Man I'm still so frustrated that the fandom made you feel so unwelcome that you had to drop the music completely for awhile. I thought your reactions were great, easily some of the best I had watched. No way is anyone going to catch all the nuances on a first listen. I do agree that yes they are immature and I completely understand, they'll grow out of it and I'm fine with that. It's more of an issue on the older fans are that are very possessive over tøp and hate criticism, sure you can stick up for them but a lot of people bash out on others who have opinions. But I actually do agree they are still part of the clique and yes the fanbase is HUGE so yes there's always bad parts of huge fanbases and twenty øne piløts is no exceptions, I just felt bad for The Tune Up because he in no way deserves hate for his opinion.

Marco Piscopo, every fan base has their small percentage of fans that are "toxic" [if you have a better word than toxic then please do share] and unfortunately that small percentage is always loud and obnoxious, making the rest of the fans look bad. They're the ones that tend to always make themselves well known compared to the larger/friendlier percentage of fans who are content with minding their own business and staying out of drama. I don't know if you have ever dealt with any negative fans before but I have. I've actually had my fair share of run-ins with both the positive and negative sides of a fan base before so I can confidently say that when the negative side wants to voice their displeasure over anything, they aren't afraid to go full throttle on being disrespectful in the most harsh and obnoxious way[s] possible. Also, age doesn't matter when it comes to the kind of person someone truly is. They're either nice or not nice. Lastly, Gerrad has every right to discuss whatever he wants on his account, especially regarding anything negative.

The important part is to not let them ruin the music for you, which is sometimes easier said than done, so I'm glad you gave this album a chance and enjoyed it. Twenty One Pilots truly outdid themselves. They took their style and improved it into this very mature and tasteful sound. It's undoubtedly their best album so far. There's not a song I don't love, I can't even chose my favourites. In my opinion this is definitely one of the best if not the best album of the year.

I was hoping that even after other people in the clique went after you, you would react to Trench. In my opinion, I think it’s the album of the year. Tyler’s vocals on this were stunning. As well as his bass playing that really stood out on this one. Josh’s drum patterns on this too are so advanced on this. His drumming on the other albums are great as well, but this one I think that he decided to go all out. I also like they added the horns on songs like “Legend”. It really added to it. I just love the album. There’s not a single song that I don’t like.

I watched a reaction the other day and more than half the comments were complaining about the reactor "not getting the meaning of the song" People should let people enjoy and listen to music how they want. YESSSS. I loved your guys' reaction to Trench and honestly SAME. Lol. I know the clique can get really irritating but I'm with you HAVE FUN WHILE LISTENING TO NEW MUSIC FOR THE FIRST TIME, UGHHHH. Dude I really feel you on the clique situation I have been a fan of twenty one pilots since 2013 and for a while they were the most important thing to me and then I started encountering these fans that just sucked the enjoyment of this band right out of me I’ve recently realized you just gotta enjoy the music for you and not for anyone else don’t pay attention to these “fans” that really take obsessive to a whole new level *also I realize that this video is old but I’m just watching it now and I wanted to say something about it great reaction really keep doing you my guy !

The absolute best album they’ve ever made. None of the other albums even hold a candle to the amount of musical intricacies and nuances this album provides. Also, I gotta mention that Paul Meany of MuteMath co-wrote and co-produced a lot of the tracks on the album. (In fact Levitate was made completely by Paul and Tyler just rapped over it). Incredible album.

I agree and I think those in the clique with logic will agree that 'Trench' blows 'Vessel' out the water in terms of stylistic choices, sound, production and creativity. Additionally, I think Tyler's new take on writing lyrics was better than that of his previous; hate me if you want. Overall, most of us are nice people, who are passionate and want to inform people and TØP, but unfortunately some are over the top and some of us come across as insane. However, I personally agree with you that this is there best and I have friends who hated them yet have listened to 'Trench,' and also friends who followed them but didn't necessarily love their older stuff, but subverted their opinions of them after hearing 'Trench.'

Hey! I know this and oldish video but I was watching though all you TOP videos and your energy for the music was so cool and for me to come on here and hear your experience with the clique sucks but i'm not surprised which is even more disappointing. I am a massive TOP fan but i've been though fire from others for not know the DEMA/Nico story line. I like to listen to the music with my interpretation of it and so I know how you feel when everyone said "you have to know the storyline" or attacked you for your first listen thoughts because it does get tiring. I am just a fan as someone who knows the DEMA story line and i hope you know that you can be a fan too no matter how you interpret the music. Keep doing what you love to do/make here on youtube, your amazing.

Just so you don’t get chewed up later on by the stupid side of the Clique, Dema is not a character. It’s a place. The deep vocals are from Nico. Which is the equivalent of Blurryface in this album. Btw hope you’re still around doing videos in 2 or 3 years for when they release the next album. Tyler has already said that he has some good ideas in mind for the next album cycle.

Lol, I LOST it at "drink your boba" X'D X'D X'D For real though, it's a shame that some of the Clique were annoying and soured your enjoyment of TOP and their older stuff. It's awesome that you decided to give them another chance though when the 1st Trench MV's came out, and it's great that you guys loved the album. I did too. I think it was a truly excellent piece of work. If you ever (in the future, when the taint of those annoying fans is lessened) did want to go back and listen to their older stuff and try to really understand the lyrics and the meaning of all their stuff (their one of the few bands I've ever experienced that Has so much meaning and personal emotion and experience and stuff in their work), if you didn't want to deal with the fandom again and wanted to stay away from that side of things, I would recommend watching the Pop Song Professor's videos. I believe someone else suggested that also. He's great. Not only does he seem like just a really nice guy (def NOT one of the Clique jerk type fans), but he's legit an English professor so he does really good analysis and has a really good way of explaining his interpretation of the lyrics. And the fact that he's also a huge TOP means that he's following them for a while, and that combined with his English lit analysis ect background, he knows they types of symbols and metaphors that Tyler uses, knows, is familiar with How Tyler creates, and just a whole bunch of other things, and he's just really good at explaining all of it. Even if some of the interpretations of some of the songs aren't right (because for some of them we probably won't ever know due to them being really personal for Tyler and him being uncomfortable going into too much detail with his struggles with mental illness), it gives you a good foundation for knowing how Tyler thinks and makes you think of a lot of their songs in a different way. Anyways, just wanted to throw that suggestion out there in case you wanted a different way to explore the songs. But anyways, great reaction you guys :)

Rewatching this bc they have a new album coming out, and damn I totally forgot the fandom came at you like this although I understand their frustration to a point. I think everyone would love to hear your thoughts and interpretations of lyrics so not getting those can be frustrating to watch, but they should understand that a first listen might not always have that included.
