Points that i have observed over many articles are that figures that cast shadows or 3d objects are haram, but 2d paper drawings are not, secondly the intention of making should not be of worship or in a way to nauzubillah competeing with Allah. Drawings should not depict nudity or inappropriate elements. A drawing should not be exhalted to a status that is glorified

I've been drawing since I was a kid and I recently found out about this and its very distressing. when he said some people are naturally inclined to drawing that struck a cord with me. I use drawing and painting as an emotional outlet and mountains and trees dont express my emotions the same way an animal or a person does. I've been trying to stop drawing people but its like an addiction, its so difficult. I become sad and irritated because the way I vent or express myself has been taken away from me. I dont know what to do. this feels like a punishment. my intention is NEVER shirk when I draw but I dont want to go to hell... I dont know.
@HH-ep3dg2 жыл бұрын
While the Imam's perspective is that it's not allowed, he actually brought up the fact that there's no consensus on the matter since one of the four schools of thought felt that, based on all the Hadith he narrated, even the one you just mentioned, it's not a sin to draw pictures, it's just crafting actual solid images of living things which is forbidden. (Kid's toys are A-OK, it should go without saying. From what I know, digital sculpting in 3D/CGI is the same as flat art since it's all data at the end of the day. Still, you may notice my profile pic is from Shaun the Sheep, and I can only wonder what's the Islamic perspective on that...) Yasir Qadhi mentions that we often hear one perspective online, so I appreciate him for teaching us about the early Muslims' owning and permitting pictures when we're often warned about them. Since this is qualified scholarship, knowing this now was a great relief for me, and I hope you feel the same. In any case, Allah knows best. I hope Allah forgives and accepts us all. (I think my comments kept deleting for spam because I included a link to Egypt's Dar al Ifta on the permissibility of drawing pictures as we're the opinions of some of the early Muslim authorities. It's brief but you can look at that too. Sorry if you're seeing this multiple times.)

A very comprehensive lecture What impressed me the most is the beginning where the reference to Surat Saba hints at the “tamsal “ So rest of the lecture was entirely based on Hadees Which means that the Quran does not explicitly forbid all this Secondly some of the reasons of hatred for icons is because they had to be eradicated because they were worshipped at that time instead of worshiping one Allah Very understandable Islam was not for that time period It is there for the rest of human existence on earth So with the changing environment we need to adjust with it Obviously keeping the basic major principles of our deen absolutely strong In today’s world images cannot be avoided I so much like what he said at the end to avoid bad images which are so easily available these days So an image or a sculpture which is not used as an object of worship should not shake our deen Subhan Allah our deen has many many more salient features which give us strength and guide us through our journey in life May we Adher to them and stay at the right path Ameen

I am finding these discourses of extreme help in understanding Islam. I come from a Christian background and spent my adolescence reading and researching other beliefs. Coming from Leicester (UK) my childhood was spent surrounded by various cultures which I found fascinating. I turned away from the Church due to questioning the doctrines and not being comfortable with the responses. Then in my mid twenties I discovered The Baha’i Faith and my soul rejoiced. I am 65 now and delving more deeply into varying Belief systems as I see they all lead to one Truth. My personal understanding is that all beliefs are steps in a journey towards one’s own Soul and towards God.

Wow, why would something be haram for me when it was not haram for Prophet Salesman? If he had "tamatheel (statues)" made for him to decorate his castle/s, why can't a common man like myself have the same statues prepared for my home? After all, Prophet Sulayman did not "worship" his statues. In other words, Prophet Sulsyman had "tamatheel (statues for decoration, not the "asnaam (staues for worship)" that were worshipped. Note that Prophet Ibraheem did not destroy the "tamatheel" in the mushrik community of the worship place, what he destroyed were the "asnaam". Let's put on a thinking cap and consider the first hadith in Bukhari which says that our actions are dictated by our intentions. That being the case, if I draw a human being or make a statue of him, and my intention is not to worship him (as was the case with Prophet Sulayman), then I do not see any problem at all. I mean the whole issue is very simple: if you make images of any sort to worship them, you are destined fir Hell. But if you are making images for sake or just for a hobby, I see no problem. Now,what would the ulema say about Dolly the sheep? Was that sheep created to worship....or to create proof of concept. Isn't "insaan" the "khaliq" of Dolly the sheep? If you are confused and feel ready to say "astaghfirullah!", the think about Allah Who is "Ahsanul Khaliqeen (the best of creators)". Thus, a man can be a creator of anything, but the "best of creators".

