I wish I had started skating earlier like everyone around my age....i started about 1989 and didn't learn anything for a year before I popped an Ollie...so I was always a few yrs behind everyone and never could keep up...by the time I started to get ok in 1994-1996 ...things were just getting way hard and I remember giving up @ 1997 ...I wish I never quit...I started back in 2012,,,and having a lot of fun just skating for fun....its amazing to see how good people are now days...with out the 90s...there wouldn't be such kind of skating

I also started in 89. Behind all my friends in progress but in 91 to 92 it clicked and I got really good, if I can blow my own trumpet. I didn't take it serious enough but u many didn't back then. A career wasn't on radar like might be today. Drink drugs injury take toll and finally forced to quit in early 2000s. Destroyed back discs x 3. Didn't fully appreciate how much skating was the glue that held me together. Took a toll mentally. Look after yourself any youngsters reading this. Take your physical health seriously or pay later in life.

Ha! Benicia, I lived there before moving to S.F. Mike's talking about Mike and Jason Schwartz- ya Benicia had a vibe. :) I remember some of that shit- I had beef with M.Schwarts, but we got it straight. Met Julian and Wade Speyer at that park. (Saw Julian the Mt. Shasta skatepark about 2.5 years ago- early one morning and we figured it'd been about 22years.) Mike and Jason would kick me a little flow from Santa Cruz- ya that's where I had a concussion and actually, Jason S. and his mom found me passed out at the park and took me home. Crazy seeing some of these interviews and having some connection all these years later. Respect Homies- from ATX. *A.

lol you need to watch The Chocolate Tour It's weird that video doesn't seem that long ago, I sort of missed the 2000-2010 era of skateboarding so you watch all these wicked docs but then see stuff like street league and think bloody hell when did people learn to land absolutely anything lol
