On this episode of Gritty Bowmen we meet with Ryan and Hillary Lampers of Hunt, Harvest, Health.
So… about a month back--Aron Snyder hit the big 4-0. And I’m well on my way to 43. We’re not exactly old, but we’re not spring chickens either. We’re fit for two older guys--in fact, we’re in better shape now than we were in our early 30s--and we’re pretty happy about that. But father-time isn’t backing down and it’s more important than ever to live well--both physically and emotionally. And that’s why I’m pleased to have Doctor Hillary Lampers and my good buddy Ryan Lampers, aka Donnie Vincent Lampers, on today’s episode of Gritty Bowmen. Ryan is an absolute stud when it comes to bowhunting public lands. And his wife Hillary is a doctor--but not your regular, everyday, run of the mill doctor that I generally mistrust except in the case of dire emergencies; Hillary is the kind of doctor that actually treats root causes of physical distress instead of simply prescribing drugs to treat symptoms.
Hillary and Ryan started a podcast this past December called Hunt Harvest Health--and I’m so glad they did! I’ve been listening to their podcasts on backcountry meal prep, gardening, testosterone, cortisol and other hormones, gut health and the second brain, hunting and more. This past year has been a whirlwind of life-changing events for me. Admittedly, I’m not as fit or feeling quite as froggy as I did a year ago.
If you’ve got little kids around while you’re listening to this podcast, you may want to revisit this episode when they’re not around. This is a talk about health--it’s not time to be squeamish. We talk about things like poop, S.E.X., how to increase testosterone, love languages, etc. You’ve been warned.
Some of you may be thinking that this “health stuff” is boring or that this medical talk is way too complex--but it’s really not--and I truly believe it is life-changing information. So I encourage you to buck-up and take notes. And when you’re done with this podcast, go subscribe to the HUNT HARVEST HEALTH PODCAST and continue learning how to feed your Temple of Power.

Thank you thank you thank you I am a 63 year old lady who used to be so fit moved to England got a back injury put on opiates now for 18 years well Dr Hillary thank you I took my health in my own hands and you just did more for more for me in about 15 minutes then I have been able to find in 3 years. I wish you could reach more people that are unable to get to you. It’s been three weeks since I watched this and I put you advice into action and can now walk miles and I go to the toilet about every other day I stead of every two weeks. Thanks again. Brian and Ryan thank you guys too without your videos I wouldn’t be on my way to teaching my grandson how to fish and hopefully hunt one day. Keep the videos coming.

Hillary has so much wisdom to impart. Brian was constantly interrupting her. I felt really uncomfortable with it - especially because I'm a psychologist, trained to listen first, and time good questions well. Still watched the whole thing. great content. and still love to watch the gritty crew hunt! Incidentally, I was dx with UC in my 30's. It was rampant long enough for me to develop cancer and have the whole works removed. Now I have rare liver disease. I'm on a host of meds. Probably always will be. And so hard for me to absorb and stay in that 'sweet spot" she spoke of. I want to keep after this and keep learning, eat more healthy, absorb well. My staying alive, and hunting hard into my twilight of life depends on it.

Love the gut health talk! It is so applicable to so many health related problems that so many people have. My mother has been helping me solve my horrible allergies here in the Willamette Valley through improving/regulating my gut health, that and a combination of exercising (that has been heavily inspired from channels like this) has been having me feel amazing the past year or two!!

GREAT job Brian. I stumbled into your channel via Anthony, and have been hooked for the last 50+ videos since then. The content provided by Hillary and Ryan is over the top useful. I'm 48 next month and can tell that I'm NOT the guy I was 25yrs ago. I finally signed up for YT so I could subscribe to this channel. The knowledge I'm gaining from both Hillary/Ryan and Aaron is invaluable............and Aaron is hilarious. Wishing you the best on this big jump to the full-time Gritty gig, and I'll continue to spend my free hours watching your content.

Great Podcast! We live in a strange/exciting time... When a person like me can watch some people on a computer and feel connected to them through the message they share. What a weird phenomenon. A tad bit scary to me. But when you do not actually know anyone personally that holds the same ideas as good (hunting, health, food, fitness) I guess it makes sense. Thanks Gritty guy for working so hard at this.

great work brian...i have listened to 90% of your podcasts. i gotta ask tho, why so much hate towards the dairy and farming industry in general? maybe I'm just being over sensitive because i am in the ag business, but there's tons of regulations, tests, withhold periods done on dairy products to insure there is no antibiotics in milk. tested to parts per million and some cases parts per billion. using antibiotics in our beef cattle is not very common, but we are a small farm also. i know the bigger the operation the wose it is but i feel we do a great job with animal care and comfort, but again we have 190 milk and 200 beef cows compared to 3,000+ on some where the cows are way over crowded

Ken, thank you for feeding us and making an effort to become well informed. But consider the FDA's sorry track record. A lot of folks are revisiting the post-War assumption that artificial stuff with very short term testing required by the FDA is safe; and the FDA has a long history of outright corruption that hasn't been adequately addressed. Want to get involved to change things? Probably the best way to start is to become familiar with permaculture.

She's not completely right on dairy. Dairy cows that go on antibiotics move go through a withdrawal program before the milk can be ship. Many times we test animals individually to make sure their clean. Cows are only given antibiotics when sick. We see only about 1 percent that are treated at a given time. They milk is pasteurized and given to the calves. I will say this i grew up drinking raw milk. Nothing made my tummy feel good like a big glass of cold fresh milk.
