This is one of the first things I figured out early on. Keeping the bar in contact with your thighs before completely extended will help you generate much more force at the to.

I understand how the bar is to slide over the thighs to prevent bouncing off hips. But, how do you avoid "catching your manhood" on the bar? I have to add a slight bend to my elbows so that the bar goes over my boys, but I tend to lose power. Very conflicting, and difficult to find a good balance.

I recommend you to get proper training from expert. I'm currently on my 6th week of 10 weeks program from shenzheng weightlifting online coaching. Check them out.

Compression shorts. If that doesn’t solve the problem then you’re doing something wrong

@@wilmerstall3933 your comment above clearly states “tuck your jewels”.... guess what?.... if you wear compression shorts you don’t have to worry about that. Like I said, if compression shorts don’t solve the problem then that means something else is the issue. I never said compression shorts are the only answer

two things: 1) the bar should have contact above your "boys", you've possibly got contact too low which is a common mistake, and 2) possibly your thighs are too small, if you've seen any Olympic level international lifter they have huge thighs !
