I understand how the bar is to slide over the thighs to prevent bouncing off hips. But, how do you avoid "catching your manhood" on the bar? I have to add a slight bend to my elbows so that the bar goes over my boys, but I tend to lose power. Very conflicting, and difficult to find a good balance.

Like I said, if compression shorts don’t solve the problem then that means something else is the issue. I never said compression shorts are the only answer

two things: 1) the bar should have contact above your "boys", you've possibly got contact too low which is a common mistake, and 2) possibly your thighs are too small, if you've seen any Olympic level international lifter they have huge thighs !
