Thank you for this incredible documentary! I am an Egyptology student in the US and it saddens me that western universities and museums pay little homage to African civilizations other than Egypt and Carthage. It's even hard to find a decent book on Nubia. Nevertheless, I love ancient African history, be it Egyptian, Nubian, Axumite, or from Timbuktu.

Thuh Prince aka Hannable Aksum is of the tigray/tigrinya people. Tigray is located in northern Ethiopia and Tigrinya is located in southern Eritrea. Tigray and Tigrinya were once the same group. Although it does not matter we are all Africans and we are all Cushites so why cant we just be proud of that?

Rome and the Byzantine Empire had close ties with Axum for trade (Gold, Ivory, wood). They even ended the Kush empire and expanded through Yemen. Axum even had its own writing system which is now the oldest form of writing still used in present day. Don't say they didn't have proper architecture because they did. (the stellaes, castles and ancient shrines). Their empire at his peak reached from South Egypt to south Somalia and from West-Ethiopia to Mekkah in the 6th century at the reign of King Kaleb. It ended the Kush period, they (actually the rebels who fought and were against the Axumites) defeated the Persians in a civil war in Yemen after their occupation and had their PROPER ARCHITECTURE as well as other civilizations. Many were burned and ruined after it's fall in 950, but many were spared as wel like the monasteries of the 9 saints from the Byzantine empire or the ancient shrines.

@@solrebls7715 no at the time of axum there were agazi, gojjam, beta amhara and gondar. Tigrayan( agazians) were the ruling class but the others were just colonies. The reason yodit attacked axum was because the axumite emperors killed bete Israel. There was no even amhara 2000 years ago they were just colonies. 1. DNA says that tigrayans are more associated in blood with the hebrews( ancient kings) 2. Amhara is not a race but rather a way of living dna shows that north gojjam and gondar are similar to tigrayans, shewa are similar to oromos it's just the language that makes them the same and wollos( amhara wollo) similar to tigray and harrar and wollos( oromo wollo) similar to harrar and oromo 3. Ethiopian was was a very divided country with most of it's ethnic groups suffering oppression while it's gov't was ruled primarily (since ~1991) by ethnic Tigrayans who make up only 6% of the nation's population. The country began to experience major economic growth and development, but a huge majority of the profits were going to an even smaller inner circle of Tigrayan "elites", and development and modernization were being implemented at a very disproportionate rate in Tigray cities and throughout the region. Apparently, by claiming that anything and everything of cultural and historic value in Ethiopia is located in the Tigray region, they somehow feel justified. At least that is my interpretation of the remarks I see. Ethiopia has a new PM who has been spreading a message of forgiveness, love, unity, equality and peace! He has released thousands of political prisoners, invited all Ethiopians in the diaspora to come home and help build a better Ethiopia for tomorrow (even if they had been considered enemies of the state, including political dissidents and opposition leaders, he made peace with Eritrea, resolved the territory dispute by complying with the arbitrator's ruling, and reopened the land border between the nations. He just appointed women to half of the positions in his cabinet, and the first woman to be Ethiopia's president! Hopefully such comments will be obsolete and lonely!

I have my doubts about the construction. It is clear to see that there are two types of construction. One is made from big stones and is really very well cut. It shows the skill of those who cut the stone. The other one is just stones thrown together without even cutting them.
