i never played this game, but i recently lost my pets.. and they were my only friends and family.. i connect to this song. since i was 14 years old i've been listening to Erutan, she's my go to comfort whenever things go wrong. and now i'm celebrating my 26th birthday without my pets and Erutan is STILL and always be my go to place of comfort. Came back to visit this old favorite and saw your comment. I'm so sorry to hear of your loss. A bit of unrequested advice; as you move forward and heal, think of your next pets as the successors and inheritors of your pets' legacies. It helped me remind myself I wasn't replacing the previous pet and also reminded me the new pet is a new personality and their own dog (in my case). I've taught her a few things her predecessor knew and she's learned things her predecessor never did. She's a different dog, but she is a most worthy successor to inherit the leash. I don't miss my prior dog so much now as I regret she and the new dog didn't get to share time together and I know they would have loved playing together. Best wishes and prayers you heal from the grief.

My father has passed away a couple of weeks ago. About 10 minutes before he did, and I realized that there is nothing more I can do, I sat by his piano in the next room and played for him, hoping that hearing me play on his old piano would be the best comfort I can give to him at that moment. The only tune that came to my fingers at that time was To my dear friends by Yasunori Mitsuda. I played it and came back to the room and a few minutes later he passed away peacefully in my arms. I stayed strong through the funeral, trying to be useful, support my mother and made sure all the arrangements were made in place. Now as I sit and listen to this, i can finally let my emotions out. Thank you so much for this beautiful version of one of my favorite musical pieces of all time. This song will forever be engraved in my heart as a memory of my father, and your version will always be kept on my hard drive (or whatever replaces them in the future) for the rest of my life.

I think, of all the songs you've made, this one is easily my favorite. I've come back to it repeatedly over the years. It hits a very deep and nostalgic part of me... not even because of Chrono Trigger or anything, I still haven't actually gotten far in the game, and believe me, I've tried. I always hated lyrical interpretations of instrumental music, specially on OSTs. This videos is an exception. I played Chrono Trigger when I was 13. I used emulators to play it and I was really really happy back then, laughing about everything. I'm 22, now, with a job and a family to take care of and almost 10 years later, I don't laugh that much anymore. Games doesn't seem that much of a fun. However, remembering this game, remembering how it feels to save the world from Lavos made me smile like I was a child. Thank you!

I recently did a playthrough of CT for the first time since I was... well, a lot younger! It also spurred me on to buy Chrono Cross, which I'd been putting off for ages. Between Trigger and Cross, I spent a good few months completely entranced in the Chrono universe again and had a new appreciation for all of it - especially the soundtracks! I have played this game on every port, and my love for it has never diminished. Hearing this song, I can't help smile sadly, remembering how easy it was to see into a characters motives for what they did. I hear this song, and I remember Magus' quest to save his sister.
