Quick comment to express how much I appreciate your podcast! I'm listening to all of it, in order, and episode 16 is where I'm at currently. You have impeccable presentation and virtuose speaking skills: never a dull moment. You choose brilliant examples; you understand everything you present to impressive depths; you seem to be constantly in control of what you speak about; you make it all seem easy and simple, when in truth it is highly complex and rich. You are truly brilliant. You make philosophy absolutely fascinating and I cannot wait to get through all of your episodes! Terrific work you are doing. You are one teacher to reckon with. I am not fooled by your humble ways (which are appreciated, however): you are marvel of the Internet. Thank you ever so much for all that you have done and are doing. You are an absolute treasure.

After watching 'What the bleep do we know?' was kinda my moment, where peels fell off my eyes and I realised I knew nothing. I felt like John Snow.❤ Thanks for the value.

The last Q seems paradoxical; The self to needs know good to understand bad and hence, need to know bad to grasp what is good all so we can understand what what is mediocre to get by. Hence it continues to snowball 🤯

For me the moment I knew was not a moment and more an gradual understanding that the adults around for me pretended to know without a good reason of knowing how the world and the universe works. I am now an atheist longer than I was a Christian, but that is because the claims of any God existing with any influence on the universe in this cycle after the Big bang lacks any evidence. Therefore the default assumption should not be that there is a God but that there is nothing no reason no "higher purpose" for any of us or for the universe. We're just here. Well yes they're technically could be a god that has left, there's no reason to believe in an invisible object existing with no proof.

Once I discovered that I know nothing but a percentage of a fraction of human knowledge, I knew I had become a man. I was 17 years old and began studying Buddhist philosophy and Western logic

I was raised in a creationist household. One time, I went to the zoo, and an ape was playing with a piece of straw, that's it, just him leaning his ba ck against the glass playing with a piece of straw. But I saw so much of myself in him. It woke me up to the fact that there aren't humans and animals, there are only animals.

Why does one have to know the truth in order to be devout? Doesn't Christianity call people to have faith in God even though they can't prove He exists? John 20:29: "Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed."
