How to wash microfiber towels the easy way for Beginners. I will show how to properly clean microfiber (microfibre) cloths in a simple step by step guide that anyone can follow along to.
Microfiber Towels face tough challenges and although they are essentially delicate they can take a lot of wear and tear but poor cloth cleaning techniques can end up resulting in short term life for them so this video will cover all the topics you need to know.
I cover everything you need to know about how to clean them by hand, Washing machine Temperature, plus rinse cycle and speed.
🛒 my detergent I use (updated 2024) - yumcars.co.uk/product/yum-was...
More tips and tricks for better cloths:
🔴 Don't mix with your clothing or any other fabric or you will end up with lint clinging onto the cloths.
🔴 Don't reuse cloths or towels after ceramic coatings. (not to be confused with Ceramic spray sealants).
🔴 Don't Pressure wash your towels as you may damage the fibres making them less effective at cleaning and polishing.
🔴 Avoid using fabric conditioner and avoid household detergents that may contain scents.
🔵 Organise them into piles such as interior, polishing cloths, wheels etc..
🔵 Add a small shot of vinegar to reduce hard water damage.
The detergent of choice for this video is Valet Pro Microfibre Reviver the one I mainly use. Although I do like to try others too and below i have listed some alternatives available in the UK.
Microfibre Washing detergents I recommend (UK):
Valet pro microfibre reviver - amzn.to/3lHnpGk
Chemical Guys Microfiber Wash cleaning detergent
Auto Finesse Micro Wash
Carpro MFX detergent
Duel Auto Care (Laundry)
Autobrite Direct Clean Towels

Good advice. I tend also to put my dirtier cloths on a quick wash cycle before doing them with the others. A lot of the dirt and contaminants are then removed beforehand. I also use a lower spin speed with them as they're already wet then before the others are added in a new wash. It saves some water & energy in a way. I still have some cloths that I bought 10 years ago. Okay, they're not front line any more, but still have a use! Take care and keep the content coming ☺

I have another step I use occasionally, which is soak them in vinegar solution. I do this after hand washing in water and before putting them in the washing machine. It removes some of the more stubborn oils and restores absorbency for water, especially after using them to apply wax/polish. It also helps in case you accidentally used fabric softener, which happened to me several times.

As always, it’s very interesting to watch your ideas and tips. My method is to use a pure soap product like ‘Fairy’ liquid washing soap (Because of the additives avoid using a biological soap or Bold which contains a conditioner) and avoid powder or sachet products as these do not always dissolve properly at low temperature. Using Fairy or a supermarket own brand product is a bit cheaper than using a dedicated micro fibre soap and works just as well. I NEVER, EVER, use a conditioner as this damages the pile and stops the towels working properly (absorbency) and has the potential to cause streaking on glass and paintwork. Incidentally never use conditioner on your teams replica football shirt or other tops that are designed to wick perspiration as conditioner effects their functionality too.

Genius, that is what i do. Another tip for you, if it is a nice sunny day with no or very little wind, hang then out to dry and use a blower that you use for drying your car to start them drying, it helps fluff them up. I bought one on ebay, just a small portable rechargeable one, was cheap and works well for car and drying micro-fibre towels.

Microfiber become stiff even thanks to limestone. Giving a good spinning cycle eliminate moste of the water, observe your machine. At this speed the cloth is just attached to the washing machine chest, there's more stress rubbing it with your hands. For drying towels a good bath in an acid like vinegard can remove limestone effectively. Always make them tumble dry with these spicky balls to make them electrostatic again. Leaving them to dry naturally attracts dust and doesn't make the fluffy again...

Meh ... that's a lot of money to spend on 1 bundle for each area/surface on the car. Geez. Car detailing business is really massive in terms of expenses (water-use, car washing products, car shining liquids, tools, machines etc.) I'm probably starting a company in Denmark, but Denmark is quite a harsh environment to build a company due to our high taxes, VAT and other fees n' expenses to the state + carbon dioxide financial accounting. We drown if freakin' loads of paperwork before we have a penny for ourselves. This really makes me wonder if car detailing industry is something I can or want to do - even though I love doing it 😔 Thanks for all your work in terms of putting out informations to us - appreciated a lot!

What about pads? I throw them in the washing machine as well together with my other clothes, but they always come out with a different color than they were used to be (they mostly turn black after the first wash). Are they still okay to use then?

Great content, I use a cap full of surfex hd in warm water to help break down any dirt and greese lurking in the cloths,I let them sit for half an hour then put them on a 30 degree wash, followed by 10 mins in the dryer on a low heat, this gives them their softness back then maiden or washing line. I always start of with the least contaminated clothes first like glass clothes then I'll use the same water for my interior . I'll do completely separate soaks and washes for my polish and waxing clothes. One thing I have found that help is if my clothes are stained when I'm soaking them in a bucket I'll drop a scoop of pink stuff stain remover into the water first and dissolve .this works a treat.
