Jean, I just returned from a holiday week in Cancun, Mexico. Had a wonderful time! Now I am ready to quilt. LOL You are my favourite teacher. I love the repetition because my brain is slowing down, so I need you. You make it all look so easy, but when I sew, it is not. I quilted 3 quilts since I began watching you. So there, whoever you are, who disapproves of Jean’s technique. We are a special crop of quilters. Thanks so much Jean for the time you put into this channel. We all appreciate you!

OMG Jean you are the best teacher. You don’t leave anything to chance. You explain everything so clearly. This quilt is beautiful. I sometimes see a particular quilt being made by someone else and what I do is get the name of the design. With the name of the design I automatically go to your site to learn how to make it because you t teach so well. God bless you and thank you for everything I have learned from you thru the years.

Hi Jean from all the way from the land down under!!!! You know I have always wanted to make a Bargello quilt but quite often I find the instructions, particularly for the more intricate designs, rather confusing. From what I have seen from your Bargello tutorials, it has definitely given me that much needed AH HA moment, and now I get it it. So thank you so very much. finally understand the Bargello process. Just a side note, first day of Home Economics the teacher tells us, "if you sew your finger do not yank your hand out until we raise the needle out of it". We were horrified and you can guess what everyone was thinking as they sewed. To this day 45 years later everyone says that is the first thing they think of when sewing.

And you just plagiarize away!! We all benefit from it because you pass along such fantastic hints and tips. Your bargello is absolutely beautiful!! I'm amazed at how tidy the back is. Iron, Iron, Iron, huh? I know how you ironed (pressed) it when you were first putting your strips together, but did you press the seams all in one direction on your "finished" product? Looks like it.

Did I ever mention that you should IRON well!??!!? LOL! I DID press all the seams in the top half all one way.....and also in the bottom half the identical way....but I SHOULD have, maybe, pressed the bottom seams the OTHER WAY, just so that the attaching the top and bottom halves would have nested a bit better. But I used pins and it's fine....Whatever! :) LOL!

I love the feel of the quilt on my lap and like the fact that, even though I have to wrestle with it, that I can create my own free motion quilting designs. However, the fact that you can quilt a quilt in SUCH LITTLE time.....well maybe I will have a re-think :)

It's stunning! Now, if I were to use one 42 strip jelly roll would I work with my 2 strip sets side by side (like your top two) or would they be attached as a top and a bottom?
@jeantruelovetruelovequiltsfory6 жыл бұрын
Let me see.....oh, you are asking me Math!!! :/ But I will try....If you put your strip sets side by side (in the approximate way I've constructed mine), your 'quilt' would finish at about 60" x 40" - but your design (if looked at up and down) would appear to be from 'side to side' rather than up and down. If you constructed both sets top and bottom, made the way I did, your 'quilt' would finish about 30" x 78", but your design would read up and down ~ but it would be a long narrow quilt. Perhaps just 20 or 25 strips, then the rest could be used as a border?!?! Hope this helps! I don't really know if it will! LOL!

Hi Jean. Really hoping you get this message. I bought the cutest fabric that has kangaroos and crocodiles and koloa bears on it. Baby style. My issue is not sure what to do with it. Each baby animal has a outline around it. Kinda a square around it but parts aren't completely squared off you you understand me. What style or type of quilt could I make. I'm so stuck. Cute fabric for babies.
@jeantruelovetruelovequiltsfory5 жыл бұрын
Hi Bonny! I envision a simple 'patch' block type quilt ~ highlighting the lovely novelty figures (cut out as square as possible~or even putting on small borders to 'square' each one up) and then simple coordinating squares ~ pulling colors from the animal prints (but let the animals be the focal ~ not too many other busy prints). A pretty outside border and Baby will be thrilled! LOL!
@bonnyhobal23295 жыл бұрын
Thank you Jean! I understand what your saying. You think it would be ok like that..part of the animal would be gone. Example part of the crocodiles tail or the kangaroos ear.lol Jeez I wished I could show you this fabric. So so so cute. I actually went through tons of videos and the closet was an attic window which would kinda work. I dont know. Lol.
@jeantruelovetruelovequiltsfory5 жыл бұрын
Sometimes you have to be careful with attic windows quilts....you can get the odd 'ear' or leg' showing in the next window, detached from whence it came!! LOL! It usually looks okay though even saying.....but I think you are correct ~ attic windows is probably the way to go!

Yes, that is exactly what I am doing. Being VERY careful to place the top strip I've cut to another safe place and so on, keeping the order exactly the same. @@mukwah1111 AH! Just remember, if you put your strips safely down and place one on top of the other, remember to TURN THE PILE OVER so that the first strip you sew is in the correct position. Does that make sense? Hope so!:) And you are most welcome:)

Jean do you really have to have 20 different fabrics? Did you paint the flowers on your machine? I was telling the lady that worked at Joanne fabrics about you and how you made up your own pattern for making a bargello quilt. I told her how much I love your videos. Told her to check you out.

Donna, you can use as many or as few fabrics as you like! As wide strips as you like! Because when you go to cut your strips, the seams, staggered, will match up every time! :) Thank you for being a fan! )
