@@creationanomaly6026 She does. Her name is Hong Thaimee. She has a KZbin channel under that name, and she does a podcast with Pailin Chongchitnant, another very amazing Thai chef on KZbin who cooks authentic, easy to follow Thai recipes (that’s how I discovered chef Hong, actually!). She also seems to have a website, too.😊

Thai Northern cuisine is the most complex and secretive among Thai food. Family recipe are often kept secret. Many recipes usually require rare spices and stinky condiment like rotten soybean, specific kind of flowers, etc. Even chilli powder hits different in Chiang Mai. Not many outsider can cook like the local. Epicurious fans are so lucky to have Khun Hong revealed her authentic recipe.
@kermitfrog593 Жыл бұрын
This must be authentic because it's a very complicated dish. Is it worth it to buy all those ingredients and go through all those steps if you only occasionally eat Thai food? Why not just go to a restaurant.
@larrymats Жыл бұрын
Agreed. Northern cuisine requires variety of ingredients and each place has their own recipe based on what herbs they can find

It's so exciting to me to see how popular thai cuisine has become in the u.s. 10 years ago when I began my journey in a kitchen with Thai people, I was amazed at the recipes and how not many people.were raving Over it like sushi or Chinese food. Their homestyle recipes are to die for.

Did the Mae Hong Son loop on motorbike a few years ago. Rode from Chiang Mai up over Don Inthanon, stayed in many amazing small towns like Mae Chaem along the way. One of my best memories is of this incredible dish, Khao Soi. I've struggled to find anything that tastes anywhere near as good. Easily my favourite dish.

Our addiction to soup as well as love for curry made the exchange between India and China within northern Thailand birth this dish with our lovley fruits. Truly an amalgamation of all the best cuisines.

So glad that this channel chose Thai to teach Thai food. It's so important because Thais are extream serious about food recipes. e.g. We can't except Pad Kra Pow with basil. It must be holybasil only. Thai food use herbs a lot for aroma so if you put some herbs wrong, it might affect aroma and taste.

Whenever my foreign friends visit Chiang Mai, I bring them to a Khao Soi place. The gesture of squeezing a piece of fresh lime into the bowl is like an exotic ritual to them and the citrus aroma just enlivens the senses. Of course... fried noodle on top of noodle is the mix of fun texture they never experienced. The curry itself is full of aroma from both fresh and heated herbs. It is tasty, creamy, sweet and salty with the pungent from fresh shallot and add-on chilli oil. Thank you that you put pickles!😊 Kao Soi would not be completed with pickles. Although my friends could not speak Thai, they all can remember the name of this dish, and next time they visit Chiang Mai? Of couse, they all asked for Kao Soi. Thanks for such a detailed video. It's really fun to watch.❤

Ate Khao Soi on our trip to Chang Mai for the first time at a Thai home that had their garage converted into a restaurant. Our elephant sanctuary tour guide that we befriended took us there, to a few temples, and of course, to drink Thai rum. Amazing food and even better company. I wish I could go back again soon.
