My very first decent electric guitar was an original 1966 Epiphone Wilshire with mini humbuckers. It had a set neck and a very thin solid mahogany body. "Batwing" headstock. Mine broke at the neck joint twice while I owned it. Besides that, when it was fixed, that guitar had the most incredible feel and sounds. It sounded very much like Page's Telecaster on the first Zeppelin album thru my Randall solid state amp!

Caloss2 Gaming Mathematically that is untrue.. We all know a day is a day , a 24 hour period.. The younger we are the faster we age and as we get older we age slower and slower....A newborn baby one day old , come back the next day and the baby is two days old..It has literally doubled it's age overnight..A ten year old sibling in the house in the same 24 hour period has aged 1/3650 while the baby doubled it's age

@@leehodge2415 I don't talk to myself.. I typed it sober in reply to the "as we age we experience time faster" comment and it does seem that way. I get it that my comment has nothing to do with time passing faster as we age but mathematically based on percentages says we absolutely age slower as our age progresses.. Citing that a one day old baby will DOUBLE it's age in just the next 24 hours and a 10 year old would take ten years to double it's age and is exponentially slowing down with age as is the baby's aging process.. You won't grasp it if you have problems with percentages..Otherwise you're just a Troll..lol

Nice job! I’ve got an old glittery Aria guitar with a funny shaped body that has the same neck fixing arrangement. Like your guitar the neck extends into the pickup cavity and needs different screw lengths. The idea seems to work well and with the tight neck socket the guitar sounds and feels like a set neck instrument.

@Malchik Blue Not sure exactly but is was following the "lawsuit years" (not actually lawsuits but rather desist letters) Gibson marketing decided to 'cut the ears off' Epiphone electric guitars. At the same time they turned the 'open book' headstock into 'camel humps' on Epi acoustics. It may have been following their own 'advice' or to distance themselves from their daughter brand.

The original Epiphone company did not make any solid-body guitars. Gibson invented this model and made them at the Gibson factory in Kalamazoo, with a set neck. On the Gibson originals, the neck and body were made of mahogany on the same line that made the SG models, but the original pickups on the Wilshire were mini-humbuckers, a pickup that Gibson invented to fit the pickup surrounds of actual Epiphone guitars. These Japanese contraptions were, of course, not made by Gibson, but by some contract company in J-pan.

schaller sigma should be a drop in replacement for a gibson wraparound spec bridge, and that has adjustable saddles, what i have done in the past for chewed up necks like this one, is put in the threaded inserts after dowling the neck and letting that glue dry, then use bolts to attach the neck, the length of the screws is not really an issue then as long as the threads can bite into the inserts.

When testing fret height for neck straightness, why do you put a capo at the first fret?
@senoramoeba
@senoramoeba Жыл бұрын
Measuring neck relief. The capo simply frets the strings at the 1st fret. If you don't, the tiny difference of height at the nut will screw up the measurement. With the guitar in playing position (because gravity will also screw up the reading), fret the last fret of the low E string and use a feeler gauge to measure the clearance from the bottom of the string to the top of the fret closest to the midpoint. Ten thousandths of an inch is a generally desirable result but it can range from almost flat to over twenty thousandths depending upon player preference.