@jaleelaxd12 күн бұрын
That is correct. Words of the holy Quran never change, but when it comes to the Hadith, (note this was made 200 years after the prophet's (SAW) death), intentions may have changed. There are very few videos out there that talk about this matter and explain how people used to worship images in the past, so it's no wonder why it was discouraging to draw pictures of animate beings. I draw them, but it's not Haram, because of the intent, as long as it is not used for worship.... But Allah SWT knows best!

blind following is same as worship in Eslaum. So if you follow these "sheikhs" on TheyTube and TV who tell you images are forbidden then you are not even a Mosslem because it was never forbidden in Eslaum and the Goraun/Koran says prophet Suleiman made statues and Eesa/Jesus was also an artist and made birds out of clay, and we know in Eslaum prophet Mohammad family had images like dolls and animal toys. Jews say that Suleiman/Solomon became a disbeliever/kafer, Jews say Jesus was fake and evil, Jews say Mohammad was fake and evil, the fake Bible forbids making images, its not the Mosslems and Allauh. These sheikhs are YAHUDIS, Kabbalist Jews, monafegeen, posing as moslems just like Saudi kingdom and government of Iran and Erdogan, etc. There are no sheikhs in Eslaum. No rabbis and laymen, no stupid followers without knowledge who must follow the rabbis who have the knowledge supposedly, thats Judaism. Islam with a moon symbol on TV is fake. Wake up and covert to original Eslaum, follow your heart, follow the Goraun and original sonnah which never contradicts the Goraun and fear nothing except to become bad. Real Mosslems are "terrorists", they are not allowed to become popular on the internet, not brought on TV to speak, they are not even allowed to have a mosque. Wake up, man.

@@smarties5624 i recently ask a friend who happen who learned deeply about islam. he said that most of art (save for ornamental + poetry) actually forbidden with these reasoning : -music : the rule explanation is there hadith that put music in league with alcohol and zina, meaning that it just as bad. the logical explanation, music identic with party and 'fun', which usually in that moment people dont think about allah. he said there misinterpretation that some scholar allow music due long ago prophet muhammad SAW allow a girl to play her rabbana when he moved in to madinna (but that coz the girl was made a nazaar to do so) -drawing : the rule explanation is that allah hate it so much that he at judgment day will punish painter (and sculptor), force em to bring their creation to life (which they couldnt), then allah will turn these creation to life to torture their creator. the logical explanation that long ago artist tend to be arrogant so much creating something make them believe they were god equal or treat their creation as god itself. there also tendency to make a creation based on public figure of their time that due to how influental they were, after their passing that creation were worshipped

@@satyayana1399 thank you for your answer. I have a question about the second part. You said that long ago people were worshipping these paintings and artists were predending to be god. If i dont paint with that intention will it be halal? Because i dont paint and pray to these pictures or think im god. In fact i do the opposite i even try to become loose enough so that i will be able to destroy my pictures because it has no real value and i thank allah for creating these beautiful ideas in my head. If i think like that which i do is it halal? I don't think allah will punish me with hell for painting. Allah is the just god, oftentimes we dont see why something is wrong until later but painting is really difficult. Like you said, back then people prayed to these things but nowadays its not like that and i dont do it with this intention. So is it halal now?

blind following is same as worship in Eslaum.

I am sorry! but I have to ask this question. Why is it allowed to own a picture like a drawing on a rug or pillow and the owner isn't a sinner while the person who made is going to hell (a cursed being in a way)? Somebody has to make the image for others to own it right. Also, it's pretty much similar to buying things from a thief it's haram, is it not. I think it's unfair! just my opinion. even to embroid a bird on a rug you have to hand draw it first, so... one does sin to survive because others want it and are willing to help them pay for their food. But then the one who enjoys the stained product isn't held accountable. I am sorry if my opinion goes beyond the rulings of Islam.
@jamrah87132 жыл бұрын
Because the rub or a pillow is something that will be degraded so it’s not seen as something that can be worshipped. To be honest the same thing can be applied to drawings on a computer and on paper. The prophet only got annoyed by images when they casted a shadow and were reverred as per hadiths by our mother Ayisha (RA) when he tore down a curtain. When he was talking about “the image makers” in the Hadith about “the image maker will be asked to put a soul into it” it is mainly referring to status and 3D imagery (one’s that cast a shadow) according to the Maliki school and some shafi scholars, and not ones that are on a plain surface (to my recollection). This position to me makes the most sense but do your own research. I have for a while and personally came to the conclusion that 2D isn’t haram at all but 3D definitely is

If drawing faces is haram then photographing a face must be. It's hypocrisy to say otherwise. Some people worship the photos of pop stars and sports people so why condemn sketches of faces and not photos?

