Just bought a 70s made in Japan et-290 in ebony for like 550$ great deal. If you wait long enough they come up but yeah I agree you don’t see them too often on the used market.

I have a question that I am sure everyone can answer including me, I used to use super slinkys on all my guitars but a few yrs ago I was finding that I could NOT put a set on without the high E and sometimes the B string breaking and this was multiple guitars I went ahead and hit tuners, bridge saddles with a little file and lubed up the nut slots but they still broke. Does anyone else have a story similar? Have not had any issues with other brands

Depending on where the strings break, you can usually pin down there the problem is. That is if there is a consistency to it. But if you tried changing and filing the bridge, tuners and nut, I would have tried a fret leveling and recrowning. Apart from that I would think it could be if your playing style got more heavy handed or maybe your sweat got more corrosive.

Ive got a dozen guitars and have been playing 20 years. I could count broken strings ive had in my lifetime on one hand. And most of those were because i was bending extremely hard
