People are failing to consider that even with 20 dollars, one can make more fried rice than would cost 20 dollars in any establishment. Certain seasoning costs are also included, which don't need to be repeatedly purchased to make more fried rice.
@itsgoingtobeok-justbreathe48084 күн бұрын
yeah, that's just clickbait. What they should do if they were to be honest is say the cost for a dish serving 4 or cost per serving. Like if you buy a $30 rare spice but only use a pinch and can use it 29 more times, the cost should be $1, not 30 in the tally
@rommanahmed63153 күн бұрын
@@itsgoingtobeok-justbreathe4808 yeah its a bit annoying. same with the chef's recipe. he's not using the entire bottle of bourbon for one fried rice
@BrbzhКүн бұрын
@@itsgoingtobeok-justbreathe4808 i think that its supposed to be the ingredients cost, not the value of the dish itself, so if you had nothing on you, you’d have to pay said amount to make said dish as you cant buy a pinch of salt.

The idea of a $300 fried rice is quite interesting, given that fried rice is a dish to use up leftovers and whatever is on hand, very cheaply while providing as much sustenance as possible. It's very similar to the concepts of various types of rice and bean dishes, to cabbage and potato or noodle dishes such as haluski, colcannon or coddle, to stretching meat with bread as in meatloaf, or to goulashes and stews such as mulligan or hoover. I guess it's nice to be able to afford to try to make the cheapest, simplest things with the greatest ingredients--and it's also marvelous to use simple inexpensive ingredients to their maximum potential.

1:22 Why did the same amount of garlic cost *five times as much*, though?!* How does Kerrygold butter cost 30% more than the highest price I've ever seen it at, too? I get making an expensive list for the nature of the video, but the jacked-up prices on so many items so often feels disingenuous rather than just misleading. 🤔🤔🤔
@cyberpunkcentral85004 күн бұрын
The only “pricey garlic” I’ve ever found is either Elephant garlic or pre-peeled organic; is that what they used? Ramps are garlic-adjacent (as are garlic chives) and usually slightly to somewhat more expensive, but they didn’t use those I don’t get it either. Name brand special imported butter? Sure, that’s always more expensive GARLIC in the same amount? Unless it was one of those variations I listed, I don’t see why either. p.s. I always pause on the ingredients lists, too! 💯💰
@Greydawg4 күн бұрын
@@cyberpunkcentral8500 It looked like identical garlic rather than elephant or specialty garlic (albeit I'm also not sure why they needed two bulbs for a few cloves, either).