One doubt. How can one person own the paintings and drawings on pillow covers or coins without other person is creating. I didn't understand creating is haram but owning is not, but how can one own it when no one creates it
@banant56202 жыл бұрын
I have the same confusion with you. There will be supplies if there are demands. So owning images can indirectly cause more people to create images. Which can be translated to encouraging to create images.

I think it's not problematic if the muslim didn't create that image so owning it is fine if you're not using it for shirk & Allah knows best It's still confusing considering the sheikh mentioned the umayyad caliph created the coin with his image on it & the sahabah had no issue with that back then
@jamrah87132 жыл бұрын
This inconsistency is exactly why I follow the Maliki position on images. The ruling against them makes little logical sense in our current day and age, especially when you consider the prophets Hadith about images were in the time when idolatry was still prevalent. I think the other schools need to revise it with modern context personally.
@maganhassan26272 жыл бұрын
@@jamrah8713 idolatry is still happening now lol so I understand why the rulings exist & why the prophet (peace be upon him) was concerned over this however I think it's hard to follow & somewhat more confusing when applying this to today you see?

You say Aisha had bought a curtain yet in another hadith that I read and in which Zakir Naik himself quoted it states that Aisha had bought a cushion for the prophet to recline on and in response the prophet had look of disgust on his face and stood out in the door way as opposed to him tearing down a curtain in this hadith it says that Aisha asked what she did wrong and the prophet pointed out that the cushions had suras on them and he said who ever made these suras would be punished on qiyama. So what happens now to the notion that cushions or rugs are ok when clesrly this hadith is saying the prophet dissapproved of even cushions with images? That being said, the hadith ends by pointing out that she had split them into two cushions for him recline on just as mentioned in the other hadith. My question is which hadith is telling the actual story it appears they are different and contradict yet similar in some ways. I mean Its unlikely that Aisha would repeat an offense so it should be talking about the same incident right? Why so different though? Also another question I have is why would Allah punish someone for making an image when there intention wasnt necessarily to compete with Allah's greatness? What if they did it rather as a means of admiring Allah's creation or just for fun? I don't know of anyone who paints as an act of rebellion to challenge God's creative ability. Only a psycho would do that.

IMHO, it comes down to how pure and desperate you are to withhold the touheed of Islam. If you go in the world of fatwa, you'll get ease and find rulings where your opinion seem to tilt, but going in the world of taqwa makes you stay away from something which has even a modicum of doubt if being haram, for the sake of love and fear of Allah SWT. Example, your friend's earnings are from crypto. Predominant fatwa is (to the best of my knowledge) you can accept a food and party from his earnings, but your taqwa will tell you to avoid it at all costs for the sake of Allah SWT. Being cautious of not being Haughty and feeling more self righteous than the other, humbly staying away and avoiding is what taqwa will make you do. These are examples and points which can be extrapolated to any mas'ala where you have doubt.

I understand about the fact that on the day of judgement the creators will be asked to bring these to life, I'm not exactly sure how to word this but, since I'm aware of the sin and have let go, is it still, like going to happen on the day of judgment, since I myself have drawn a lot of different people/animals but now I am aware of the sin and will no longer do it anymore and move on to landscape drawings instead

My common sense tells me that the difference between owning and making sounds almost hypocritical. I'm sorry but I grew up in the West where toys and collectibles are common, never once did it come to my mind to venerate them. I still have childhood toys because I'm attached to them, but somehow this was fine as a kid but not as an adult even though the feeling is largely the same. If we say that making images is sinful, but owning is not so we are allowed to buy them, that sounds stupid because that means someone else will be punished because we really wanted that cute rug with the bird on it.

I am coming to a conclusion that as long as we will continue to base Islam on stories related to Prophet Muhammad PBUH by people, which are called Ahadith, we will continue to have confusion and contradictions in our religion. We must concentrate on Quran for guidance and accept only those Ahadith which are in line with Quran. Unfortunately, it has become the other way around. The other problem is that we have given the scholars of the earlier times the status of prophets in the way that nobody can differ with their opinions. They were just scholars like the scholars who came after them. So they should be treated like scholars and not prophets. They were prone to making mistakes and they did make lot of mistakes. It's totally ok to challenge their opinions with knowledge and arguments.
@gasserhegazy1267 Жыл бұрын
Scholars back then differed in opinion. And I'm pretty sure the earliest scholars like in 1st second and 3d generation after prophet understand hadith way more then us because they are closer to the context of the prophet peace be upon him, I'd that makes sense.
