simone. Whenever I speak to others about Epica and/or Simone, this is always one of my top suggestions for a first listen. Angelic does not do it justice as a descriptor. Also, Isaac's guitar work in this piece is simply beautiful. Isaac can shred with the best of them when the song calls for it, but few can get the raw emotion out of the instrument like he does. Add Coen's gentle piano to the mix and what more can you ask for?!

You are getting to the point of listening to their more complex music. Their Opus Magnum is Kingdom of Heaven Part 3. It will blow you away. Kingdom of Heaven, Part 1 is right there with it. Both of these from the Omega Alive show. Watch the music video of Cry for the Moon as well. It was their very first release. You'll get to see Simone when she was just 19. And of course, more music from the Retrospect show... Unleased and Design Your Universe are incredible. BTW, they will be streaming their 20th-anniversary live show from Amsterdam with orchestra and choir on September 20th. It's only $16.99 to sign up.

I'm late to the symphonic metal game and have only been listening since lockdown. I remember when I first listened to Epica, Simone's voice was startling and a little strange to me. As I have listened more and more, my admiration for her vocal abilities has grown and grown. This song gets inside of you and sets up residence. That voice is unbelievable.

This performance is a perfect example of why we live in such an unfair world! Most pop songs are over by the time Simone starts singing. Name a pop superstar who can sing like Simone. We have just had the Taylor Swift circus visit the UK to unbelievable hype and praise and yet her talent comes nowhere near Simone’s. Others may say that’s an unfair comment but to me it’s so true. Sadly such talent as Epica will get so little exposure because lightweight pop music is pushed so much that today’s youngsters think that that is the maximum level of talent. Your reaction was spot on, this is what Epica and symphonic metal does to you.

10:35 "I can't see her wings.." Well, you're in luck cuz every once in a while.. like when Daniel descends into Transitus, her wings actually become visible. Could this be a thinly veiled Ayreon suggestion? You bet! 👉 "Ayreon - Daniel’s Descent into Transitus Medley (Official Video)" - kzbin.info/www/bejne/pavQhYueZ6h1jdk P.s.: special mention goes to Marcela Bovio and Caroline Westendorp as the dancing & taunting Furies. Hello there! So glad to see that you are feeling better so sorry for your struggles. Great reaction here and a fun one yeah Isaac and his custom seven string Les Paul guitar Make some beautiful sounds I tell you. But intros achingly beautiful as the whole song. This is Epica, what else can one say? This and a song done right next to it in the beautiful a cappella version of Rivers, was a one shot one cameraman take and of course they nailed it. You can tell that Epica like within temptation also, giving them due credit, put a lot of expense and love into their pandemic lockdown streaming concert here for the fans and we respect and love them for it. And yes Simone is an archangel…both beauty and power in her so trained vocals. You have some great other song recommendations here my friend. I see you like Apocalyptica with Epica in Rivers done so beautifully. May I make one clearly outstandingly beautiful recommendation along this line with this time an Apocalyptica song when they were on tour in 2023 with Epica, Siren Simone sang on one of their songs titled Rise Again…London performance. My gawd is it moving and chills.

Great reaction to one of my top 5 Epica songs. Inspired by the dark German fairytale about the Alder King or Erlking who steals the souls of children who linger to long in the woods by killing them with a single touch. The male voice here is the evil enchanter trying to lure the young traveler to his side with promises of power and tender care by his daughters. Simone's voice is so beautiful and the composition by the band is so magical. The song takes me to dark road in a forest late on a fall night with the bare branches of trees silhouetted against the moonlit sky. Simone has said the song is symbolic of being stuck in a life without a happy ending and how our innocence is taken away from us as soon as we are born.

Love the slow build on this song. Yeah, Isaac making that Les Paul sing..🤘🤘. Song is from the 7th album, 2016 's "The Holographic Principle", Lyrics by Simone, music by keyboardist Coen Janssen. Deep and powerful lyrics? You want to listen to one of their oldest songs "Cry For The Moon". Played here at Omega Alive. The entire Omega Alive stream was posted on EPICA's channel about 4 months ago. "Cry For The Moon" starts at 1 hour 19 minutes 28 seconds, and ends at 1 hour 27 minutes 26 seconds, then it transitions directly into "Beyond the Matrix".
